Some intense conditioing

I had posted earlier about how I was looking to get back in shape while building muscle. Well I found something that so far is the most intense conditioning I have done, when I am done it stacks up to 7 mile runs I used to do.

A few weeks ago I joined a Muay Thai class. Learned basic punches, elbows, blocks, and some slight leg work. That was cake, but when it got to the cardio session of the class thats where it steps the level up lol. 5 mins jump rope (never knew that jumping rope could get a good sweat going), kicking and kneeing thai pads for 1 min straight then switching legs (2 sets of that), 30 seconds of very fast one two punches, followed by 30 seconds of pushups, then do it all over again, then its more pad work and such.

When I was done I was dripping, out of breath, granted my intensity wasnt as high as others but there were in the same conditioning as me.

I still get frustrated because I am learning the basics as of now and I keep making dumb mistakes, I tend to drop my hands a lot, not rotate my hips through punches and such. But other than that, I have faith that this would get anyone in shape, so far I go 3 times a week for 2 hours.

I don't know...you'd be suprised. Diet is still a huge factor. There are tons of really experienced guys in MA who are out of shape.

I really don't like MA classes which have massive cardio workouts. I feel that if I'm paying £5 for an hours lesson, I want to be learning for an hour. I can run skip and jump in my own time for free!

Agreed. my MA class usually has some cardio workouts though, but its because of the high intensity we have when we do the techniques.
learning strikes and kicks on pads with high intensity is good too i think, you learn what you are suppose to learn, and at the same time you get your cardio.

Yeah I think so too. Class should be a time of instruction. Even if your instructor tells you to hit the bags, he should be standing there correcting you. I've had the misfortune of seeing a good percentage of an entire class execute ****ty technique while their more than qualified instructor was just sitting on his ass.
