Im 20 years old and I started working 12 hour shifts in a 911 center when I was 19. I gained a lot of weight when I started working here...about 20-30 pounds...for 12 hours all i do is sit. Our schedule goes like this...

Week One
Monday...Off
Tuesday...Off
Wednesday...Work
Thursday...Work
Friday...Off
Sat...Off
Sun...Off

Week Two
Monday...Work
Tuesday...Work
Wednesday...Off
Thursday...Off
Friday...Work
Sat...Work
Sun...Work

We also swing shifts...one month of third and on month of first...I just find it really hard to work out cause on my days off im running errands...we dont get a break at work...and i work either 7am-7pm or 7pm to 7am...Ive tried counting calories but I get too frustrated cuz i dont know how many calories is in some stuff...all i drink is water and i take adderall XR 20 mg in the morning and Prozac at night...

I find it hard to work out because of my schedule....and then I have been working a lot of overtime because we just lost 3 people so thats 3 shifts that have to be covered...ive always been active and just feel disgusted with myself...

Ive researched and researched and cant find anything that works for me

Any advice?

Little things make a difference

Getting started is the hardest. Start with little things, instead of grabbing the bag of chips pour a bowl, even if you end up having a 2nd you won't zoom the whole bag. Skip the mayo and the cheese on your burger. Make sure you have healthy snacks, baby carrots are no work, are good for you and will fill you up. I stink at counting calories but I do look at the labels to see how much fat is in it and to guestimate so I know approximately how many calories a certain snack has.

You do need to treat yourself but choose them wisely, trade the ice cream for frozen yogurt (fat free if possible). I love tortilla chips, first I cut back and then I traded fried for baked (can be hard to find). Lots of little changes do make a difference

Find a way to work exercise into your routine, walk during your lunch hour and eat at your desk if possible. Get a folding shopping cart and walk to the grocery store or when running other errands. Find exercise you enjoy so ot doesn't seem like work. For me it's bicycling. Weight training helps in 2 ways, the more muscle mass the more calories you burn even when not exercising and when you hit a plateau if you're lifting more you are turning fat to muscle even if you're flat on weight.

The younger you start the easier it will be. I was 40 when I got serious so you already Have a jump on me :)

I was always heavy and then when I first got married I gained 100#. In the last 10 years I went from over 310 (stopped looking at the scale) to 185. I am in the best shape of my life. My knees, back and ankles don't hurt any more. The rewards are so worth it. Save a set of "fat clothes" to put on for encouragement but donate the rest so you have a financial encouragement to keep the weight off.

You CAN do it!!!

Good luck

Hi, I just wanted to comment above. Seeing as people will think its spam (which it kinda is) i do not distubute or endorse this product and have nothing to do with it, nor do i know the above person. BUT it works wraps really DO WORK! they literally take off inches...how? i have no idea. does it make you lose weight? no, but you will lose inches and its great for people who have allready lost weight and want to tighten lose skin. just thought id add my 2 sence seeing as people might report it as span and what not.
Anyways! I agree with making small changes, even standing burns more calories then sitting, pack a bag lunch and snacks and eat every couple of hours, veggies fruit, chicken breast. mustard has no calories so choose mustard over ketchup ,or mayo. park farther from the stores you are going into. eat breakfast is a GREAT thing, and if your not a breakfast eater, start with a smoothie with fruit and yogurt, dont eat at night....eat pop corn over chips...and as for the tortilla chips you can buy whole wheat tortilla wraps, cut them into triangles and pop em in the oven at 350 untill crispy. and enjoy with salsa no sour cream or cheese...baby steps it takes hard work and it also takes time, 1 change at a time.
