stomach fat

Hi,

Can someone tell me the right thing to do in order to lose fat from the stomach and thighs? Does walking/running for 30 mins a day help?
Sit ups don't work right, since they appear to give u abs but the fat stays there. What else are u meant to do? What are u meant to eat/not eat?

Sorry, I'm abit clueless on exercising coz i've always been skinny but my stomach has been packing on the weight for the past 2 years and it looks horrible at the moment.

I've done abit of research and I know u need to lose overall weight to lose fat... and the stomach is usually the last place that u lose weight.

PLEASE HELP.

to lose fat you have to burn more calories than you consume so your nutrition has to be in order. base your meals off this list

have small meals about 3 hours apart from each other. the act of eating and digesting increases your metabolism and burns calories. what you dont want to do is not eat, then you'll lose lean muscle and keep the fat and throw your metabolism out of whack.

walking/running for 30 minutes a day can help so does high intensity training for 10 minutes a day. weight training can help too. the key is to keep active. if you dont care for situps, look up planks and side planks. good exercises with less movements involved. :)

if you got a "jelly belly" like me run run run and jog it will help you get ride of that fat once thats gone you can do sit ups to tone it up.

Hard abs are made in the kitchen!!

If you don't have a clean diet, all the exercise in the world isn't going to help your stomach look good.

lots and lots of cardio like running, biking, skipping rope, swimming etc... that will make you loose the fat then you can do tons of ab work outs like sit ups and planks to get firm abs

planks do pretty much the same thing as a sit-up/crunches right? just build up the muscle under the fat?
they're good for a change of pace and for ppl with lower back problems. :)

That's not really the best advice you give. A combination of lifting moderate weights, along with the above mentioned cario is the fastest way to lose weight. As others have pointed out, the the calorie deficit is what makes your body 'burn fat' stores. Why a combination of weight training and cardio? Simple. Muscles burn more fat over an extended period of time. The more muscles you have, the more calories burned (even when sleeping). Cardio does a great job of burning calories while you're performing the excerise itself. To ensure that you're tapping into your fat reserves, make sure you don't eat anything approximately 3 hours prior to working out. So work out first thing in the morning (if possible)...after a nights rest or 3 hours after a meal.

Also, drink plenty of water. 8, 8 oz. glasses is sufficient for most, but the more you drink the better it will make you feel 'full' longer. Many times, when people are hungry, they really thirsty (google it). Drink a cup of water when you're hungry...you'd be suprised how many times it works...

Good luck on your weight loss journey. Just remember...Rome wasn't built in a day and your weight loss will be a long process, not a quick fix. Unless you go with surgery or something. Just take it slow and you'll get the results you're looking for...

I have lost 7 kg in 2 months and most of it around the stomach, what i do is weight training for 30-40 min one day and then jog for 30 min the next day, i also play soccer. I have limited junk food to once a fortnight (one meal) and stopped drinking soft drink. I have 3 beers in a week so my my alcahol consumption is quiet low. I eat three meals a day with morning tea, all fresh food. I have one rest day. By doing this I lose consistantly .5 kg a week.

I walk for 1 hour in the morning daily (except Sunday). I also take 3 meals a day, breakfast at 9 AM, lunch at 1:30 Pm and dinner at 10:30 PM.
Water intake is around 2 ltr a day.

With this, how long will it take me to lose around 10 KG. (``22 lbs)

There's really no way to say... It depends on so many factors like how much you weight right now, your age, the intensity of your walks, and what your daily caloric intake is...

You are right. To lose belly fat, you have to decrease the amount of fat he has throughout his body. Spot reduction cannot be accomplished.

To reduce overall belly fat, you need to expend more calories than you consumes. Combining aerobic exercise, strength training exercise, and proper diet will provide the best results.

Just read out couple of my advice and follow those with cautious:

• Exercise 10 minutes three or more times a day. Exercise helps increase your metabolism and fat-burning rate. Finding time to exercise might be difficult in your busy life, but you only need to exercise 10 minutes at a time to get health benefits and increase your fat burn.

• Pick an exercise you enjoy and do at least three 10-minute sessions each day --- in the morning, during lunch break and before dinner, for example. Walk, bicycle, do yoga, calisthenics, climb stairs or do a combination of each.

• Cut excess sugar from your diet. Many foods you might think are healthy actually contain hundreds of calories and dozens of grams of sugar. Cut juices, sugary yogurts, cereals and snack bars from your diet. For example, 1 cup of orange juice contains over 100 calories and 20 g of sugars. When you cut 500 calories from your diet every day, you will lose 1 lb. of fat every week. Drink mint-flavored water and eat plain yogurt or oatmeal with fresh berries and fresh fruits rather than sugary varieties.

• Boost your metabolism by drinking oolong tea and eating spicy foods. 1 cup of oolong tea increases your metabolism for 2 hours. When your metabolism is increased, your body will burn more calories. Eating black pepper and other spicy foods can also have this metabolism-revving effect.

• Drink ice-cold water to make your body burn more calories. Drinking ice water forces your body to work to bring your body temperature back to normal, which burns calories. Drink eight glasses of ice water to burn an extra 70 calories per day.

• Add high-fiber foods to your meals. Foods that contain fiber can make you feel full, which can help reduce the portion sizes and calorie content of your meals. Eat fiber-rich foods such as vegetables, whole grains and fruits as snacks or with meals.

• Do abdominal exercises every day. Although you cannot spot-reduce fat around your tummy, you can tone your muscles and help shape your belly. Increased muscle mass anywhere in your body will increase your metabolism and help burn more calories even at rest.

• Replace high-carbohydrate foods such as pasta and rice from your diet by substituting them with shirataki noodles and vegetables. Serve steamed cauliflower instead of rice or spaghetti squash or shirataki noodles instead of wheat pasta, for example. This will help cut hundreds of calories from your meals.

See, running only 10 minute would not help you a great extend but if you just follow all of the above advice and change your overall life style accordingly then you would see the real change soon.

And don’t forget to consult with your doc regarding changing any diet workout regimen. Hopefully it would help.
