is anybody else into spinning?how did you find it in temrs of weight loss.
i trying to vary the exercise i do i go to the gym 5 times a week and do 45mins to an hour plus i do toning exercises on top three times a week. i start gonig spinning twice a week i enjoy it as a calss but just wondering how it is in terms of loosing weight xx

I spin 5 - 6 days a week for an hour to high resistance and speed and I never sit down. Plus I do weights and core work. I've been doing it for about 3 1/2 years now.

That combined with a better diet - less processed food and a better balance of food in general - has resulted in being at the leaner end of my optimum weight and I have much lower fat levels and more muscle now.

I think doing a strong cardio programme did help with the weight loss inasmuch as I expended more energy than I consumed and it has had added benefits in terms of improved heart, lung and circulation performance.

However, I suspect it doesn't matter what type of cardio you do. Some people run (I did run but it eventually caused lower back issues) or use ellipticals (I don't happen to like the movement) or rowers (which I find boring) or any other sort of movement that raises your heart rate and keeps it there.

So, if you enjoy doing cardio through spinning then go for it. And if you get into it you can make it more challenging by raising resistance and speed.

Good for you!

I really like spinning - it's low impact, never had an injury yet, it has improved the shape and definition of my legs, standing (rather than sitting) has strengthened my core, leaning on the handle bars works the arms & at speed and resistance it really works the cardio hard.

So, if you are enjoying spinning then keep going!! :)

Spinning is great for, well, nice legs basically! I realised this when I recently started taking my to work instead of the bus...wasn't even thinking of weight loss, more just saving time and money! Then after about a month of the fifteen minute ride to and from work I noticed a real change when looking in the mirror...my legs had become so much more toned - not overly muscly mind, but just right (if I may say so myself!).

And if you stand up / lean forward a lot, it tones your butt too!
