Hey i was just wondering about my benching i am 17 years old 150 pounds and right now i am maxing 235 i wanted to see what everyone else is maxing at thnx

I dont ever max out but when i did years ago i was in the lower/mid 300's.

Jeez, the last time I went for my one rep max was around twenty years ago (trying to impress friends lol! I'm over it now) at 260 on barbell. I use 3x6x240 for flat dumbell press on my bowflex now.

In Russia, the bar benches you!

Like Mreik, I see no point to these threads. Its like comparing heights...who cares? Your bench press doesn't matter to me, only MY benchpress matters to me (well, unless I'm spotting you, then I sorta care about yours ;)

right.. noone cares.. its a number.

I can press the whole world with just one arm. Thats about 12,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 lbs.
Beat that.

Only reason I posted mine is because ever since I started doing a "full-body" workout, my strength has gone up substancially...and I'm pretty proud of that right now.

We all know that your numbers don't mean much. Some people are naturally lean and strong while others might be bulky and relatively weak (like me).

I couldnt give a toss what any of you can bench. To me its all about how your pecs look!
I rather have a big, ripped chest and bench 100 pounds lighter than somone with a **** chest.
When I was at my best I was benching about 65KG 4 sets of 8!

If you are only 16 years old you should not be doing 1RM anyways!

A good set of goals should be:
Bench Press 12 reps with body weight
Bent Row 12 reps with body weight
Squat 12 reps with 1.5 times body weight
Deadlift 12 reps with 1.5 times body weight
Pullup 12 reps with body weight
Handstand Pushup 12 reps with body weight

If you can only do Bench Press then it does not matter how much you can do, you are in poor shape...

For real, lets post some real numbers and maybe some of you can answer a question I have

My one Rep max is 315.
My two rep max is 285
and my 4 rep max is 225.

Why is there such a gap between my 2 and 4? Its like I fatigue very easily when lifting heavy. I should be more like a 4 rep max at 255 right? Any ways to combat the fatigueness?

some people are more fast twitch and do better on low reps than high reps. A calculator is just the standards, everyone is different. how to fight it, i suppose you could start doing more high rep activity, unless you already are.

First you have to find out whether you want to be a body builder or a weight lifter. It's all well and good that you can bench 300 plus but if you have a gut, no judge is going to care (or female for that matter). I used to be worried about my max bench, squat and deadlift but now I focus on form and getting the most out of my exercise. I'm pretty new to these boards so I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes but I've been doing this a long time and I remember at 16 it was all about the power lifting for football. For muscularfatman, it seems like you're focusing in on lifting big weight one or two times. That's fine, if you want to be a weight lifter and would probably explain the gap between the 2 and 4 reps cycles. Your muscles fatigue after so many reps and aren't used to sustaining the weight. To answer lellon, I'd wonder what coach has you guys maxing out at 16 and why you're not worried about upping your pushups to 100 or so at a time. Trust me, the pushups will pay off during 2-a-days more so than the 300 pound bench press.

Well, that would make sense, except I my usual Chest workout does involve high reps with not a great deal of weight. I think i can just muster up the strength for one or two big lifts, maybe just determination...who knows. And yes, I was all about the bench and stuff a couple years ago in highschool, now its down to toning...just like you said.
