Smiling's Diary Well another start to a beautiful day...I am just sitting here eating my breakfast before work. (which i never did before)
1 boiled egg - 70
1 slice of rye bread - 52
1 cup of skim milk - 137
coffee - 20

I read that eating breakfast in the morning helps speed up you metabolism. Anyone know if that is true?

This is day three for me....I have not been standing on the scale so I do not know if i have shed another pound...I dont want to stand on it every single day. How do you guys handle your scales...daily..weekly?

I also heard breakfast was better for you than nothing at all.
Most of us TRY not to weigh ourselves everyday, but sometimes it just calls my name and I give in to its pressure! LOL
We aim for weighing in once a week, but whatever floats your boat.

Stuck in a Funk

My day started out good, but eventually faded into depression.
I received an email from my ex, my wounds are still very fresh as it has only been 1 week since the split. My plan was to come home from work and go for a walk but instead I climbed into bed, cried and fell asleep. Woke up at 7.45pm and have been moping around....sooo I decided to step on the scale... and I have lost 3lbs from 318 -> 315!...I am very happy about that!..but still feeling stuck in a funk. :(
I hope tomorrow will be better....

Hey girl! I'm sorry your stuck in a funk about an ex. Been there! How long were you together? I think you need to eat a bit more, you don't seem to be eating enough. Just make healthy choices. Where do you live? Keep looking for the positive changes and they will come!
 
Well today is a new day...though its pouring out...I'm feeling a little better than yesterday. TurtleMomma, thanks for the tip about not eating enough, its hard to find the right balance. My ex and I were together for 2.8 years and I am having some trouble adjusting to the change :( . I live in British Columbia in a city called Chilliwack. There are lots of places to hike but I think I need to get into better shape before I start climbing mountains. I was thinking once I reach the 300 mark maybe I could start something small. How is your weightloss going?

Thanks for posting in my diary. I'll be sure to keep an eye on yours now. :) You seem to be making good choices...just might want to increase the calories a bit. We don't want that metabolism slowing down. Sorry about the ex...take everything a day at a time.
 
Positive Thoughts

Thanks for the advise coaster...i'm trying to add a few more cals in for my happy happy little metabolism.
Today not another great day, but I am trying to remain positive.
At work they have a fitness room, I was considering trying it out, maybe not just yet. Another email from the ex, he wants to get together Saturday night. Im not really sure how that is going to turn out.
George came today and I have decided not to stand on the scale until its gone
Other then that same old, thank goodness tomorrow is Friday for me.

You are doing awesome with your portion control and with making conscious decisions about what you eat... way to go!!!

I agree that you need to make sure you have enough calories...In fact, our bodies can go into "starvation mode" where they actually store more fat if they are not getting a sufficient amount of calories.

A website that I found has been really helpful for me in figuring this out is - they have a link where you can enter in all of the activities you do in a given day, like sleeping, eating, walking, watching t.v., eating, and figure out how many calories you need (or use) doing those activities. Then, depending on how much weight you would like to lose, you can subtract that number of calories (I can't remember the amount for each pound/week, but I think it is around 500 per day? - you'll have to look at it) and make sure you get the number of calories you have left.

to kind of summarize with numbers, for the daily activities I do, I expend around 2,400 calories each day. To lose two pounds a week, I need to not eat 1000 calories less than that each day... so I aim for around 1400 calories each day. I have heard that it is not safe to consume less than 1200, so you don't want to go below that number and try to lose many more pounds a week.

If your daily expenditure down below is a good number, you could aim for 1400-1500 cals a day and that should be about 3 pounds of calories less a week =)

Today was not a very big food day. I know I should have eaten more....but I just had zero appetite. My ex said he wanted to see me tonight...big surprise I have not heard from him, so i'm sitting here like a silly fool thinking he is going to show up....I dont know who I am kidding here...I guess just myself.

Ahhhhh I am sorry he is such a twit. You need to cut him loose girl! Easier said than done I know!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep trying and each day will become easier.

The last few days have been extremely hard, it looks like the ex and I are finished completely. He never did show Sat, he finally showed Sunday, but it was a pretty pointless visit....then I find out he has an adult content rating on his msn profile (hmmmm)...well that pretty much sealed the deal for me....I dont want any part of that! So today after work instead of coming home and bawling all night, I did what I do best....shop...I bought this really sweet 19" LCD monitor which I am looking at right now.....grinssss.

Hey there..I was taking a look at your diary and we weigh about the same!......
You do know since we are bigger we aquire more calories then the smaller people?..
Do you have Curves for women there?....How about weight watchers?...If you like take a peek into my diary.....Im here to help....as for boyfriend...what is exactly the problem...does he want to commit one day and then wants to be single the next?

Thanks for your entry KC, Im not sure if they have a curves or a weight watchers where I live....doing those things never really appealed to me..though I have never tried any of them....maybe I should consider a different approach. Have you attended any of those clubs and do they work for you? I think I would like to take a peek at your diary, thanks :)
As far as bf goes it really doesnt matter what he wants anymore (i cant believe i am saying that) its all about me now. You know I was all worried that I was going to be alone but hey maybe its time I did have some alone time and start thinking about myself and doing what is best for me.
Amomono thanks for the compliment on my food choices. I still like to eat and dont want to stop...lol...so veggies are definitely helping me with that :p
