*looks around* Hey, this is a nice place you've got here.

I found this forum today while I was looking for information on fitday and their calorie burning issue. It looked like such a great spot, I thought I'd come in and stay for a while....if y'all don't mind.

I can't wait to read the diaries and all the information that's packed in here. Everyone has such amazing stories. It's nice to know I'm not the only one going through the dieting crazys.

So, how are ya? I'm Wendy, but everyone calls me JJ. I'm a married 42 year-old hockey mom. I'm passionate about weightlifting, and would love to find the time and energy to run more than I do. I enjoy getting to the gym every day, but just can't seem to move the stubborn bodyfat no matter what I do! Any and all advise is welcome, I assure you.

I'll probably do up a diary shortly, but in the meantime, here's a link to my where I wail on about my metabolism woes.

Hi JJ! Welcome :) I'm sure you will love this place even more as you get into it....I know I have. You should definitely start a diary on here though so people can chat with you on it, its quite fun lol. Well, I hope to keep seeing you around :)

Hi JJ. Great to see women who are into weight lifting. I don't know what to say about your metabolism. Did you have your thyroid checked, just to rule that out?

Hey somethingnew and TomO, thanks for the welcome. I'll work on the diary this weekend, and Tom, I never thought about a thyroid issue. I'll bring it up to my dr when I have my next checkup. Hopefully I'll have managed to 'wake' it up by then and be on my way to losing.

Hi jumpingjack!

You play hockey? Field hockey? I was a hockey player too, but somehow stopped playing. Urgh, maybe cause I was lazy to go for trainings. Anw, I saw on TV the other day, Discovery channel that sometimes a person can't seem to lose that last few pounds because the body has reached a plateau. It just won't budge. However, the recommendation was, you got to increase whatever you're doing. In a sense that, if you have been running on the tredmill for 1hour at a certain gradient, the body will then accustom itself to that, so you gotta run longer or increase the gradient.

Just my 2cents.

First, welcome to the forum. :)

Second, I don't have the time right now to read your livejournal, but look forward to seeing your new diary here.

If your weight loss is stalled, let me ask you this:

How much weight have you lost? How many calories are you consuming? When is the last time you took a break (as in upped your cals)?

Hey kikin! Nah, I don't play hockey - I just watch my son play ice hockey (it's much safer and a lot warmer :) ). You play field hockey? Is that different from lacrosse? If it doesn't involve skates, I don't know much about it - but I suspect there's a ton of running

Thanks for the heads up about plateaus. I've had those before for sure. But to answer both you and Steve *waves*, I've actually just started this month with watching my food/calories intake (1400 average/day) and my expenditure (according to fitday its around 3000). I'm sure I'll hit a plateau somewhere along the way though :)

I've set up a diary and will work diligently and keeping it updated. I might even try hard not to be silly while doing it :D
