Starches!?

Hey so ive been learning more about carbohydrates, and im wondering now if starches are also bad cus i find lots of food either has a lot of starches or sugar. I know to stay away from the high sugar carbs but should i be staying away from the starches as well?
 
Yes, there are low glycemic carbs (refined sugars mainly) and high glycemic carbs (potatoes, pasta, whole grain bread). The high glycemic carbs burn slower keeping you feeling full longer.

Starches like sweet potatoes and oatmeal are excellent have in your diet, especially for post-workout meals.
