So, What do you eat???

Well, here is todays menu - what do you think:
1 - 2 packs of low sugar maple oatmeal and 2% milk

2 - snack - golden delicious apple and water

3 - chicken and cheese quesadillas (2 wheat tortillas, 2 boneless skinless chicken breast strips, mexican mix shredded cheese), light ranch dressing for dipping. George formanized hamburger patty (if I am still hungry) - Diet Dr. Pepper - desert 1 Little Debbie reduced fat maple cream pie

4 - snack - 1 cup CHEX MIX sweet and salty (reduced fat) and water

5 - white rice mixed with sweet peas, carrot slices and canned chunk chicken - sweet tea

6 - golden delicious apple before bed and water

I am also drinking rasberry flavored Aquafina water sweetened with sucralose (splenda brand)

So - what do ya'll think? I figured the one little debbie would cure my sweet tooth as well as the CHEX mix

Instant oatmeal = bad. Even though it's "low-sugar," it still has too much added ingredients. You are MUCH better off eating regular oatmeal adn sweetening it up with fresh fruit instead.

One apple is not a meal.

Chex Mix is not so good, either. Over-processed, full of unclean ingredients that will not help anyone's diet.

Replace the white rice with brown rice. Since when do they can chicken???

What cures my sweet tooth is 1/2 cup fresh raspberries and some sliced strawberries. YOu should try that instead of that disgusting little debbie thing

Thanks - but I have got to start somewhere. This is much better than my usual diet.

I will take all into consideration

KMAPRO, you're doing fine, big improvement. just take it at your own pace, as you're doing. keep working towards your goal and dont sweat it if you have a little debbie once in awhile, LOL!

Thanks Shimmering - I am doing what i think is right. I have a major sweet tooth, but that is not my downfall. My downfall is late night snacking. I have started eating an apple as opposed to eating brownies or cereal though...I don't see any improvements yet - but then again after only a week I don't really expect to.

I will say that I am feeling better now though. I don't feel as tired or run down all the time - so I am seeing improvements in that area.

I do have a question though - should I still eat the 6 times a day even if I am not hungry? I tried it yesterday and I felt full as all get out. Not to the point of feeling miserable, I just felt full.

i dont do 6 meals a day as some others are doing. my wife and i are currently eating 3 "meals" a day, which is usually cereal for lunch and breakfast, and a regular (though nutritious) dinner. with fruit snacks in between. we're eventually going to switch to a light breakfast and a light lunch, and regular dinner. i personally couldnt imagine trying to do 6 meals a day - way too complicated and time consuming. for me a diet (eating style) has to be fairly convenient and do-able. after all, it's a life change i want to keep up long term. this is not to say i dont agree with the 6 meal diet, i just think you can do well by eating 3.
& i think you're doing fine so far, as i said keep your goals in mind and keep at it. it's not easy to go from eating whatever you want to a more restricted diet. beating yourself up because you had a brownie or something wont do you any good. my advice would be to eventually ditch the late night snacks, though - this was tough for us too, but we've gotten used to it. also, i think your eating an apple instead of a treat is a good idea. eventually you may find your desire for sweets will subside or be knocked back considerably over time. i personally think a bad sweet tooth is essentially your body just being used to getting a lot of sugar, like a lot of salt for instance. i should also add that we run 2 to 3 times a week (1-2 miles) and also do some pushups, crunches etc. biking is good, too.
you may not have seen a change in your body yet but trust me, you will within the next few weeks. you're just starting. so anyway, dont be discouraged if you're not eating a completely "clean" diet, just keep improving & working towards your desired end result. :)

Well, I, of course have no idea what your diet *used* to be. YOu have a good start.

When I first began eating 6 meals a day, I also found myself to be super-full. But after tinkering with what exactly I should be eating at what exact time, I am perfectly comfortable - neither hungry nor too full. I guess it's something you have to get used to. ANd be sure to drink a lot of water, as that will help the the bloated feelings.
