Sole of my foot...?

So, I did squats, deads, and bench yesterday; but something is KILLING my foot. I'm not really sure what it is, but the sole of my left foot feels swollen, almost bruised. My girlfriend mentioned that she's sprained her "arch" before when doing uphill running; anyone heard of this happening from squats/deads?
Any ideas?

it could be heel spurs or plantar faciaitis....
maybe time to look into an orthotic if y ou don't wear them already.y

yes, it sounds like plantar fasciitis to me as well. It's a ligamend band under your foot that if overstretched (when foot flattens too much when squatting for example) can swell and cause pain. Take a look at this one.

Hope it helps

I think this is what I have as well. Would someone with this injury also have difficulty flexing their foot when walking? 'Cause I feel that more often. I only feel the heel pain when I'm walking down stairs.

According to the link, I have sort of jumped into HIIT and, about a couple of months ago, I added squats to my workout.

Today's workout the pain was especially bad. I was walking home with some pain centered a little far back from the middle of my left foot. Walking faster lessened the pain but I can feel it now just walking around my apartment.

I really don't wanna change my routine. I don't mind switching to jogging for some time from HIIT (I sucked at it anyway) but I'd like to continue doing squats. I'll see if my conditions improve after a couple of weeks, then I might have to drop squats as well.

What's the difference between plantar fasciitis and heel spurs? I didn't quite understand it even after Googling it.

easton - firstly you need to stop running right now. running will only serve to worsten your condition since you may be over pronating. in other words, the plantar surface (soles) of your feet aren't being supported properly which will cause your feet to flatten and stretch the soft tissue on the base of your foot beyond it's normal limits. this can cause tearing of the soft tissue (plantar fascia). if left uncorrected it can definitely cause heel spurs. you need to get some good orthotics and find a different method of cardio (other than runnning). this is assuming that it is either plantar fascitis or heel spurs. find a good medical doctor or chiropractor who knows and treats sports injuries. good luck easton.

i have flat feet so i use orthotics all the time. If you are experiencing pain, maybe even some store bought (not expensive custom made i mean) arches could help you out

Thanks for your help.
