thought id finally start a journal to stay motivated. Also Im taking meds that cause weight gain so I always have that working against me. hopefully I will still be able to lose some weight. My first goal is to get under 200 lbs. I will set another goal after that if I finally make it. Mostly working on changing my diet right now. I will add exercise in a week or so once I know I can control my food intake. Ive been working on changing my food intake for about 3 weeks now. For some reason whenever I eat a very very light dinner I weigh 2 pounds less in the morning. its like my stomach is totally empty by the time i weigh in. so my weight has been bouncing all over. my weight for today is 212.



had cheerios for breakfast with non fat milk.

16 oz water

apple for snack

chicken salad for lunch

16 oz water

orange

dinner cheerios

16 oz water
 
Good to see you starting a journal on here as well. Looking forward to your updates in the coming weeks and months and best of luck with the diet and exercise.


Have you picked any specific dates for the 200 lb goal, or picked any activity based goals yet?

Its been about 3 weeks since Ive had my coffee since it usually has cream. Dunkin Doughnuts are not shy about the cream so im sure there was a ton of calories in it. I think im going to pick one up and get it black and try it with non fat milk that I have at home. Not a big deal if its too horrible.


*edit went and got coffee. its not so bad black. maybe it will grow hair on my chest. also picked up a chicken breast sub from subway. I figure ill eat half for lunch and half for dinner with some greens.

snack - apple

lunch - half chicken breast sandhich

snack - orange

dinner - half chicken breast sandwich.

sugar snap peas

Getting to <200 by end of Feb and if your current weight is 212 today that is very aggressive...my experience says that may be about 1 month too soon...but everyone is different, so you know your body well enough to know what you can realistically do.

scbibhouse I think your right. I may have to move that goal up to 2 months. My weight is coming off VERY slowly. Im anxious to get to 200 though because any weight i lose after that i pretty much know its not water weight or some kind of freak weigh in.


Yesterday I was doing so good. my diet was all in check. then about 930 at night i said ill have an orange so im not hungry later. big mistake, I wasn't even hungry until I ate that orange. After that i was starved and ended up hoarking down 3 bowls of cereal. These were big bowls. cereal doesnt sound like a big deal but when your bowls are like 4 servings each and you eat 3 bowls. sigh.


I think im gonna dodge the cereal for now the serving size does not match whats in my bowl at all and its very deceiving.


I will update the meals Ive had for today later. hope everyone's weekend is awesome!


breakfast - 3 egg whites

snack - 1 gayla apple

lunch - chicken salad with honey mustard lite
 
Don't be too tough on yourself. These journeys are more about a series of small battles rather than any single day.


Snacking has always been my big downfall as well. Tough to keep a handle on those late night binges at times. One thing I've noticed that has helped in similar situations has been to grab a scoop of protein powder mixed with water or skim milk or something with natural peanut butter.


The other neat trick I've found that has helped in general is to use smaller bowls/plates for meals. Apparently it helps trick/train your mind into believing you're eating more than you are.
 
feelinggooder - yea maybe i will pick up some protein powder. ive had a certain brand before so I know it tastes alright.

lunch - half chicken breast on wheat from subway

dinner - cut up chicken breast on green salad with low fat honeymustard

Well done on bouncing back straight away after the 'cereal' incident. I have sooooo done that too lol It is freaky how many calories in the bloody stuff huh!!!!

I struggle with the evenings too. I know i am not hungry but i just want to eat something naughty. You know what works for me? Sitting here spending all evening reading and commenting on diaries lol. I sat down at about 8pm and i'm still not done an hour later!!!! So this forum is my lifeline in so many ways :)
 
We've all done it Mark. I can't snack on high-carb food. The minute I start I just want MORE!! Getting some protein powder would be the go & try to fill yourself up during the day, rather than risk being hungry at the end of the day, when your defences are down. The portions that they have on packets are miniscule so it's a trap that's easily fallen into. Back on track & another lesson learned. It never stops but that's ok too. Cheers Cate

Looks like you have stuff under control,your meals are sensable and i must say that it will probably happen many times to eat something that you wish you hadnt but thats just life!What matters is that you get back on and continue.I messed up recently cause i ate lots of muesli late at night!!!Thinking of this NOW i realise that ok i did go over on my cals but at least it was HEALTHY muesli rather that my old Mars bars and Twix's!!!

Looking forward for your updates on your new way of eating!Hope you get your exercise in there soon you will see so much difference!
 
Ahhhh cereal makes me fail so hard!!! It's especially hard because my bf has a ton of it in this house so when I end up cheating, that's usually the first place I go! And yeah, that stuff adds up fast! I remember the first time I measured out an actual serving of cereal and it barely covered the bottom of the bowl-- I was like what?? No one can live off that!! ;)

Very impressive though how you have bounced back! Your February goal is very aggressive, but I think you've got a good shot given how awesome you're doing, keep it up!!

Hey sparked. at least im not alone. I did the same thing. poured 1 serving of cereal and looked down at it pathetically. my Febuary goal is prob to aggressive. sometimes i forget im not 20 years old anymore. so it will take longer. Happy Valentines Day.



today is the 14th my weigh in day. I went from 212 to 210



meal plan for today is alot like its been. will do some food shopping tomorrow and pick up some ham and turkey for variety.

Awww Im so glad you have started a diary!! Are you still really unsure of what to eat? Or don't you like alot of veggies/pulses etc? Cereal is the devil I could very easily eat a box :D!! I'm a gluten for punishment lol How many calories a day are you eating a day? Don't worry about how fast or slow you are losing -slow and steady wins the race remember and healthy weight loss is 1-2lbs a week. Your doing great!

Hi Ashley. I think I know what to eat. I was trying to fit in more veggies to help fill up but ive been really lazy. On low days I think im eating around 1100 and normal days around 1300. Its a little on the low side but im not very active so.


I had high intentions of just going over everyone's diary and making sure everyone got their happy valentines but I just wasnt feeling up to it. I hope everyone is doing well and got to indulge in a little chocolate. mmmm. chocolate. I will have to fill out my food after I go food shopping. about the only thing I have left in the fridge is apples and oranges. Have a good day everyone!
 
No chocolate for me this VDay, which is odd because I have chocolate every other day. I had two pieces of candy on Vday but they were pretty much just sugary treats without fat or cocoa. Today is national hangover from binge drinking because you were single on valentines day day. Happy NHFBDBYWSOVD Day!!!
 
hehe you are to funny Oldschool. I didnt have a valentine either so I know how you feel. :cry: I didnt drink the doctors say I cant have alcohol. Have some for me though. ;) I just got in touch with my mom and sister to make sure they got theirs. My mom doesnt have anyone either so she was bummed out all day.
