sobo's death to BP meds journey

A bit sore from the 6 miles yesterday... but the heel pain is just minor... and my knee feels better... both were pretty sore last night... it's like there is a ligament that is just tight or something...

182.6 morning weight... Feel really good today... would love to go run but I know my legs need the rest... Sunday 5 mileer... puts me at 17 miles for the week... which is good... I'll go for 18 or 19 next week...

urg... I want to pound back like a six pack tonight... BUT I'll be good... had a sausage sandwich for lunch today... one braut... some kraut... & a couple spoons of baked beens... not the best lunch... but portion control was good...

even if that was 1000 cals... that puts me at 1400 so far... 1000 cal dinner and that is 2400 and I am still 300 deficit.. so all is well...

The key is to eat well tomorrow... plan... eggs for b... tuna for lunch... or cottage cheese... Sunday... get up early... eat small before the race...

I should be 181 monday morning... I need to skip wing day this upcoming week or just go and only get 6 wings...

Ran 6.8 yesterday. Felt good... I bit of tighness in the left knee that I felt on thurs... But nothing too bad... the second loop my legs felt alot better...

Then I went home and ate... then cut the grass... that night I had irritability in my legs... and I slept pretty restless... but I woke up feeling good... needed more sleep but I feel good.

I ran the 6.8 in just over 1 hour... I took that last .25 pretty fast... full stride... and when I finished I was winded but I could have started my finishing dash earlier... pretty cool... I think I can go full stride pretty close to a half mile now... Perhaps I'll test that theory sometime soon...

All in all I am feeling a whole lot better about the 15k coming up next month...

Ran 4 miles... nice and easy... we did it in just under 40 minutes... I felt really good... nothing hurt... legs feel good... My knee didn't bother me once it got warmed up... I am really pumped at how "in-shape" I am feeling. I could just drop into the 170's I would feel like I have really accomplished something!

I need to drop some more $$$ and get myself some winter gear... I also am regreting playing darts... I love to play but I really would have rather ran the oct-nov trail running series... a series of races 5 or 6 on tues nights that are from 3-6 miles long (you don't find out how long until just before the race)... Oh that would have been fun... but I just can not see my kids 2 days in a row... I have to talk with my wife... maybe we can make arangements to make sure I eat dinner with the kids on mondays... also... Maybe I'll just work it out with my team-mates that I will not play the 1st 2 games at darts... so I can be a few minutes late...

lunch... gym...

Pullups... no energy today... I couldn't do 3 unassisted... ? I know I am just tired...

Did pullups...dips... with 50 lbs assist. The dips were alot easier this time...

Did bench press 10x3@115 --- felt really easy... but I had no spotter... only struggled with last rep in last set... ----
Low Row machine... 3x10@90 -- I should have done 105 --

hanging knee raises... 3x10 -- I actually did these pretty well this time... and I added in my own twist.. on the last set... instead of taking my legs back down straight... I took them back down to a 30 degree angle... straight... then straight down... then straight leg back to about 30-45 degrees then pulled my knees up... I figure if I do this a few time I will be ready to try regular leg raises...

incline bench machine 2x10@75 very slow... like 1 second up... and 10 down...

and I ran out of time... so I showered and headed back to work...

I knew I wasn't going to have a good workout today... feeling so tired... But a bad workout is better than no workout...

I will run 4 miles tomorrow... take thurs off... try to get up early on friday and run... lol... I crack myself up... anyways... I really am going to try to get up early on friday... I want to run in the morning and hit the weights at lunch...

Amen to that bruddah, and good on you for listening to your body and not hurting yourself. Glad to see you sticking with it, looking good.

thanks MilitantGeek...

182.0 morning weight... tiny bit of doms... I didn't think I worked my chest that much but maybee those slow reps I did caused it...

Wife and I were discussing how the scale is saying the same thing... but I moved another belt loop... ??? we both figure it is the ab work pulling my stomach in... she proposed that I may have added muscle and lost some fat... although I'm not sure about that...

Quads not sore today... I did some uphill backwards joging on my long run to try to work out a cramp in my knee... it worked but the next day my quads were sore... today I don't feel it anymore...

4 miles at lunch... :)... alergies really kicking in with the leaves coming down... my lungs feel like I smoked a pack of cigarettes last night... felt fine yesterday... today all tight... I should have taken a claritin this morning...

Going for 9:30-9:45 pace... I feel like doing some fast running but I want to get in an 8 mile run sat and if I just pace my way through at 9:30 I'll be able to run the 8 miles... if I push it my legs might be sore for sat...

still need to find a place to run the 8... and need to find a drop point for some water...

-------------------------------------------
here is what I actually ran
0.5) 4:12 4:12
1.0) 8:55 4:42
1.5) 13:40 4:45
2.0) 18:17 4:36
2.5) 22:49 4:31
3.0) 28:00 5:11
3.5) 32:32 4:22
4.0) 36:28 4:05

8:55, 9:22, 9:43, 8:28 probably should have coasted the last 1/2

180.6 morning weight... today is a rest day... and a day of eating... I consumed less than 2000 calories yesterday... I ate well just not enough... today I am going out to lunch and probably will eat 800-1000 cals putting me at 1400-1600 then 800 for dinner and I'll be right around maint... hoping for a solid 181 morning weight tomorrow... easy 2 mile run in the morning...

Sat... want to do 6-8 miles... hoping sunday to have 180 morning weight... ... want to crack 180 mid next week...

:) scale said 18.5% BF last nite... of course... 20% this morning... can't wait for the morning to start saying 19%

182.2... Had a crape with cheese and meat a lunch and it is a giant mass moving through me... Also had some rice with dinner... extra 1/2 lbs of food/water running through me now... the course for my 15k is now online... I am going to check it... and peraps find a way to run part of it for my sat run... or maybe I'll do the whole thing but walk the first .75 and last .5

I found the cool tool

The thing that bugs me though about it is that you can't save the map and then print it with the mile markers on it... ??? or at least I haven't figured it out yet...

My plan is to do a good upper body workout today... I am going to do 4 pullups without assist! I am going to do Bench before I do dips as well...

This is the 15K I'll be running.... I'll give the course a go tomorrow morning... I'll walk the first 1/2 mile... and probably the last 1/2... so I'll go 8... total... 1.2 miles farther than my longest run... I think the key here is for me to get accustom to the long 3 mile straight run... no curves... it is the back stretch on this big oval...

I'll drive the route in the morning first and chalk my mile markers and drop some water at around mile 5... the overpass of the highway should give me a good place to stash some water... Hopefully it will be dry...

:)

Ok I did it... yesterday... it was super cold and raining and my chalk marks for mile markers got washed away... My legs felt ok... I didn't experience much discomfort in terms of pain... a little in my right ankle from pronation... a bit in my knees when I was starting (first 2 miles)... I also kicked myself... well more like brushed but it hurts... My left heal strikes my right ankle every once in a while and it scraped off the skin and made me bleed... my sock was all bloody... I did it a total of 5 times on the run and the last time it caused my to more than just wince... I yelped... lol...

below are the splits I took or tried to... my mile marks were all messed up...

10:06 Walked part of this mile and figure I only went about .75
10:21 felt like a slug & stopped to retie shoe
8:49 mostly a slight downhill legs felt very light
13:23 What goes down must go up... + I missed my mile marker
probably went 1.2
7:52 probably for .8
12:17 ? not sure whre my marker was just looked down and figured I should
have passed it... so I clicked my watch
6:07 No way I went that fast... but I figured last 2 miles ave... 9:10 pace
was about the speed I was running... nice flat section and my legs
were turning over on their own...
11:46 probably about correct... hit my watch about 50 yards past where I should have...
9:29 marked this one short... I was probably only at .8 of a mile...

9 miles in 1:30 is a 10 minute mile pace... I figure I was running just barely slower than that but in actuality probably ran 8.5-8.6 miles...

Ran 2 on monday... my legs were a bit sluggish...

I ran 3 today in 28:00 (9:20)... and felt good... that was a nice tempo run... I had to go all out the last 400 to get to 28... I wanted to go just a bit faster throughout the run but I was really pushing the guy I was running with... I also doubled backed at the top of 1 hill to let him catch up... BUT hey they guy has run 10 marathons this year and his legs are a bit tired... and his hammy is giving him some trouble... and he is 50...

182.6 morning weight... can we say platue? I need to have a whole week of clean eating and I would break through 180... I want to hit 178 on nov 10... new doc appt.

180.6 morning weight.... I didn't eat enough yesterday... I forgot to eat lunch...

Really I just forgot about it... until it was like 4:00 I wasn't hungry when I got back from my run... I just wanted to drink a big glass of water and finish something I was working on... then I would eat (aiming for 1:30 lunch)... but all of the sudden I notice a little hunger pang... and it was 4:00... I should have grabbed a snack but I just waited and ate dinner at 5:30...

bfast... 3/4 cup grapenuts... 1 cup OJ...

I ate 2 cups of cottage cheese and 1.5 cups of hot salsa...
dessert... handfull of frozen blueberries...

I could look it up but that is under 1500 cals... I want to run 4 today... take friday off... and run 9 sat...

What a nice day! I felt good when I started my run... I ended up running just a bit too fast.. I new I was going too fast but I was enjoying it...

Here are my 1/2 mile splits:

0.5) 3:54 3:54 slight downhill
1.0) 8:06 4:11
1.5) 12:19 4:13 (downhill)
2.0) 16:35 4:16
2.5) 20:57 4:22
3.0) 26:09 5:11 (uphill)
3.5) 30:52 4:43
4.0) 35:00 4:07 slightly uphill

The cool thing is that I ran 8:06, 8:29, 9:54, 8:51... and I could have went faster... I could have taken the last 400 faster... and the downhill 1/2 mile I was just coasting... if that was a race I would have been 3:30-3:40 that half easily... I was in a good running stride from the 1.5 mile mark to the beginning of the uphill... the uphill I tried to stay smooth and not push... I was a bit tired when I reach the top... and really coasted past the 1/2 mile to go... then I picked it up a bit for the last .4... but never really fast... no finishing dash...

I think I could run a 7:00 mile... I am going to try to get on a track to time myself sometime...

Oh and I left the gym at 178.8... rehydrating and eating now...

180.0 morning weight... got on the scale a couple times because I wanted to see 179.8 but no such luck... Today I am not going on the weekly lunch at a brewery... I'll eat my cottage cheese... workout after work... Ballroom dance class with the wife... then dinner... If I am good at dinner I should be 180.4 tomorrow... then 9 mile run... eat well... lay off the booze... and 179 sunday!

If I hit monday of next week without bouncing my weight back up I'll update my signature... (ABOUT TIME)!!!!

hit the weights for 30 minutes...

bench press, pullups, dips,
shoulder fly (machine)
Hanging knee raises
Hanging leg lifts

wanted to do low rows... but all the machines were taken... and I ran out of time... Maybee I'll hit them in a second session after work...

Left gym at 179

Ate cottage cheese & salsa... need more water... hoping my quad feels better tomorrow and I can run...

182.6 morning weight

Ran 9.3 miles

1) 8:39 8:39
2) 17:28 8:49
3) 26:11 8:43
4) 36:28 10:16 (uphill)
5) 46:13 9:44
6) 55:53 9:40
7) 1:00:04 8:06 ***
8) 1:13:42 9:42 (left glut cramping)
9) 1:23:06 9:23
FINISH 1:26:16 3:10 (I really died the last .3 after the uphill at the end of mile 9)

The first 3 miles felt very smooth I ran about the same for all of them in terms of effort. I was really cooking for mile 7 so I believe that 8:06... it was a slight down hill and I was moving! mile 8 had an uphill section that my legs started failing me...

The good thing is that I had much less pain running this time. I also had a good pace early. I might consider walking that steep uphill in mile 4... so that I can pick back up with 8:40's

***got run off the road by a soccer mom in an SUV and got an adrelinie rush... I literally had to jump into a 3 foot ditch scramble up a rock mound back up to the road... I was getting a second wind before that... after it I was really cooking.

186 morning weight? WTF... Haven't had a good BM since thurs... BUT 6 lbs? Oh well... just the scale... we will see when I cycle back down...

I didn't eat that much yesterday. I splurged a bit and had some M&M's with my baby... and I ate a big dinner yesterday... ok so maybe 186 makes sense... I'm carrying a big ball of water soaked pasta/rice & bread... in my gut... top that off with super salty chilly sauce and I'm probably retaining some water...

My legs have recoverd well from the 9.3... I think... my left glut was a bit sore as was my left groin... both gave me trouble in miles 7-9... and I felt a slight pull yesterday while hiking with my daughter... but ankles felt good... and my knee felt good which is what I was really worried about... I'll bet the glut thing was because I was kicking at a sub 8:00 pace in the last 1/3 of my 9 mile run... :)mad: SUV driving soccer moms!)

I am having trouble planning out my week... I am thinking 3 easy today. 4 tempo wed... 4 easy thur... 10 sat.

repeat...

Then 4 easy (mon)... 4 easy(wed)... 2 miles at race pace thur... rest fri-sat... then race... I think I will pose this a question in the running section...

Ran 17 minutes out... and 15 back... figure it was about 3 mile... but it was not even close to flat... The hills were tough... I think I need the hill work to get ready for the 15k... I also just need miles... so perhaps I'll ocillate hills and flat... and keep running easy... I feel like my legs were in slow motion today.. but they did last week my first run after the long one... I'll bet my legs are back tomorrow...

oh... monday was a messed up day at work... I never did get a run in...

Ran 10 on sat... felt pretty good... legs went to spaghetti the last 1.5... but I felt really good in miles 5-8...

Need to pick up the millage this week... I should run today... but I didn't bring my running shoes I was planning on lifting... Maybe I'll run when I get home...
