Hmmmm yeah so the thing is, in the past 6 monthes or so I've lost about 55 pounds....and may or may not be anorexic, and might have thinner hair(which maybe a good sign I've lost too much hair)......so yeah I'm no longer restricting my diet, upping from 1500 calories a day, to atleast 2,000.....but I'm not even sure that enough. I'm concerned about my hair frankly......so yeah I'm 5'11'' and about 175ib 20 male. How many calories should I be eating a day? Alot of sites say, if I'm moderately active, I should have about 3,000 calories. but I'm not sure.

My first question is....is your dad bald/balding? Your hair loss might be genetic and not related to your weight loss.

1500 calories a day is a number that would cause weight-loss , are you wanting to continue losing weight or are you happy where you are? If you want to maintain your weight (and those sites you visited were correct) then you need to eat between 2800-3000 calories a day to stay at 175.

Maybe you should see a doctor if you're this concerned.

Someone who is anorexic will not eat and even when they are 100 pounds they still think they are fat. You do not sound anorexic to me (but then again I'm not a doctor).

:)

I'm not an expert but from my research men should never go below 1800 calories. It's our redline. The only time it would be safe is with doctors supervision.

Like Katie, I don't think you are anorexic... you just aren't eating enough. If your confused about what you're reading on the internet, my best suggestion would be to visit a doctor and a dietician

depending on what your diet consists of could be the reason why you are losing your hair... a few years ago I went on a very low fat diet - lost a bunch of weight but my hair fell out in clumps... the hair loss stopped when i added fat back into m y diet but my hair has not been the same since...

I'd check with your doctor if i were you
