Hi! New here. :newbie:

18 years old. Female. Just moved away to college this past summer. Have had a rocky past and every time I tripped over a rock I'd hit my face on a plate of food. ;)

My grandma taught me that. Grandmas are good for that. Now grandma's not around and I still eat to comfort myself.

My weight has gone up and down like a confused yo-yo since I was about 8. The harsh realization that food doesn't comfort me at all but merely magnifies my problems hit me in the face its hardest, I'd say, a year ago.

Here's the thing. Last September, my weight was 200 pounds. That is no gooood. I'm merely 5'4.

Now it's 175 after all the walking around campus and the eating a lot less, which is a bit better, but still 40 pounds upwards of my ideal.

I'm busy often; my schedule's kinda weird, so frequently I forget to eat or fall asleep before I can work out or don't get home until very late which does not help my cause! :ack2: But I've sort of mapped out a decent routine, plus my weekends are 72-hour ones and free enough to secure an hour or two of exercise each day.

Down 40 by the beginning of June is my goal. I'm workin' on it.

Thanks! :seeya:

WELCOME TO THIS FORUM!!

72 hours weekend? O.O" 2 days are 48 hours... You mean Friday, Saturday and Sunday?

What is your plan to lose weight? 40 lbs in 4 months can be done......
I want to lose 41 lbs in 6 months and I have lost 10 lbs in 1 month.. So yeah...

But what is your kinda strategy to diet and exercise?

You already lost 25 lbs... great job! That's already more than 35%...!

Good luck on your journey.

72-hour weekends, yes. My Friday tasks are complete after around 1PM. So, from Friday afternoons until Sunday evenings I'm much more free, giving me time to focus on my health and diet whereas, during busy weeks, I may often neglect it!

I try to work out at least 4 times a week, an hour and a half per workout (sometimes I break it up: I work out for 30 minutes upon waking up, and when I get back from school and work at night I'll do an hour). I eat breakfast before class, and then before work I eat something light, like a salad. After a workout (usually at night), I grab a banana and some skim milk to squander any late-night cravings.

I tend to eat lots on Friday nights because I'm often my most social then. Going out to dinner, parties, etc. can ruin a diet plan. So I've decided that to I'll allow Fridays to be the days where I can eat a little more; that way I don't binge as much throughout the week because I know there's only a few more days until Friday. It's worked thus far!

Not to that mention all the walking around campus, as I stated, is helpful.

Sounds great.. if you Friday eat a bit more can't harm...
Be sure you eat a BIT more......

I am curious how much you will lose... GOOD LUCK!

Welcome to the forum! We sound very similar. I'm around the same height and weight as you, only I'm just finished with my undergrad and I'm in my first year of graduate school now. My weight went NUTS when I got to college. I had always been chubby, but for whatever reason I just really put on a ton of weight, fluctuating between 160 and 185 throughout the last four years.

Sounds like you have a good routine worked out, just don't make the mistake I made (eating like a bear about to hibernate during the winter and then nearly starving myself during the spring/summer) and try to find a routine that you can stick with. Good luck! My goal is to lose 40 lbs by June as well--we can do it!
