I've just begun. I've been spying on this community for the last two years.

I'm so sick of being 300 pounds, I can't tell you the last time I've viewed a scale reading in at under 199 with my two feet over top of it.

I don't want to eat my way through my twenties. I just turned 21 in August.
I've been crying and praying and praying and praying some more to my Lord.

I need to fix this problem I've created through beinge eating alone.
This is only the beginning but with help from this forum I hope to find my end.

Thank you for viewing, your comments are appreciated.
Even the comments filled with tough love.

My goal is to lose 4 pounds a week until I've reached 200, if you know how it's done than please approach me! :seeya:

Me on the right at Chico State University.

300 pounds is nothing to smile about but here I am.

I have gone from 295lbs to my current weight of 186lbs in 14 months simply by lifting light weights (no more than 100lbs) and about 10 to 15 reps 4 nights a week, and 1 hour of cardio every night of the week. I never eat more than 1800 calories a day. I do still eat whatever I like, just not more than 1800 calories worth.

Oh and split your food up so you are eating every 2 to 3 hours during the day, don't go long periods between meals, even though it seems your eating to much, you'll loose weight faster eating the 1800 spread out than you will eating it in two or three huge meals. I still want to loose another 20 to 25lbs. Also - set a baseline of calories to burn each night during cardio - mine is 250, but if I break my diet any certain day and eat more than 1800 - I punish myself by burning however many extra calories I ate. Doesn't take long to learn to stop overeating LOL!

Weights are essential to loosing weight as well, cardio is great, but weights sure got things moving alot quicker for me. I never went heavy because I wanted to be tone, not a body builder look. Just my two cents! :)

Hello!

There is no need to be sad anymore. This site has helped so many people. Its not really about people telling you how to do it because everyone is different. But people do have tips and tricks to getting through your journey. First of all, this is a life style change, so you want to do it the healthy way and remain having the same habits through life. Check out the stickies on the pages and find out how many calories you should be eating a day and then minus a deficit and already you've cut calories. Keeping a journal helps and keeps you accountable for your actions (food and excercise wise).
Drink as much water as you can.
Biggest thing is:
Burn off more calories than you are taking in!

These are a few tips that have helped me. You can do this!!

Welcome Katiwhi. It has taken me 5 months to go from 265 to 216. I had tried previously and failed. What has worked for me is to make small changes that don't seem so dramatic. That way if I miss a day or have an off day a cheat day etc.. I don't feel so guilty about it and end up saying f it. I made one change at a time, something that I knew I could commit to. Stuck with that and when i started seeing results I was motivated to make another change. Eventually healthy decisions will be much easier and even an afterthought.

For example yesterday we had a christmas office party, and there was pizza, and I had a slice of pizza and grabbed a couple finger snacks. I got to eat what I wanted without feeling bad about it or like I was failing anything. Previously I might have 3 or 4 slices, drink it down with a soda, and munch on snacks throughout the day. Then go home and eat dinner too. But I knew right when i looked at the food about how many calories each bit was, and how many calories I wanted to take in for the day.

Use this site to educate yourself and find ways that you can make changes that you are comfortable with. And start small. Don't go trying to lose 100 pounds right off the bat. Try and lose 5 and see how you feel. Make one small change and stick to it for a couple of weeks. Then decide if you can or want to do more. Research here and find other area's where you can make changes.

Remember it's a process. Every time I get down i come here and read some of the success stories, and it always motivates me again. Good luck!

You can do it :) This place is a real inspiration, nine weeks ago I was 320, today I am 290- keeping myself accountable here with a diary recording what I eat on a day to day basis, and reading and commenting on other diaries, it's all very helpful. You don't even have to do anything drastic, anyone looking at what I post week in week out on my food diary will see I'm still eating varied and plenty- you just have to start understanding portion control, looking at places in your existing daily routine where you can make small but effective changes to introduce a little more exercise and then really working on willpower (as clichéd as it is, those first few weeks really are the hardest but from there on out it gets easier). The first thing you need to get to grips with is eating habits, once that's under the belt the sometimes scary world of notching up the exercise can start to be explored... good luck!

The first step has taken place: desire and joining a community for support.

The second step: connect with your SELF. Not your false self which is what you think you are and what others think you are. Your true self is spiritual, pure and beautiful. Connect through meditation and controlled breathing. Do this at minimum two times a day: early in the morning, and before you retire in the evening. you will find that meditation and efficient breathing will indeed work wonders.

Part of second step: Visit your doctor and get advice on levels of exercise and recommended foods for your needs. In other words, know your current physical health so as not to jeopardize yourself with inappropriate exercise programs.

Third Step: This is a big one: Don't worry about "diets." There I said it. All you need to do is limit your sugar and fat intake and eat only fresh unprocessed foods. The sugar is the biggest thing to control. Any kind of sugar whether it is starch, juices, fruits and of course white processed sugar. Limit your intake to under 50 grams a day. I followed Jorge Cruise's recommendation at had less than 25 grams a day! It is possible and you get used to it. By the way, I lost 26 pounds in 6 weeks: all around the belly!

If you do this, your eating habits will be a pleasure that sticks!

The Fourth Step: Moderate exercise. I used to be a weight lifter, distance runner, crazy fitness buff; almost had to being in Special Forces. Today, I take care of my body instead of abusing my body with strenuous exercise. And, that is all you need to do. Go for 30 minute walks and don't worry about the pace. There are so many good programs out there, but I must say that your body needs stretching and gentle movement more than anything else. Check into Yoga. With Yoga your body, mind and spirit get trained. There is nothing better.

Combine these steps and don't worry. Don't beat yourself up. Love yourself and know you are on a journey that will take you far beyond your physical life.

I hear you! i was 330lb, i went down to 160, but couple years down the track after surgery and injurys i regained a bit so heading back down again :)

Join in the fun!

You must be tall for 300lbs because I don't see it. And btw I don't say this often but you are gorgeous! Wish I looked that good at 300. Anyway coincidence....before I moved to Ohio with my husband I used to live in Redding CA, near Chico and Chico State University :)

There's a diary section on this website alot of us use, good for venting and keeping track of stuff. Also we visit each other at our journals and offer encouragement and support :) Hope you make one so we can all come by and visit.

I agree with douknow...you look very pretty in spite of your weight. Lodi is a nice, quaint little town my dad lives near...so double coincidence :p Anyway, we are all rooting for you. You can do it :)

Man you carry 300lbs well. The 2 best things I did were:

1. Join myfitnesspal.com and log ALL my food, staying 1000 calories under my daily caloric intake to maintain my weight. (2lbs a week)
2. Make weekly commitments to workout, putting them in the book ahead of time.

Don't get discouraged if you don't lose 4lbs a week. Losing weight is weird trip and you and your body are going to go through some serious changes. Good luck.

Thanks!

I read every single reply, and I'm completley blown away by the responses.

Very motivational, and I've officially started, one reply said, "First step has been completed now that you've joined this site for support." And you couldn't be more right! I feel like it only confirms it and helps so much more than snooping through every post while making none for myself! I was so nervous to have even made one in fear that someone might know me on here or what have you but I'm glad I did and now thinking back on it I could care less truley because I'm doing something for me, and if they find it humerous than I'm glad I was able to provide them with a good laugh but I'll be here until the good fights been won.

Second thing I've been reading that most of you have all said in one part or another of your replys is "Make a food journal!" I will be making one off this site, I think I'll mainly be using a notebook because that'd be along side of me the whole day vs. my laptop.

The third thing is, is all of you gave me a calorie limit that was well under 2000 calories.

I will be putting all these good tips to use as they must have helped because those amazing testimoneys of all that weight lossed seems more than sufficent!

Can't thank you enough, especially for the compliments, a lot of people say I carry my weight well and yes I am quite tall 5'8 (for whoever had asked), I guess after stepping off the scale and looking in the mirror all I see are the numbers. It must go. If I'm attractive now I can only imagine what 190 holds!!

Great way to start the New Year fo'sho!:grouphug:
