Stomach tightening but not flat

I am new to this forum and looking for some advice and help. I started exercise and a balanced diet in Feb 2010, I started off at 260 lbs, I am now at 219.5 lbs. My workout includes resistance training on a gym, and kickboxing for half an hour on a punching bag.

I can tell I have lost weight and people I work with and family have noticed and are very happy for me, I figure my target is somewhere between 190 to 200 lbs and then the muscle weight will start to move forward. I have even dropped 2 inches on my waist and one dress size.

One of my goals is to have a great looking physique and a six pack of abs. My stomach is tightening up and the amount of fat on the stomach is not a whole lot mostly in the love handle area, I figure that is where the last 20 to 25 lbs exists. But my stomach when flexed and when I feel it, it still seems that I look like I have a bulge even when felling the area where the muscle is.:banghead:

Some areas on the internet recommend doing a colon cleanse, I am concerned by how evasive some of them can get, the natural ones don't seem to near as evasive as the "big brand" ones are. Some say just to take Physillium fibre supplements and it will shed up to 20 lbs. My eating habits are much better, but these sites say it could be what is causing the bulge to still show there and I am wondering if I should try it out and see what happens or just wait until I hit my target of 190 to 200 lbs. At times I do feel bloated if that helps at all.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Stay away from those sites telling you to buy pills and stuff to purify or any other stuff like that. A healthy lifestyle and healthy food do clean your organism of all the crap. Also, if you really feel you have to "clean it up", drink a hole bunch of water for a few days and it'll do the job.

BTW haven't you heard of that big scam a few months ago about sites trying to sell colon cleanser and acai berries supplements on the net? Be careful about what you read over there, you must be critic about everything you find on the internet since there's often no scientific proofs of it (especially about weight loss!)

Good luck on your journey

The previous advice is good. All that kind of stuff is usually a scam and a waste of your time, efforts and money!

Additionally, your colon etc are behind your abdominal muscles - so logically I don't see how a colon cleanse could shift any bulk infront of the muscles except by way of starvation to cut down fat or reducing water retention. And a 'cleanse' isn't the best way of doing either of those!

Keep up healthy eating/calorie counting to shift the fat, strength training to build the muscle and if you feel you might be holding onto some water it's easiest to drink more water and try to reduce your intake of high sodium/salt food stuffs.

I hope you find more luck in getting your desired look!

Thanks for the advice! I looked at the reviews and your right they seem to be junk and there are too many rules to the systems. I think I will just add a fiber supplement to my diet, I need that anyway.

I just found out about a muscle I didn't even know existed, called the TVA muscle. So I have started to work on the muscle at work because you just have to suck in your belly button to help the muscle work out. As well as a few at home exercises as well I have added to my routine.

Perhaps that will help in flattening my abdominal area.

Thanks!

Do not(!) take any pills or do any so called "cleanses". They are all worthless and many are very dangerous. Those cleanses are usually just a starvation diet, which will only make you gain everything (and more, often) back as soon as you start eating again.

The way to lose the last 25 pounds is the same as the way you lost the first; diet and exercise. Just keep up with it. Weight loss slows down the closer you get to your goal, that's perfectly normal. It has to do with your body weighing less (so it burns fewer calories) and your body adjusting to a new lifestyle. Everyone experiences this, it's normal, and you don't need to do anything special about it.

Thanks again for the advice, I have been on this workout and diet since Feb. I know I have at least another 4 months to the end. 30 more lbs I think to reach my target.

Wish me luck!
