sleep problems from overtraining?

The past few nights I've had sleep problems. I have trouble falling asleep and when I wake up in the morning, I feel like crap. I am curious if I am overtraining, because I have heard sleeping problems are a symptom. here is what I have done in the past week or so:

Tues - 2-3 miles running
Weds - nothing
Thurs - pecs
Fri - day off
Sat - ran 3 miles
Sun - shoulders n triceps
Mon - back n biceps (sleeping problem begins)
Tues - 1 mile run with 2 miles on stat. bike with some squats and weighted ab exercises after
Weds - played 2 hours of basketball (couldnt fall asleep til 3 in the morning)
Thurs - feelin tired and sluggish right now, gotta work out pecs again...

OH YEAH! forgot to mention... I was in class today, and for no reason at all, I was sweating. Walkin' to and from class back to my place I was sweating.

Looks like the cutting is going to discontinue.....

Why do we overtrain so much? Guys take it from me..I used to be just like you when I was 17, 18, 19, I wanted to be Dorian Yates, Lee Haney, and Arnold. I trained day and night! Tried all the supplements--everything(Chromoiun Picolinate, Boron, Tribulus, Chrysin, Andro, Amino Fuel, Yohimbee - looked like saw dust!, and a ton others!)

3 surgeries by age 28.

Moral of my story? Listen to your body. Your lack of sleep is your body telling you something. Or yu will hear the dreaed words 3 different doctors have told me..."Find another hobby".

I wouldn't say your volume is too high since you have 2 full days off every week. When was the last time you took a full week off? What time of day are you training? What are your work hours like?

standapart, what kind of surgeries did you have? and why on earth did u take all those supplements?

a full week off? around October 24th-25th was when my week off ENDED and i started again. I think...

Yeah it certainly doesnt feel like im doing too much.but ive been doing some intense lifting... maybe i should take a couple of days off. finals ARE coming up after all....

Wolv. it could be your diet or it could even be your taking a nap around midday. That is a major problem if you can't get to bed at night. If its your diet its probably that your not getting enough water/carbs or that your eating non-easily digestable foods right before bed. Or it could be your Testoterone pumping like CrAZy.

k i think i got some good news. i hit the bench press today, and I was able to do more than usual. for example, my warm up, which is 7 reps of 185, was pretty easy. then i was able to do 8 reps of 205 which werent hard. then i knocked out a great 5 reps x 225. now i cant wait for next week, gonna shoot for 225 x 6-7 IF IM LUCKY!! Also, my incline fly weight has gone up. so since my strength has gone up, im not too sure that I am overtraining.

champ, that's definitely a good idea. im gonna put a lot more water into the body mid day. and im gonna try to shoot for even cleaner carbs than i was eating before. but i never nap midday.

leiyunfat, I worked through a lot of those issues on my own and with the help of Professor X. however, i have been known to go pretty beserk and that does feel good on the bod. *SNIKT*

I feel asleep earlier tonight! I feel asleep around 2:15 and woke up around 12:15. I needed that. I got finals comin up... Hopefully re-reading a ton of class notes and articles will just put me to sleep LOL.

yeah people, im a happy man. ive sleeping a lot better now. more water during the day, and dinner a lil closer to bedtime keeps me fat and happy as im going to sleep. but I think for Mon and Tues and possibly Weds, I'm not gonna do any strenuous activities... just to be on the safe side.

lmao- ha you -fat. thats good. can i ask why mon, tues and poss wed??? work ?? school??? :s
'fat and happy' is kind of an expression. for example, i like to feed my cat late at night to keep him 'fat and happy...' so he doesnt start meowing at 5 am lookin for a bite to eat!

tues and weds i got a lot of class. plus, they begin early in the morning. if all goes well, next term ill only have to wake up at 9 am once a week. i cant WAIT!! so yeah, thats why i take those days off, or i do run 2-3 miles or play basketball. Mondays, I only have two hours in the afternoon, but hey, might as well give myself another day of rest.

man o' kent, im seriously considering a holiday from the pump. but i feel so powerful and i love the pump. i love being pumped up. i love eatin a lot too, which is a benefit of the pump.

pump, pump pump pump, pump pump, pump... pump... pump...

LAST NIGHT... tuesday night (february 7th), i had a horrible night sleep. i could not fall asleep until 7 am. I was in bed since midnight. I don't know whats wrong. I had a long and strong back / pecs workout... But i still felt pretty good. The nights before then I still was not sleeping well. I don't feel stressed about essays or tests because I am ahead of the game this year :) Could this be overtraining? Could it be that I must stop looking at the computer late at night? please help

well i went through the same thing, for about 3-4 months i stayed up till 3am even 5am in some cases and i woke up around 6am or 7am thats like 3-4hours asleep per day. i soon realised it was due to stress, i was stressed cause of my exams u maybe stressed too. but now days i usually feel sleepy around 4pm lol , my body might be trying to catch up from sleep its missed :D

however one of einsteins theory proved that a human brain requires 30 seconds of sleep to recover and the body requires 30mins.

also to tell u the truth the less u sleep the less lazy u are next day.
i believe 5 hours sleep is enough for 1 nite

I agree with the 5 hour theory...for me anyways, but I've heard every single person is different and everybody has their "thinking times"...I know people who wake up at 4AM because thats when they're most moticated to do something productive..

I usually need 8 hours a day. Granted, they can be in 4 hour pairs or 3/5 splits.

Someday, if I don't have a lot going on, I want to try this:

how good is ZMA for getting a good night sleep. I heard it from some ppl that it really knocks you out and gives you "wicked" dreams. im lookin into that.

I have wicked weird dreams when i take a multi-vitamin 30mins-1 hour before bedtime. Also, if you are having trouble sleeping, go and get some melatonin. I took it for a while in college when i got a job working at 6am. It works wonders.
