Hello,
I am not hear to blast you so don't think that. But I have a few thoughts for you.
I agree that all children should be held accountable for their actions. But we should not teach them about fall back plans. Of course they are going to take the easier route that is what kids do. Kids should be taught that it takes hard work to achieve their goals and how great it feels when they do.
I also think that trends that kids go thru is up to them. Do you want your child to fit in for you or for them? Kids figure it out in time we have to give them the tools to make the right choices. I have a nephew living with us and he came to us at the age of 15. He has never been taught a healthy lifestyle so now he lives in a house that does not buy junk food. If he eats it at school then fine at least at home I know he is getting everything he needs to be healthy. Let me tell you how hard it is to teach a child who has never been taught anything. We also tell him on an everyday basis that the easy way out does not work for us. We in this family works hard to achieve our goals. We tell him it wont be easy and allot of the times it is not but there really should not be any other way. Life is not easy.
Good luck,
Tina
