State of PT industry, motivation, auto-regulatory training, and much more

I recently had the opportunity to interview Matthew Perryman. He's a friend and someone I consider one of the brightest minds in the biz. I've linked to his articles quite a bit over the years here on the forum. We had a sitdown where we discussed the man behind the computer, his book, online training, auto-regulatory training, the state of the industry, motivation, digital media marketing, and quite a bit more.

The article will span over three parts since I realize most have a bad case of ADD when reading on the net. I generally don't solicit people read articles I write but I felt this was a worthy read.

This is just part 1.

Thanks Kara. I was mainly teasing. I interview people for my own interests just as much as I do for educating/entertaining readers. So if nobody comments or reads, it's still all good.

Matt's target audience isn't so much the typical WLFer so I didn't expect this stuff to resonate with most here. Even though many of the concepts discussed are applicable to the masses here... the way he puts things isn't "user-friendly."

I respect a lot of what he has to say ... I just, unfortunately, can't read a lot of it at work because his site gets filtered/blocked at my job. He and I have had an online discussion about that before that didn't go so well.

I can see where that would be the case. Matt's hardheaded and abrasive. I've been friends with him for a number of years and frankly, I understand the position he takes. He's dealt with loads of bullshit. However, only he is responsible for putting himself in environments that breed stupidity. He's passionate about education, but given people's desire to look past gimmicks, a short fuse doesn't mesh well with said passion.

Plus, he says things to get various reactions.

Like I said in my first question or intro about him... love him or hate him, he's someone you should listening to if you spend some time under iron.
