Stubborn belly fat not disappearing!

Recently I've undergone some pretty significant weight loss. Back in May, I was at 245, after about 4 or 5 months, I was down to around 200. I've been very physically active and changed my eating habits, and I'm very happy with how I look now. Except...

I can't seem to get a flat stomach. I mean, before, I had a pretty big gut... and now it's much smaller, but it's still there, just much less noticable. I haven't been able to lose any more weight (i've been fluctuating between 197-202 since late september), despite eating healthy and still being physically active more days than not for 30 mins or more.

My stomach currently exceeds my waistline by about 2 inches. I don't understand because I don't have excessive fat anywhere else- I did lose all over though, my face, arms, legs, and yes, my belly, but my belly is the only part of me that looks somewhat "out of shape" Anyone have any suggestions for attacking the belly fat?

Well I am nooo professional but have you tried belly dancing? If you don't want to go to a class you can actually buy tapes or even watch podcasts on the web, I heard it is REALLY good for getting a flat stomach :p

I really have no suggestions. But I did read that the belly is usually the last to go. When we lose fat we lose it all over the body at the same time and if you have a larger than normal middle, that is going to be the last to go. I'd just keep up your regime. Maybe just do a little more fat burning cardio. It will eventually go away.

I agree too that the belly is the last thing to go. I noticed that just recently mine has been dramatically reducing. I do 100 crunches a day and when I walk I hold my stomach in tight. I would concentrate of core exercises and things like kick boxing and other exercises that make you use your stomach. Have you had kids? I've had three and even at my skinyist there was still some lose skin there but it's not too bad.

were in the same hole my friend, though I think Im a victim to loose skin rather than fat..>.< but who knows, I'm just gonna keep at what Im doing and hope for the best, good luck in your process! (im stuck between 197-200 btw)

Break out a hula hoop! It's fun and it directly targets your belly. Plus, did I mention it's fun :)

Any chance you're on birth control pills or have the Mirena IUD? I've read many stories about women on Mirena having a particularly and unusually huge gut that looks pregnant and another side effect being weight gain or being unable to lose weight. Its probably not this but just checking.

Well if that's the case then my response is REALLY SILLY he he.

Basically your stomach has gone down but its still got excess weight on it that you can't get off because you're currently on a PLATEAU. Very often after a person has lost a significant amount of weight, they will get to a place where the weight will just stick for a few weeks or several months.

How many calories are you getting a day and how often do you work out?
