I don't think a large amount of weight loss makes for an 'expert' either...Man, if you think you're an expert after 5 pounds you really need a wake up call. 5 pounds is nothing compared to some of the things people have done on here!

It's really not a fair fight and makes for a lousy argument... you at least have to spar with someone who's got some bit of knowledge... bloodbaths get old very quickly...
Patience grasshopper patience
Again, I'm really uncomfortable defending people here, but if people are only shown one way - and that way was effective for them, it's not really ignorance or stupidity - they just don't know any better... it's when they are shown other methods - and refuse to adopt them, and continue in their original path,, then it's ignorance and stupidity..
exactly the question I ask when we have 'experts' come into this forum![]()
I'm not sure it's brainwashed actually -but it's that people have finally found something that has worked for them - and my non-expert self says that it's worked for them becaue they were finally in a place to make anything work for them - spark just happened to be in the right place at the right time.. but some people need a crutch or a security blanket and by questioning that... it's killing security and adding doubt..And more so, the issue I've taken is what you say right here in this very post.... the people don't like being questioned on anything that isn't SP approved.
Hi, S
We appreciate that you're willing and able to spend time sharing your knowledge and experience on our message boards, but some of your posts aren't appropriate under our community guidelines (see link at the top of the main community page), and we also don't allow using our site to promote products, businesses, or other sites.
In one post today, for example, you used the word "stupid" to characterize another member's use of the idea of "shocking your muscles" instead of the more correct notion of "overload". Technically, you were correct, and I agree with the idea that obsessing about variety can be counterproductive--but the message gets lost when you tell someone they're being stupid, don't you think? That's just going to make them defensive and close them down, not open them to a different way of thinking.
We make a real point here of avoiding this kind of problem, and we expect our members to avoid using that kind of language/approach, and to keep the discussion friendly and supportive. So, I deleted that post. Feel free to replace the info without the slams, if you want. I've also deleted the comment you made on your own sparkpage inviting people to another weight loss site you're involved in. We don't have the staff resources to check out sites like this, and the internet is full of sites with bad info, so we have to go with a policy of asking members not to recommend or promote other programs. I happen to know that site a little and it seems pretty good, but we can't allow exceptions to the policy without ending up with a million complaints about why some and not others.
Thanks for your cooperation.
Coach Dean
I figured it was a matter of time before a moderator contacted me. I go against the grain around here obviously and different is not always good in the eyes of the masses.
Plus, I moderate a large, relatively speaking, weight loss forum myself and I see a ton of "self-proclaimed" gurus come and go.... so I understand your concern.
Let me speak directly to what you wrote here:
*********we also don't allow using our site to promote products, businesses, or other sites.*********
Hmmm, I didn't promote a product, business, or site. What are you referring too?
*********In one post today, for example, you used the word "stupid" to characterize another member's use of the idea of "shocking your muscles" instead of the more correct notion of "overload". Contrary to what you say here, I didn't say someone was being stupid. Just b/c I think a concept is stupid certainly doesn't mean I think a person is stupid.
I'm not here to play with semantics though.... I'll tone it down on that front. No more calling concepts stupid.... I'll simply refute with facts. Not opinions.
********We make a real point here of avoiding this kind of problem, and we expect our members to avoid using that kind of language/approach, and to keep the discussion friendly and supportive. So, I deleted that post. ***********
Wow!
That's ashamed.
Really not a fan of censorship.... but it's not my community.
Could you do me a favor and send me via email that post so I can do away with the "stupid" bit? This way the sound information still stands on the public forum.
*********Feel free to replace the info without the slams, if you want. I've also deleted the comment you made on your own sparkpage inviting people to another weight loss site you're involved in. ***********
Oh, that's what you were talking about above.
So you moderate even the conversations too. Ok, I'll stick with email on that front, understood.

No exclamation needed.... there's a lot of BS out there.
********I happen to know that site a little and it seems pretty good, but we can't allow exceptions to the policy without ending up with a million complaints about why some and not others.**********
Again, understood.
That is a forum I moderate and it tends to be a little less opinionated and more factual than the forums here. That's why it was recommended.
But it certainly won't happen again in a public facility related to SP.
