Hello all!
I am new, so to introduce myself, my name's Colin, I'm a 27 year old male, from the USA, almost exactly 6' 0" tall, currently 214 lbs. I played football and baseball and ran track in highschool until I quit all three after junior year...and gained 50 lbs. All at my current height.
On Jan 1, a buddy of mine who is very competitive (like me) and I bet some money to see who could lose the largest % weight by March 31. I was 227 and he was 211 when we started; he's about 3" shorter than I am and a bit more muscular.
So, as you can see, I have lost 13 lbs so far in just under 4 weeks (Since that first week was a lot, I don't feel too bad about it being over 2 lbs per week)
My question for you all is, If I'm averaging around 1500 calories per day, plus working out and burning probably 300 calories per day (I'm doing the p90X system, but i doubt I'm fully up to speed yet, or i'd say more like 500-600 cal), even if it's all "good" calories, is that too few? How will I know if I'm going into starvation mode? I am really not hungry at night, and obviously I want to win...but I want to do it healthfully.
Please let me know what you think!
FYI:
today's menu-
fiber 1 bar for breakfast with a banana
100-calorie pack of sunchips for a snack, 1-1.5 cups of carrot sticks for another snack, 2 hard boiled eggs for lunch, 100-calorie yoplait yogurt, and half an avocado,
dinner I think we're having a lightly breaded salmon with rice or maybe red skinned potatoes. We might have the tilapia we bough though, either way, overall today I'm probably just under 1500 cal. Oh, that being said, I'll probably have a 100-200 cal snack tonight, too.
Normally I have a protein bar, 2 pieces of fruit, 1 serving of veggies, a lean cuisine or other similar lunch, a 'cheat' bag of 100-calorie chips and 4-5 glasses of water by the end of the work day (breakfast and lunch), and then a nice protein-rich dinner, usually 500 cal or less, and a small snack.
Should I eat more? :-/ I don't want to add crappy calories!
