sobo's death to BP meds journey

ok holding steady between 166 and 170 but weight is all over the place for a couple weeks after the last 1/2 marathon... and already today it is wacky...

So I'll just keep eating like I should to not loose... but to rebuild... but not gorge myself... and see were I am at in 2-3 weeks

I just ran the Buckeye 1/2 marathon on sat.

I RAN it... I got a cramp with 2 to go... a stich I drank too much water at the last stop... stupid me.. think I would have went another 40-50 seconds quicker if that wouldn't have happened... but oh well...

I still kicked butt for me... I ran 1:50:10 (and chip time would have been 1:49:5x)... I started with the 1:55 pace group and took off... after 4 miles... my splits were
split total distance pace/mile
0:08:37 0:08:37 1 08:37
0:08:36 0:17:13 1 08:36
0:08:26 0:25:39 1 08:26
0:08:37 0:34:16 1 08:37
0:08:10 0:42:26 1 08:10
0:07:58 0:50:24 1 07:58
0:08:01 0:58:25 1 08:01
0:08:03 1:06:28 1 08:03
0:17:29 1:23:57 2 08:45
0:08:26 1:32:23 1 08:26
0:17:47 1:50:10 2.1 08:28

I don't get it.. I thought I slowed down quite a bit more... but perhaps I didn't... I am fairly certain I can run my 15k in under 1:15 or at an 8:00 per mile pace...

Ran my first tempo run... I am gearing up for a 15k... and well I haven't done any tempo work all summer...

I ran 3 miles at a good clip and I ran 24:xx with good splits... but the last 1/2 mile I really fell off...

That was too fast for a tempo run for me... according to McMillian pace calculator... I was basically runnint 7:50's for the first 2 miles... then ran a 8:30 last mile...

I run trails tonight...

I am intersted to see what is sore... although I didn't experience any soreness that I noticed yesterday!

All that said... I know my legs were not fully there and completely recovered from the Buckeye 1/2 marathon. Nothing is sore or hurts... my legs are suprisingly loose! My hips are getting stronger... and my it bands are really feeling good since I had that deep tissue massage.

Next tues I am going to attend my first track workout... I am excited for it...

;-)

oh and my weight is fluctuating between 165-170... with huge moves in my BF % from 15.0-18.5. I think I need new batteries in the scale!

or my hydration levels have been all over the place?

Did 6 miles on trails last night.. felt really really strong... I sprinted up the 2 big hills racing another guy... I got him the first one and he just nipped me on the second one.

I feel really good... really strong...

I'm going to go on a 13 mile bike ride later today... I might double it up and turn it into 26 but that is time permitting...

I am really looking forward to the highland health run 10/27

Ran a easy 6 miles today... I might have been less... or more... but... I ran for more than an hour. There was one good size hill over a 1/4 mile long but perhaps not quite a 1/2 mile...

My hamstrings and glutes are a bit sore... the bike ride I took on friday really worked my legs... and I got off the bike and ran an easy 3/4 of a mile...

I was going to run and easy 5 tomorrow but with the track workout on tues I want to rest my legs a bit so I am recovered. I am planning a good 25-30 mile ride for tomorrow morning...

biked 21... with some good hills... went a different direction that what I had planned.... I was going to do a basically flat course... but I ended up going a different route that was fairly hilly...

also walked 3 miles on some hiking trails with my kids... and did 45 minutes of kyaking with my kids on sat...

I'm a bit sore/stiff all over today...

Good thing is that nothing hurts... I have some slight muscle soreness... but knees/ankles/achiles hips... back... nothing feels hurt...

The glutes... rest today... track workout tomorrow...

Just making a note...

Having hard slow BM's... went all weekend without one... had 3 today... but the first one was like expelling a rock... 2nd was good... 3rd was tar like yet formed... kind of disgusting but I have been having this issue for some time... and I had a dose of Monster energy drink which helped get things moving... it has been quite some time since I had a normal bm...

been taking 8 fibercon perday... and 12 metamucil tablets a day... with not much change... been drinking water too... perhaps I need to drink more water at work... my bms were a few inches long but hard... with the added fiber they are just a bit bigger but still hard...

I am also thinking of changing my breakfast from grapenuts to something more high fiber... with more volume per calorie... It might be steal cut oatmeal time... perhaps I'll cook some up tonight...

Track workout tomorrow... :)

BTW I hit 170 this morning... ??? with 3 bms today I am sure I will be 168 or lower tomorrow...

The thing is... I was pretty sure it was going to be 170 or 171...

1st track workout

we did... some warm up... I did 1/2 mile by my self... real slow... then we did a slow mile... then we did striders on the straights... jog curves... skips straights... accelerate to fast then slow back down gradualy straights... then karyoka or whatever it is called.

we then did 800's I did my first one aiming for 1:47 400 splits... I think I got it... I went just a tiny fast on the first 400 and a bit slower on the second...

we then jogged a curve... a straight... and a curve... and did another... I got my watch on this one 1:53.58 & 1:54.57... 3:48.15 total I was really gassed on that one...

Then we did one more... I think we ran the first one at 2:07 and then tried to negative split... I forget...

we then jogged 3/4 of a lap... grabbed a quick squig of water to rinse my parched mouth... then we ran a mile... my target time was 8:30... I ran 2:07,2:09, 2:05, 1:56... = 8:17 Wow... That was hard... 8:17 shouldn't feel that hard... but it did after the 3... 800's...

Then we went over to the lacross field and did some 100 striders... backward running... striders again...

Man that 3rd 800 was rough... the mile was ok because my body knows how to run 8:00 to 8:30...

7 minute... 7:30 ? freaked my body out...

I'll see how I am tomorrow...

Morning weight 165.8

sore on the right side more than on the left.

up in my hips... glutes...

but honestly I feel really good today...
Had what I would term a good bm... soft... easy to pass..

My current running log doesn't have a way to enter a track workout... so I am looking at other on line running logs...

Thanks chillen!

Running rest of last week

wed: 4 miles easy... 10/mile pace
Thurs: 8 miles easy... 3-4 @ 10+ pace... 3-4 at 9:30 or less pace...
Friday: rest
Sat: 3.2 in 29:xx
Sunday: 9.3 in 1:28:xx so sub 10 minute per mile... I ran the 1st mile at 10:20 or so... the second right on a 10 minute mile and well must have picked it up from mile 5 on...

Monday rest...

tonight I am going to a track workout... I really should have flip floped my sat & sun workout... so I wasn't doing speed so close to my long run...

everything feels pretty good... need to warm up well tonight and I should be find...

I was 167 and change last night with 15% bf so I figured I would hit 164 this morning... but I was 165.8 at 16% BF... which is my lowest morning BF I can remember... I had been teatering on 16.5 & 17.0 for some time...

here is my speed workout from tues...

Code:
                What I did
-----------------------------------------
leg Time per 200 per mile
-----------------------------------------
200 00:47.00 47.00 6:16
400 01:35.51 47.75 6:22
600 02:19.57 46.52 6:12
800 03:24.07 51.02 6:48
600 02:35.26 51.75 6:54
400 01:40.12 50.06 6:40
200 00:43.41 43.41 5:47

McMillian is suggesting 6:59 to 7:40 mile...

Perhaps I should slow down a bit in my speed workout?

Ran 4 nice and easy on wed..

will do 4-8 tonight depending on how I feel... I am leaning towards... 6... I'll do 2 really easy before my running partners show up... then they are looking to do 4-5... instead of the normal 6...
so that would give me 6 total...

I hope my legs are recovered for sat... where I want to do an easy 12.

I've lost 100 lbs!

164.4 16% BF this morning. That marks 100 lbs of weight loss. All I can say is WOW.

I ended up running 6 miles last night. I feel pretty good today. Looking forward to tomorrows run. I will do my best to rest today.

Feeling really strong... but my left calf is a bit strained... it hurts... and hasn't quite fully recovered... I really did it in on tues... at the track workout... however... I ran 7:30 pace for my 800's ... it was the 200's at the end where I over did it...

took off yesterday and today I will walk 3 miles... perhaps a nice walk tomorrow... and then I'll give 3 a try on saturday... and if there is no pain... I'll try 5 on sunday... perhaps easy short runs on monday and or tues... but then wed, thur, fri out of town... that might be a good time to rest...

?

then gear back up... for the 29th

165.0 this morning...

Ran 1:10:00 15k really pumped about that...

Been feeling really down since the run though??? no energy... a bit depressed... checked my bp and it was 107/69 with a pulse of 58...
The first time I checked it it was 111/76 with a pulse of 66??? strange...

something funky is going on... ??? Oh well the bp is good... I am just dragging...
