Slight Weight Gain

Hello all, I am a newbie here! In the last couple of years I have been able to lose around 40 lbs but recently I have gained a few pounds back. It is only 5 lbs but I can't seem to lose it. I started working out in the gym and cycling but I seem to be adding weight instead of gaining it so i'm not sure what is going on. I know that I could be adding muscle which weights more than fat but I have only been working out a couple times a week for about 2 weeks so there hasn't really been enough time yet to add muscle. Any thoughts? I am only taking in around 1200 calories a day so this is a mystery to me. I am 35 years old and weight 135 lbs. Thanks.

Hey there. I feel your pain. I went from 140 lbs to 115lbs and recently I gained extra 8lbs but I exercise at least 5 days a week and eat very healthy. One thing I did notice is that I increased my work out intensity and I am doing more exercises with weights etc... Maybe that contributed to weight gain??

Anyways I'm started to run again and do more cardio and cutting back on the weights. Hopefully that will work.

Hi alester1115- welcome to the forum. One thing to consider...could you be in starvation mode? Starvation mode will hinder your efforts by making your body hold onto its fat stores and can put you at risk for other health problems. Try asking this question in "the harsh truth" section. In this area you can get answers from pros. Good luck!:D
