Splenda Lovers Beware

i never thought of splenda as a natural sweetener anyway, despite their advertising. but i dont have a problem using it. there are probably people out there that have adverse/allergic reactions to sugarm, too. i personally believe 'everything is ok in moderation', to paraphrase CA's governor. :)

who would honestly think that a sugar substitute was natural? Duh

anyways, I can't have more than a few teaspoons/day otherwise I get really gassy....

i decided i'm giving up my splenda and no salt and going back to the real stuff. i dont alot of it anyway so it wont be a big deal for me. :)

Depends on the sugar-alternative. Nutrasweet and aspartame are both linked to cancer - though that doesn't mean they directly or necessarily cause it. Jello Gelatin contains aspartame, so I eat it anyway. It's hard to tell with a lot of these alternatives how much is too much, or whether it's worth using (or not using) sugar alternatives at all.

the amount of aspartame that caused cancer when injected into rats though was an astronomical amount. Taking into account the difference in a rat and a human body, I think I read that it was the same as drinking 50 diet pepsi bottles for a month. I may be wrong about that though.

The whole debate is so confusing for me that I stay away from both natural and alternatives. I guess the only time I have artificial is when I have a diet coke and I imagine they put sugar or otherwise into the occasional cappucino I have from the Mobil station. If I do have coffee I just put up with it black...
