Stretch Marks

I know it's kind of bad for you, but tanning works GREAT to fade them.

When I hit puberty I got tons on my upper thighs and butt. It wasn't until I had gone tanning for a few months, they faded pretty much completly, even after the tan wore off.

I've got a couple on my hips now from weight gain. Ughh. sucks.

Being extremely pale like me also makes them invisible. :)

Stretch marks are for good. Most people have them, i would imagine. Lotsa people I know at least. I have to agree that some tanning works to fad them. I have a few on my sides that are barely noticeable now, thanks to losing weight and tanning, they are still there though...

I'm stuck with tons over my hips. I'll try that cocoa butter.

Melissa Rae---I guess Jergen's tanning moisturizing lotion does the same but in a less destructive manner?

I've been told vitamin d capsules are good for it. Break them open and rub it into the skin. I can't say whether it actually works but it seemed to work on my belly. I've been lucky and avoided bad stretch marks and for that i'm thankful.

I'm probably one of the few people left who believe that you can permanently get rid of them...to a high degree at least.

Chemical peels, laser treatment, I think those two are your best options.

If you're okay with just fading them, then Maderma [sp?] works great.

I'm getting some work done at a local dermatologists office next week to try to 'get rid' of mine. I'm going to do intense treatment for six months.

Alright, well...I know I wasn't much help. Just please don't get ripped off by creams that advertise stating they will erase all of your stretchmarks.

Happy turkey day!

I am so skeptical of those creams, but if anyone has used them and they actually worked, I'm all ears! I'm pregnant right now and trying to avoid getting (more of) them, so I'm using Palmer's cocoa butter and Mama Bee's (Burt's Bees) butter. I think this goes along with the cocoa butter train of thought. But in all of the pregnancy magazines I've read, they say there isn't much you can do to prevent or get rid of them. I am definitely taking that tanning lotion advice--but the smell is always so gross!

I have already lost a little bit of weight although it is still a long way to go until I will have reached my perfect weight. But at least I have already dropped a size which is great! But last night before going to bed I realized that I have strech marks. But why? Because I am losing weight? That's quite strange, isn't it?

Stretch marks occur when your layers change. Either dropping weight or building muscle at a semi fast pace. Stretch marks are common with fat loss and you should be proud to have them. Some take time to go away and it really depends on your body to see how long that takes. Overall stretch marks will be a common scene for your weight loss adventure.

I was doing some research on the same topic the other day and here is what I came across; there is this product from Avon and based on the customer reviews it seems to be good; I ordered two tubes and just got my shipment yesterday will begin using this today; hopefully these will do the trick. Here is the link:

I noticed some stretch marks just recently in the mid groin area (between legs). I guess I am lucky they wont be that visible. Even if I had some on my arms I wouldn't care much, just treat them as scars I already have on my body. To me having scars is natural.
