i am also thinking about joining a gym by my house my neighbor works at. hes a PT there & i know some others that work there as well. my neighbor tony has been giving me advise on what i should be doing currently with my weight loss plan. his idea is to start lifting so i can build muscle that will help depleate the body fat better & less chance for plateau to come. i agree & want to take on this challenge. im very excited. i used to powerlift back in highschool as a freshman. that was 8 yrs ago! lol im not nearly as strong as i used to be. heres what my 3 rep max were: bench=90 lbs, squat=135 lbs, & deadlift=205 lbs. i had hit a plateau & stopped at these weights. i also wasnt putting on the muscle like i was supposed to probally because my diet was poor & i lacked what lifters need to be strong & add muscle. the next year after this i injured myself really badly trying out for soccer & had an acute muscle spasm for over a week in practically my whole body. my muscle enzymes were thru the roof & ever since that injury i havent gained my strength back. a few yrs after high school when i was the ripe age of 20, i develpoed fibromyalgia. i am here today trying to get back in shape kick this weight off & get strong & buff. i dont want my illness to keep my down. i want to succeed & not think about illness unless it taps me on the shoulder. i am determined! :patriot:

ok so here goes....
yesterday i took pics of myself. they were the 10 lb weight loss pics from my previous ones the first week i started. i also did some measurements. seems i have lost another inch in my bust!! =( but have gained an inch in my waist!! ugh!! im tryin not to get discouraged here. why another inch in my waist??!! thats where im trying my best to lose it! is it possible because of abdominal muscles getting bigger???? sounds silly to me but who knows. if anyone has any answers please feel free to share. i also did jillian michaels' 30 day shread dvd. it was a 20 min workout & i was sssooooo weak afterward. it was hard to walk down the stairs. i had to hold onto the failing cause it felt as f my legs were going to give out! man i am so sore! i also enrolled at xsport fitness...without the help of my neighbor tony. im getting a discount thru where i work so it knocks off like $7 each month. another good thing is i get a free personal training session that lasts an hour & a free 15 min massage. its open 24/7-365 days a year. it never closes. they have a pool & like 300 cardio machines with built in tv's on each one, a sauna, & many classes to choose from that are part of the membership. i love it! im going tonight to do some "light" workouts. im so sore i should rest, but i must not stop because i will get too comfprtable & fall back in my lazy old ways of staying home & being unhealthy =(...my free personal training session is july 9th...next week. i know a few personal trainers there so he stuck me with the one guy i know. ill feel more comfortable that i know him. i cant wait to see what he has to say advise wise & such....wish me luck, im in this for the long haul :patriot:

Is it possible that you were a little bloated when you took your measurements ?

Nice effort with your DVD :)

thanks! im going to try it again ...possibly....when im not sore lol
i might have been bloated. im not really sure. i made sure i hadnt ate a meal before i measured. the wierd thig is i had my "monthly friend" last week & that week i lost 2 lbs & didnt feel at all bloated. now that im over it & did my measurements i just cant believe it! so odd. i dont think i gained really. well i gained like 6oz. i was 136.0 then went to 136.6. i checked right before i measured. have you seen my 10 lb weight loss pics yet?? i just posted them yesterday. i hope the difference is noticeable

I have seen them, I think there is a noticible difference in your back and I think your sides are a little more trim :)

yea i notice it better with clothes on definately. its harder to tell without. but people say it noticeable in my face & stomach. i can notice it in my shoulders & upper chest.. i dont have the fat pads on my shoulders or collar bones anymore lol....hate the fact im losing my bewbies tho!! lol...so would you say it looks like a for sure lost 10 lbs?? or less than 10 or more than 10?? just kinda gettin opinions from people cause ya kno...im my own worst critic lol :troll:

Hmmm, a bit of mental conversion from pounds to kg

yep It does look like 10 lb but it would be easier to compare if the pictures could be placed side by side :)

so today was my very first day @ xsport. i took it easy cause im still very very sore. i could've stayed home, but like i said before, i gotta do this or ill get lazy & unmotivated. i have to make it a habit unless its seriously going to hinder me. i walked about 33 mins(doing the fat burn setting) on the treadmill which equaled 2 miles. then i went on to do some ab work on the ab rocker.i weighed myself on the scale & it said 139! eekk! so i went back to the origional scale to see how much i was since thats the one ive been using all along. that one said 137.5.....sooo... it means i have gained a pound & a half within 2 days. i dont know exactly if im retaining water or not. i never get swollen ankles so i dont know how else to tell. my stomach like i mentioned before gained an inch. its been a week since my period & i dont kno what the extra weight can be from....especially gaining it within 2 days. i heard my friend questioning if muscles can retain water. i wonder if this is true or not. ive heard yes & no, so i dont know what to think. im preying that if i slam waters this weekend ill flush my system out & be back to where i left off. i hate this rollercoaster part lol i know its part of it all tho, but who really enjoys gaining when theyre trying to lose? anyoe have anny answers or suggestions???:ack2:

So i determined that my weight gain was from water weight most likely in my muscles. They retained water after doing that jillian michaels dvd i did lol i am currently 136.5. After that last post i weighted myself the next day july 4th & i was 135.0. That means i lost that 2.5 lbs over night. I did however drink a lot of water too. My weight might have increased currently with working out last night & being sore today. This is what i posted in my stregnthing & conditioning diary...

Hello to all once again...

A little update on myself...
Been goin to the gym ever since last thursday when i signed up. Im really diggin the jacuzzi after my workouts =). Yesterday was my first day of weight trainning. I went with my neighbor who i a pt like i said before. So he had me do a total body workout. I benched a lot more than i thought i could lol yay!! Thats suprising lol thought i wouldnt be able to even bench the bar 45 lbs standard olympic size). I ended up doin like 10-12 reps of just the bar. Then tony threw 2 10's on & i was doing 10 reps of 65...then he threw another 2 10's on & i did like 4 reps of 85. Lol i remembered when i stopped powerlifting my 3 rep max was 90. He was suprised i was still in shape since 8 yrs ago lol. I did a lot of planks for my abs, dumbell work with my arms,& moderate leg work. I ended up pulling a muscle doing walking lunges with the dumbells so i stopped doing them & focused on other parts of my body. Today i went to the gym to do cardio. I ran a mile & 1/2 (15 mins @ 6.0 speed) & powerwalked about 10 mins then did a cool down walk. Then went onto the eliptical for the remainder of the workout for about 30 mins....then went into the jacuzzi of course. Now i feel the soreness all over my body. The cardio today intensified what i did yesterday. Doms (delayed onset muscle soreness) im trying to get as much protein in as possible so i can recover a little bit quicker. Tomorrow i go back to the gym again with tony to lift, but we're going to take it easy cause im sore, plus i have my free pt session with one of the trainers at the gym. I met him thru a friend 2 years ago & hes still working there, so ill be comfortable with someone i already know. I gave him a heads-up i was comming lol so we'll see what he says! Im excited =)

p.s. Just remembered the capslock as i was over half way thru writing this...o well. It happends

Looks like training is on track for you :) well done with your bench, that is a very small drop in strength for the amout of time you have had away from lifting. With a little effort you should see some good gains :)

oh i know! & thank you very much. i appreciate the motivation....do u think thats an imressive weight to lift with those reps for my size & without lifting for 8yrs?? i thought i totally lost all my stregnth. especially when i first started dieting & working out i was working with a 20 lb curl bar & it was heavy for me in the biginning. i was like 'omg! what is this crap?!" lol felt so weak...4 weeks later im liftin the real thing lol

here are the powerlifting grade levels in kg

I think you lifting well after not having lifted in 8 years. at the moment I am reaching the taper end of my training program ready for comp day on the 19th

ok so its been 2 weeks since i stopped losing weight. im certainly stuck so to speak. this plateau sucks! i did an abs class monday @ the gym & a cardio kickboxing class tuesday. yesterday(wednesday night) i did more fatburn cardio on the treadmill & some weight lifting...basically just maintenance lifting. nothing strenuous. i have to say ive had 3 meetings at work in a row mon-wed & the food they catered for the staff wasnt the type of food i diet with, but it was free so i ate it, just controlled my portions. gggrrr!!! im gettin frusterated & to make matters worse i havent heard from jason since the day before the 4th of july(hes deployed for those of you who dont know). so if seems as if part of my life has stopped. im constantly in 2 battles...weight loss & communicating/hearing from my soldier. what to do, what to do...:(
