Hello there :) Im not sure if im doing this right so i apologize in advance if i type too much; its so liberating being able to share this with a lot of wonderful people that understand what im going through?.. Anyways..i decided to join this site because my weight gain has become terrifying, and honestly i need a lot of support and inspiration! I am a nineteen year old woman and weigh 300lbs at 5'8 (yeah 300lbs is a lot but concidering the fact i NEVER exercise, and eat/ate everything and alot im suprised it isnt in the 500's haha). I tried doing diets when i was younger but never kept up with them because..well i love food and didnt really understand nutrition and how calories work, then again what ten year old wants to listen to that. Starting today i am commiting myself to getting the fat off. I want to go down to atleast 215lbs (yeah thats not a healthy weight, but to me thats nice..and realistic) I am starting to eat more fruits and some veggies and ive been exercising (walk briskly) for atleast 30 mins a day...not adding what i do at work and home... and for snacks i either have fiber one nutrition bars, or any other low cal. snack bar i can find. For breakfast i have a slimfast shake (its very convenient specially since i dont like breakfast in general) ,snack in between, then have a nice dinner. I try to drink more water, if not i have flavored 0 cal water, or sparkling water.
I really want to stay encouraged and to anyone who has been or is in the process of being succesful how do you stay on track and keep cravings out? Also, how long did it take you to loose some weight.? This is day 3 of my new diet and its been pretty tough. but i know it will be worth it. If anyone wants to chat sometime feel free to i love making new friends :bigear:

1. I stay on track because I need to, honestly. I spent my first month dedicating most of my energy to getting my eating routine down to a habit, so I barely even have to think about eat well anymore, I just do it.

2. To lose some weight? How much is some? My first month I lost 10lbs. I'm now down 21.

hey kenken,
welcome to the forum...i'm also in the 300+ pounds club and hoping to loose it once and for all. the forum is great for encouragement and support.

i'd suggest going to the nutrition stickies because they have lots of guideline info on where to start with nutrition, and also exercise.

to answer your question...my one piece of advice would be if at first you don't succeed, then dust yourself off and try again and again till you finally do. (at the moment i'm dusting myself off lol! so wanna try again).

all the best in your journey :)
