Spin off- When did EVERYONE see results?

I saw InItToWinIt's post and it made me curious... When did everyone start seeing a physical change in their bodies and when did you start feeling an internal change in your bodies?

I started seeing "results" after two weeks into my lifestyle change. I started exercising and my eating habits started to change little by little as I learned how to eat healthier.

The results I saw were not huge but it let me know that what I was doing was taking me into the right direction.

When I really saw major results was a week ago (two months into my lifestyle change). I have 16 lbs of fat loss but mostly what I'm seeing or feeling is lean muscle development. My legs are becoming harder and my arms are becoming more defined.

I started to feel more active within the first two weeks too. But I think my activity level and my willingness to actually workout is so much better. Even my husband sometimes says "honey... lets rest today ok?" and I say "no lets go go go!" LOL

Four days ago I realized I have been feeling less stressed out lately. For some reason, I'm thinking more positively. I even went to the store with a sleeveless shirt on!!! That's from a tiny bit of new found confidence.

I think you can also say you feel results just from the way you have to increase your workout routines to get any results. I can no longer do 20 ab crunches/punch ups or something like that. I have to do a lot more to feel the burn now. Also, today I got up to do a walk in my neighborhood using the same route I took last time and was not feeling as exhausted as before. Actually, I was thinking of going to the gym for another 30 min right after...

Those are my results thus far. ^_^

I've lost nearly 40 lbs and so far can't really see any results unless I stand naked in the mirror and really look myself over. My boyfriend says my face is a tad thinner. lol Yay, I worked my butt off to lose forty pounds in the past 3 1/2 months just so that I can have a slightly thinner face... whoo hoo. lol No but seriously, I know that with someone my size it's going to take a DRASTIC weight loss (maybe 100+ lbs) before anyone will actually be able to see a difference if they aren't looking for it. It's cool though, I know that in the end when I've lost 245 lbs and reach goal weight that it will all be worth it! :D

As for feeling a difference? Within two weeks or so of my new lifestyle change I really started feeling the difference. I felt really good for the first time in years! More energy, more alertness, even a slight improvement in my agility and just over all improved vitality all within 2 or 3 weeks. But once I lost 25 lbs I really started feeling lighter. Things like carrying 7 or 8 bags of groceries up the flight of stairs to my apartment was so much easier! Now at almost 40 lbs gone I am doing things physically that I haven't been able to do since high school! I love it! lol :D

I lost over 100 lbs since August 2008. Personally, I don't 'see' any changes. Not even naked in front of the mirror, it all looks just as bad as before.

I notice changes in clothes, and people comment, but I just can't see it.

As for 'feeling' the differences - a few things are easier. Tying shoelaces without getting out of breath is nice, and stuff like that. But running up a flight of stairs still makes me feel as if I'll go into cardiac arrest at any given moment. :(

So....I'm still waiting for results I guess.

San, I hope you haven't gotten discouraged. Your comment and your signature makes me hope that you can still get highly motivated so that you can reach your goal.
Losing 100 pounds is a great accomplishment whether you can physically see it or not.

Good job by the way. I'm trying to lose 100 pounds too. ^_^

Hey San! If people are noticing and clothes are fitting differently then there is definitely changes going on. If you can't see those changes but other people can it's most likely a mental block. Many of us have distorted images of ourselves. Realizing what we see in the mirror and what is actual reality might be two very different things is going a long way to over come those distorted images we have about ourselves.

How much more weight do you want to lose before reaching goal? What is your goal weight?

I was discouraged for a while, and actually put some weight back on, but am back on track now and have started losing again. For now, I will just ignore the mirror on the wall, and instead let other people be my 'mirror'. I just don't seem to see myself like others do, so yes, it's kind of a mental block.

I started at around 385, managed to get down to 250, now back up to 285...was up to 300 again, but lost 15 in the meantime. So yeah...still at it. Just took a break for a while.

My goal weight is about 200, give or take a few, depending on how I feel then. I have no set weight, but I'm 5"11 and have a generally rather 'large' frame, so 200 should be okay.

As for noticing things....well, I went from size 32/34 jeans to size 22 at the moment (UK size), so yes, I KNOW the difference is there, I just can't see it in the mirror. It's weird...when I was at my heaviest, I looked in the mirror and couldn't see HOW fat I really was. Now I can't seem to see anything else.....

The human mind is a confusing thing, I tell you! *lol*

Since this is a spin-off of my original post, I thought I would chime in. Hehe.

Physically, standing in my birthday suit in the mirror, I don't really see any changes. Since May, I've gone from over 300 pounds to 265 pounds (today's weigh-in).

However ....

- people comment all the time on how good I'm looking (whether they know I'm trying to lose weight or not)
- Internally, I feel better. I have more energy, and simple things, like climbing 3 flights of stairs at school, don't make me cringe anymore.
- I used to have a really bad knee (not weight related -- I have a condition that I've had since I was a child .... but the weight accelerated the pain) -- and I've noticed that the pain has subsided.
- and the best news of all ...... when I would go clothes shopping before I would need a size 22 or 3X. While, my aunt brought over some of her clothes she doesn't want anymore for my mom, and they were all sizes 16-18 .... and I thought "what the heck" and tried some on. While they are still snug, I was able to physically put a size 16 on!!! I know I still have a long way to go -- but just the motivation of being able to put on size 16 shirts ... when before I couldn't even get my arms into the sleeves ..... it's enough motivation to keep me going.

And if I keep going ... one day I hope to see the physical changes myself :)

-After a week or two of eating clean and drinking a lot of water I noticed I FELT better. (3-5lb loss)

-About a month into it I noticed small changes. My collar bones peek out, my wrists are smaller, my ring is loose, I had to tighten my bras to the next smallest clasp, etc. (10lb loss)

-Two months in, I noticed more. most of my jeans have saggy-butt syndrome. A few of my tank tops have gotten baggy and look silly now. I was lazy this month and barely worked out at all, and was bummed my loss seemed low.(13ish lb loss)

-Now, about 2.5 months in, my jeans are close to falling off my butt, and i'm wearing 1 size smaller. My back fat (ew) has all but disappeared! My shirts are all noticeably looser. My arms have definition, my collar bones are more pronounced, and my fat calves have been replaces with a more defined version. I've had to retire several shirts all together. (21 lb loss as of today)

I started seeing changes MUCH faster when I started incorporating daily workouts about at the 2 month mark. Remember that icky back fat I mentioned? It was all there 17 days ago, when I started working out. Today? All gone!

My starting weight was also 385. But you're a few inches taller than I am, so my goal weight is quite a bit less.

You're right, the human mind is very confusing. I'm glad that you'll be letting other external factors be your mirror, as it sounds like you might need to get in touch with the reality of your body. From what you've told me you've lost 100 lbs from your highest weight, that's an amazing accomplishment! And even given your starting weight there would definitely be a visual physical difference. :)

I'm glad you're back on track! Have you started a food journal yet? That helps SO MUCH! :D

its a good idea to keep track with measurements and pictures, because after a while we forget what we used to look like. I found a picture yesterday of me when I was probably 230 or so, and my face is huuuuge! lol I cringed a little bit, and I can go look in the mirror now at 209 and see those chipmunk cheeks are gone so I know somethings changing.

Mentally: First couple of days when I rid myself of fast food, restaurants and pop/soda

Physically: I started noticing recently that my skin is 70x tighter then it was last year... it actually took me an entire year to notice that. I looked back on some pictures and the difference just shocked the heck out of me. I was 160 in the one picture I saw... I'm 180 right now and look leaner now.

I saw InItToWinIt's post and it made me curious... When did everyone start seeing a physical change in their bodies and when did you start feeling an internal change in your bodies?

For me, it was about 2 weeks after I started trying to lose weight. After 2 FULL weeks of watching my calorie intake, lifting weights and getting on the treadmill at least 5 times a week, I started noticing physical changes in my body.

Personally, I also noticed that my body goes through physical changes (looks wise) in waves. I can go 2 or 3 weeks and look like I'm losing weight, but then immediately follow it up by going a week or two without looking like I'm losing anything at all. And, the cycle just continues. So, I just kind of taught myself to not be so aware of how I look or how much I weigh. I can't control exactly how my body loses weight, where it loses weight or even when it loses weight...so I just go with the flow. Instead of paying attention to the numbers in my weight or the appearance of my body on a routine basis, I just try to stay patient and let a good amount of time go by before I take inventory on the changes I've gone through. Then, after a few weeks have passed, I'll take a good look at myself and take notice of any changes that have happened. So...yeeeeeah.
