some suggestions please?

Hi, im 17 and i have been skinny my whole life, i am 5'8 120 lbs and i am trying to build my muscles due to the fact i look like a walking stick... if anyone can give me routines to do, id be greatly appreciative... so far, all ive done is, every other day, as many pushups as i can do, around 40 - 50, about 60 sit ups, curls with 10 lbs weights... i dont count those, i just keep doing them until it hurts so much i cant take it, then i do it all over again twice more...

i havent really seen any improvements, but i keep driving myself... if anyone can give me any pointers, routines, or tell me something im doing wrong, i would like that very much :)

also, i did the hardest workout i think ive ever done, and now im sick, and all my muscles hurt like the dickens... is it just coincidence?

hey!

im pretty much the same place you are.
i am 120 pounds and 5'8. age 14. i look so strange because nothing is toned. my body has barely any curves, my arms are shapless sticks. right now im trying to gain some weight because im so under the ideal weight. but nothings happening. i dont really have any ideas for exersizes to do. when i find some ill be sure to tell you. right now all im doing is working on our weight machine. along with doing push ups and other basic exersizes.

good luck!

at least someone is on the same page as me :p maybe if someone gives some suggestions me n u can have a competition on it? :D just a suggestion :D

Cherrygal and Onion,

Gaining weight really comes down to calories. How many do you eat everyday? Track the foods you ingest for 4 days and find out. To gain weight, you have to eat slightly more calories than your body needs for the day.

Exercise is important, but keep in mind - If you are not supplying enough food to the body, exercise won't generate optimal muscle development or maximize fat loss.

Infrequent eating, low calorie intake, and exercising make for a bad combination.

actually i take in about... 3200 calories per day.. from what it says on the packages and stuff :D

but i guess i got some crazy ass metabolism...

i eat alot, and i mean alot... im usually eating the whole day, some snack here and there while im at home, i eat so much i get so frustrated when im not gaining any weight... its annoying... are there any foods that are out there for gaining weight but also gaining muscle? Like supplements?

you're gonna have to eat more than that if you're not gaining. years ago i had to eat over 5000 calories just to maintain the weight i had gained. i was a skinny ectomorph who never sat still and i had a very demanding job.

i used weight gain supplements to help but stopped when i realized they were just protein and sugar. better choices out there and that. ;)

Okay!!!

WELL! IM BACK! And now after my 19th birthday im 140. In 2 years i gained 20 lbs. Well... im still a walking stick. Ive been way more into gaining now. I eat alot. Nowhere near the 3200 i said i ate before... but now my arms are gaining tone, but no mass! I've been working hard and eating alot. I dont know how many calories... but i think my calorie maintenance is around 2600 calories... saw the formula in the weight training section. Anyway... i am really really really into trying to gain weight and keep it on and make it look good.

Unfourtunately i am a bit strapped for cash. So all i have to work with is my own body weight, and two 25lb db's, which i admit, were really heavy when i first got them, not they are manageable. Would something like that cause damage? Also... Can anyone help me out with gaining ALOTand FAST? Like... What to eat, when to eat it, what to work on what days, and how to change it up. I tried making a workout plan, but got frustrated and decided to give this another try on here.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

You need to get to a gym, someone, anyhow.

Only through increased loading will you develop more muscle than fat.

Stagnating at a single load will eventual cause a shift from type II (strength) fiber to type I. Type II has the most growth potential, so you need to keep recruiting it as much as possible.

Note, this assumes your diet is good!
