Okay; I have been doing pretty well with my wt loss so far; but for the past weeks my wt is stuck around the 140 - 141 mark...i am afraid i have hit a plateau. I don't know what to do. I was reading somewhere that having a off the plan meal may help kickstart your body and it will begin losing wt; but I am scared to do that as I dont want to go back up to 145 or so. Also I did eat a slice of pizza and had one glass of wine during our office christmas party but nothing changed. So I am thinking of doing the hollywood celibrity diet where you drink liquid for 2 days; if nothing else it will atleast help me cleanse. any advice for me; i so badly, desperately, really really really want to see 139 or even 139.5 on my weighing scale

HELP !!!!!

Ugh, I'd advise you not to do any celebrity diet thing, it sounds very unhealthy. And I agree that you should go off your diet for a day or so and trick your body to thinking its not dieting. Otherwise, I know its hard, but just wait... our bodies are strange and you're probably at the point where the weight loss is just slowing down a lot, but it doesn't mean that it has stopped.

Maybe someone else will be able to give you better advice.

Are you excersizing much?? that would help.

Yes I am I do an hour of Firm videos (Weight training and cardio) at home in the morning and then I do an hour of excercise intense cardio at the gym. I take classes so there is a lof of variety Monday I do Step aerobics, Tuesday it is Salsa aerobics, Wednesday it is Spinning, Thursday it is Kickboxing and Body works; Friday and Saturday it is Spinning and Sunday it is Body works + Abs.

And when ever i can i take the stairs, walk; I really don't know whats going on. I so bad want to see the number 139 on my scale.

900 - 1200 cals. I have small meals every 3 hours. Most of my meals include Lean protein with steamed veggies and greens (fish, chicken, turkey).

You're supposed to have nothing below 1200 really. 900 will just make you're plateau last a lot longer. Whilst losing weight you should have been doing a lot of exercise so that in the end you will have the right metabolism for your weight. If you were losing weight without doing much exercise at the time then your metabolism will drop below what it should be for your weight. Unless you were doing a lot of exercise since the start of your diet, thats probably why you hit a plateau.

Hey! Don't do anything at all! Sometimes that helps! I suggest that or hit the gym a little more! Don't worry though the weight will come off!

I'm not sure how many times it needs to be proven before people start listening, but here it is again - if you eat too little, your metabolism will slow down resulting in plateaus. 1200 is too little for most people, 900 is way too little.

1200 is the number that millions of people who go on temporary diets and lose temporary weight use. 1200 is the number most associated with the yo-yo syndrome. 1200 is the amount coma patients are fed, and I'm pretty sure you need more calories than they do, assuming of course, you move around more than a coma patient does.;)

I absolutely agree with the guy above. Of the 900-1200 calories you eat, I imagine 25-50% is burned through physical activity if you really do that much, so that leaves your body with about 600-900 calories to sustain itself. I had the same problem you do now, and I changed up my diet and exercise and I'm starting to come around again. Good luck.

Thanks all for your helpful responses. I did do the 2 day hollywood diet; and my did the scale move I am down to 138.5 :D i am going on my usual diet again and hope the scale will continue its journey downwards; I am going to take all your advise and make sure my calorie intake is not lower than 1200-1500. Will keep you updated on my progress.

My goal for now is to be 128 by January 15th.

I am at my lowest wt since my high school even in my high school i weighed 145 pounds...I can't even begin to tell you how exciting this is...I am loving every minute of it. And I am gonna be at my goal wt before I turn 31 in Feb 1st :D

Great! Keep in mind that as soon as you reach your goal weight, continue with the exercise. I believe that once most people reach where they what to be, their dieting and physical activity slowly diminish. At least that happened to be, it took 5 months to lose 44 pounds, then 2 years to gain all of it back. Good luck.
