Why I stay up late to watch tv at night instead of sleeping.
Convinced my mother sits in tv room all day long just in case I want to happen to pop by so can trap me in conversation. Does not actually watch tv. Puts on the tv guide channel watches it scroll by while reading magazines on clothes and home and garden type stuff, does bills in there even sometimes.
Just spent two hours watching tv with her, you'd think this would satisfy the "spend time with your mother today" requirement, but no. After showing her how to use the very cool FIOS On Demand, introducing her to Project Runway, she kept going on and on, well if theres something you want to watch, we can do that; you can change it if you want; do you want to come watch this movie?
Uhm, no. I watch to watch Gossip Girl by myself and watch the sexual tension between Chuck and Blair thank you very much. Naturally I will never tell you so. Because one of two things would happen - you would insist on watching it too, and refuse to go to bed even though you've been staying up later "with me" since I moved home (in June). Or, you would go around telling your friends and mine that I watch it (yes i like it but its one of those secret things you just dont tell people, i mean, a bit pathetic, yes? shouldnt i have a social life* of my own? a boyfriend? close friends?* nights out on the town in pretty dresses? trips to NYC? PLANS for the future.) And or you would keep making faces at me as you go by, as if to say "I know you're in there watching that" ugh. Parents. Just. Don't. Understand. said the Fresh Prince, aint that the truth. God, i mean you're my mom. Isnt it bad enough that I watched many episodes of Sex and the City with you (40 is old to me, but) this is my age group, my generation, my little corner of sex meets tv in the world. Go away.
So that's my pet peeve of the day.
Back tomorrow with plenty more.
Bye loves!

*left these back in Colorado where I went to college, seems hard to make real connections with friends and whatnot after that. have friends, but they are more acquaintances to me than super close friends. moving around so often hasnt helped.
On the flip side, met a boy at a pizza shop of all places today. Heres how the convo went:
Him - "All set?" (to pay)
Me -"Yes, hey didn't you go to my high school? You look familiar to me."
Him -"Which one?"
Me-"HS Name here"
Him-"Yes, which class are you?"
Me -"2000"
Him-"Oh yeah I was 2002, just behind you, yeah I remember you, not great with names but with faces" (or something slightly more charming than this with a big smile but I cant remember verbatim)
Then a teenage girl with toned skinny legs came in and started talking to him and I left. Yeah, I want to be that girl, but still, was nice to meet someone from the past and get a smile from someone my age, what with all the old fogies who live in this small town of ours.
Pleasant, meant nothing, but made me smile.
