Spreadsheet formula calorie counter

When I was looking for a calorie counter, I always stumbled upon these counters were you have to select your average speed. I never encountered the exact formula.
So I'm looking for a formula where you have to put in your weight, age, sex (maybe hight), the kind of activity (especialy running and cycling), distance and avg speed.
thanks in advance

I will say formulas are not that helpful. It gives you an idea but scientifically is not that accurate. My suggestion is do not worry about formulas, such as speed, hearth beat, etc... calorie count software is available at google.

Is that for calculating the calories expended? Do you have a link to the page you are talking about? For example the formula for BMI (BMI only tells one side of the story and many disagree with it) :-

Code:
BMI = ( Weight in Kilograms / ( Height in Meters ) x ( Height in Meters ) )

There are a lot of online calorie counters, but I'm looking for formulas because using a spreadsheet is far more convenient to me.
Using these and other websites, I can guess the formulas a litte:

So I'm looking for something like this
running:
age*parameter + weigth*pm + kilometers*pm = amount of calories burnt ..
cycling: ...

Is this what you are looking for?

I can send you this through E-Mail in Excel 2007 format. If you dont have excel 2007, I will convert it to 2003 or earlier:

"I have my own personal system set up" with the activities I do in accordance to the approximated calories burned during exercise in a different workbook, that is connected to the Base workbook containing the original MT Line calculations, and the MT Line is likewise adjusted dependent on activity input.

I do not mess around with the ALMIGHTY CALORIE, baby!

Calories burned calculators usually use the following formula :-

MET said:
The calories burned calculator estimates the amount of calories you will burn by performing the specified activity for a given amount of time. It is based on the use of metabolic equivalent (MET) intensity levels, where 1 MET is the resting metabolic rate while sitting quietly. The METs used in this calculator come from "Compendium of Physical Activities: An update of activity codes and MET Intensities", Journal of the American College of Sports Medicine: Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, September 2000.

Code:
Calories Burned = Duration in Minutes x ((MET x 3.5 x weight in kg)/200).

General rule of thumb for telling the difference between light, moderate, and vigorous intensity:

* Light Intensity: You can sing loudly while performing the activity.
* Moderate Intensity: You can carry on a conversation while performing the activity.
* Vigorous Intensity: You are too winded to carry on a conversation while performing the activity.

See an example

wow, looks great, that's exactly what I'm looking for.
I can't pm you because I still don't have 5 post. Can you pm me your email address, so I can mail you my email?

thanks in advance

Calorie Calculator - Entire METS Table

The entire METS table is loaded in so you can determine calorie burn based on everything from a Average Run to Walking up Stairs carrying 10lbs.

You can also calculate your BMI using this calculator.

Other interesting activities include cycling, household chores, sports, etc.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Hi everybody, first time poster here. I’ve been using a sort of mapping system by Telenav. It is really useful to me because I can see other people’s bike routes and the best part is calculating the calories I can burn. (see it here: maps.telenav.com/tnmap/. Just wondering if anybody has a calorie counter they recommend?

Hello Chillen! I'm new here, but I really liked the Excel (2007) SS you built from an earlier forum. May I get a copy? I am still using Excel 2003.

I'm always keeping track of my workouts, etc., and it has become quite cumbersome. Yours looks so much more organized and complete.

Appreciate it very much.
