I've finally had it and decided to loose this weight. I've been fat since the start of 4th grade and I want to feel good about myself again! I have never been able to walk into a store and buy a pair of pants that are less than a size 7, and as a teenager I want to know what its like to go into any store and be able to buy something cute, not stuck going to a handful of stores that carry my size.

My goal is to loose the extra 45 pounds with cardio (running) and from there working on some toning. My starting weight is 170 and this is the heaviest I've ever been. My goal is 125-130 pounds.

Hey! I am in a similar situation as you. I'm 18 and 165lbs. I fit in a size 9 jean, its the tops i have trouble finding. i too would love to just walk into a store and know i will fit in what i want. we also have similar target weights :)

Shirts are almost impossible for me to find. For example, I went in Goodys once and bought a shirt I really liked in a 1x that fit. It was not form fitting or tight at all. It got old and looked it, and was beginning to get tight in the chest so I went back to get another. They had the same shirts so I grabbed one in a 2x to try on. I put it on and it was skin tight. I thought "there is no way I gained THAT much weight, the one I have isn't like this!" and sure enough they had changed the fabric it was made with. If you are wearing a size 2x, you don't want something form fitting. I guess the company doesn't understand that.

i know what you mean! i dont think they get it. i always have a hard time finding stuff because of my chest size. i guess its a blessing and a curse at the same time haha but i never get cut tops and im sure people must think i have no fashion sense when in reality its just that the cute stuff doesnt look right on me.

I'm a 36 D and I can't wear any tops that are low cut or tight at all because it just looks tacky. I don't want to see other people's boobs, I'm sure they don't want to see mine.

I just got done doing my cardio for today and man am I feeling it! I didn't run as much as usual and really had to push to get to 1.50 miles in 31 minutes. One of the reasons is I stepped in a hole out in the yard yesterday and came down hard! I rattled my whole body and its telling me off for it! LOL.

I just can't wait until I can see results on the scale!

Couldn't work out today either. My lower back is killing me, my neck and shoulders are stiff and tight, and my calves are in contant knots. I fell on Sunday afternoon and I'm still having problems. I feel very weak and painful. I don't even have enough energy to even THINK about exercise.

I hope u start feeling up to exercising soon!! is there anything you can do exercise wise that wont hurt whatever is sore?

Thanks you guys. My legs are feeling better, but my back is still acting up. To top that off I went to the Dr. today and I have a sinus infection! UGH!

I did eat something new today though! Cooked cabbage! It was pretty good. A little bland, but good. Any suggestions on how to enhance the flavor?

I think I'll definatly be able to exercise by this weekend. I'm just trying to take it easy because the day after I fell I did make my self exercise. I wasn't feeling that bad and thought maybe I would feel better after. I think I actually made myself worse.

Well, not only have I not gotten much exercise this weeks, today I ate more than I should have.

Breakfast: None.

Lunch: 1 fried chicken leg, 1 thigh. 1 serving of green beans, 1/2 serving of mashed potatoes, 1 serving of cooked cabbage. 1 serving of cherry cobbler for dessert. (One of the bad things about living in KY, comfort food is EVERYWHERE!)

Snack: A real-fruit strawberry slush from Sonic.

Dinner: 1 serving of shake-n-baked pork steak with 1 serving of garlic potatoes and 1 serving of cooked cabbage.

Snack at 8: 1 large kiwi, 1/2 of a banana, 1 small box of rasins, 1 8 oz. glass of V8 Fusion Juice (Acia Berry.)

I had to get all my meals on the go until Dinner and the snack, so I did what I could, and gave in to my sweet tooth. I don't tend to eat alot of sweets, like the cobbler, or fried foods, like the chicken, at all and I don't think once will hurt me too bad. I'll just have to get back to exercising and stuff again.

I've been busy this weekend! On Saturday I went to a few antique stores and a big super flea market. I got a very pretty necklace, some hard back books, and some figurines.

Today I went to the outlet mall with my mom. They sell cloths that all have very minor flaws and are labeled irregular by the manufacturer. You can't even tell there is anything wrong with them and they are very cheap. You can get good brand name jeans (lee, wranglers, levis, etc) for 5-10 dollars. There are some pairs that cost 20, but that's the highest. I tried on the 14's that I normally wear and they were very tight in the waist. That was depressing. So I bought myself a really good sports bra and kicked myself for being a slacker.

I went to check out sparkpeople.com and since I'm only 16 I signed up with spark teens. I think this will really help me keep track of everything I'm doing, foodwise and exercise.

My goal is to loose the extra 45 pounds with cardio (running) and from there working on some toning. My starting weight is 170 and this is the heaviest I've ever been. My goal is 125-130 pounds.

Let me warn you...I became a runner a year ago and have not lost much weight. I know I have traded fat for muscle tone but overall I did not have drastic weight loss from only running...and keep in mind I run 3x a week and have done 1 full marathon (26.2miles), 4 half marathons (13.1 miles), and 2 10K (6.2 miles). My problem was that as my distances increased I needed the energy to sustain my running...and because I was heavier it took more energy to carry my butt to the finish line.

I'm just now easing up on the running and turning my attention to really watching what I eat. Now if you start running and don't eat any more than you do right now, of course you will loose weight. But try to find a healthy balance of giving your body what it needs and also losing weight. I can honestly say though my body looks so much better due to the running...I'm just disappointed the scale didn't show drastic weight loss. LOL

I would have loved to have lost a ton of weight running but it just didn't happen for me. It's not to say that it can't be done. Just get comfortable with feeling "uncomfortable" being a little low on energy. Because endurance running and dieting don't go hand in hand. It will be a challenge, but you can do it!! Good luck to you!

I'm on a rest break from running right now so my IT Band can heal but in about 2 weeks I"m going to start back up. I just started a low carb diet and I know I am going to struggle with stamina when I run...but I'm going to push through. I'll let you know how that combo works for me :)

I'll check in on you as well to see how you are balancing it.

I've been using sparkteens to really track my eating habits and see how it stacks up. It's consistant almost everyday with no real fluxuations. Granted, I've only used it a couple of days, but in those days I at as I always do. For instance, today:

1,592 calories.
100 grams of protein
227 carbs
33 grams of fat.

For exercise I walked 1 and 1/2 miles at 3.2 miles per hour for 30 minutes and burned 210 calories.

Today was a perfect example of how I normall eat, nothing special or given up at all. So why am I 173 pounds? Most of the people in my family have an underactive thyroid and I know the chances are that is what is partially responsible for my weight, but I am so terrified of needles and drawing blood is SOO painful to me, I just can't get it done for the test.

I'm really dissapointed right now. I can't wear the cute clothes I want too and don't feel comfortable in a lot of my clothes.

Who can convince me to get the blood test? LOL.

I wouldn't assume its your thyroid. A lot of people try to search for reasons why they don't loose weight. Losing weight and maintaining is difficult for the majority of us and it takes huge efforts to find the reasons why we are overweight. You have to look at so many variables. Most of it will be due to eating too much versus our exercise levels. Too many calories in versus out.

I found for me that my weight crept up in my 20's because I was far less active. It's crucial to get exercise in and really push your body. Walking is a great start but make sure you get your heart rate up and push yourself. You are young and your body can adapt and take what you give it.

Good luck to you! I've tried every diet under the sun hoping to find the quick fix but after 12 years of trying I've concluded no diet works. It's about making serious lifestyle changes. Stick to eating lean meats, whole grains, fruits, veggies, and tons of water. Add on some good old fashion exercise and you'll lose the weight. :)

My heaviest was 171 and now I am down to 148. My ticker says 161 but that was the weight I was when I came back to the forum. I've lost this weight since Feb 2008 and running and watching what I eat was the trick.

My weight is not the only reason I assume I have it. I looked up the symptoms to really see all they way different people can react and the main ones were:

Feeling tired, weak, or depressed.
Dry skin and brittle nails.
Not being able to stand the cold.
Constipation.
Memory problems or having trouble thinking clearly.
Heavy or irregular menstrual periods.

I have most of those symptoms.
