Six months to get fit (and hot)

Oh wow, I would so love to go hiking in a place like that! Just gorgeous. And yeah, NZ is also on my short list of places I want to travel to some day.

That's great you had a good time Anna, I was wondering how it went :)
It must have been so nice to just have some quiet time in nature.
That's cool you felt a big difference in your fitness, must have ben way more enjoyable for you.

I'm glad you're back safe, and with such a positive attitude too :)

Thanks guys, It was a great time.

I've only had a small walk today (to the park with the dog), my legs are a little sore after the uphill and down dale of the last couple of days. Tomoorrow I'm back into my home cct, I've come up with a few new ideas to add some weight training. I'll write them here if they turn out any good.

I worked today and had a good eating day. I'm going to try and be strict strict with the food til Wed, after that I'm off to a conference for a few days in OZ! yay I love Australia it'll be fun to be there for a few days. I think I'll take my pedometer and try for 10000steps as a way of keeping active while I'm there. Hopefully it'll make up for the hotel lifestyle (and winery trip up the Barossa!)

Mmmmmmm barossa <3 went up there earlier this year and sampled squillions of wines, lunch at a local pub, then more wine!! :D

Love the sound of ur NZ trip, totally jealous, I want to go there so bad!!

Glad to hear you had a good trip, goodluck with the scales!! :) xx

Sounds like an amazing hiking trip Anna - very jealous!!

As for charting your weight - the site that hosts my ticker makes a graph of my weight long term and when you take a step back and look at it, the pattern over days and weeks, even though I bumped up a few pounds for a week here and there...it really is a downward trend. Makes me feel SO much better about small fluctuations as I can see the bigger picture. I find I have monthly cycles too...and tend to try and think in terms of "base weight"...i.e. a month or so ago my base weight was around 185lbs and I went up to as much as 188 during the day, and down to 183 on good days... now it has shifted to where I go up as much as 184 and down to 180 so my base weight is somewhere around 182lbs...so I feel like I am plateuing a bit because I'm not dramatically losing the lbs like I was before, but hey, they are still going...

I would definitely recommend keeping a long term chart - it REALLY helps you keep motivated and see the long term picture.

Hey everyone

Thanks for the ideas Jj I think I'm going to get out some graph paper and pens and do an old fashioned chart...haha it'll be fun for me.
If I do it today I'll be able to put my new LOW weight of 93.1kgs (as of this morning)... finally a loss on the scales to back up my thinking. Yay

I have those fat impedence measuring scales and they showed a drop in body fat as well so I'm pretty happy about that.

Yesterday was fun. WHen hubby and I were in the mountains he really noticed my fitness had increased, and yesterday he said "I'm going to start doing the home cct too" he's worried that he won't be able to keep up.haha He's always been much more mountain fit than me. So yesterday we were both out in the back yard doing step ups and lunges and skipping etc. Then I saw my neighbor watching us and its like he was impressed rather than thinking we looked likes idiots. SO cool:)

Yesterday I did 30mins of home cct for the 1st time (ave 155bpm). I'm actually enjoying it now.

Today I'm going to go to the pools for some laps and aqua jogging.

Hope you all had lovely weekends

Yay for fat drop! Thats a better measure than weight drop any day IMO. I was pretty damn psyched when I hit good numbers.

By the way... "home CCT" with your husband somehow brings a whole different mental image to me (I gotta be me). Why is the neighbor watching again?

Sorry... seriously, I wish my wife would choose to be more involved in fitness. It would be nice to have a built in work out partner.

Hope the weekend was amazing!

Those scales sound cool - and WELL DONE!!! That's awesome Anna :)

Lol at the neighbours! That's so cool your hubby is getting into it too, so much more fun if there's someone doing it with you. My hubby weighed himself today, yay! I think that means he's really going to make an effort :)

Had to go to a conference for the last week. I was over in australia which was nice but I had a bad cold all week which was awful. I only just made it through the week. I didn't really do much exercise (just a bit of walking from here to there etc) , but my meals were good choices and no snacks at all. I was traveliing with a skinny colleague so I just ate when she ate and that worked well. I was so busy there wasn't much time.

I collapsed into bed when I got home and had a 13hour sleep (when I wasn't coughing). Beginning to feel human again now :) I hope that another day in bed and I'll be able to start exercising again.

I'll get back to counting cals tomorrow, and I'm planning to be strict about it up until xmas. I'm not going to make a weight loss goal xmas but just want to keep the scales going down and the fitness going up.

anyways i'm off to catch up on everyone else :)

That is a great goal in itself! Great work so far Anna! Sorry to hear you were not feeling well while away - great to hear you made good choices though.
I'm so jealous your hubby is getting on board - working out together is something I would love to be able to do.
Keep it up and have a great week!!

I joined a new cal counting website today, so I've just been trying to work out how to use it etc. The old one I used I had to pay for and I resented it when there are some good free ones out there. I really wanted to use one that has nz foods in it. THe one I've joined is and aussie one and looks pretty good. I had to put in an aussie location so I've said I live in Queensland :) which it was the same temperature here as there though!

I'm still getting over this cold and have been sleeping heaps, not exercising cause of my poor lungs. I've been out doing lazy walks and hope to get a bit faster tommorrow. My eating has been according to plan though which is good... drinking lots of lemon and ginger herbal tea too YUM.

Anyways not much else to report, catch you all tommorrow.

Hey all

I've decided to start a new journal. I've been back here for 6 weeks or so and I'm at one of those points where I could just give up for a bit. SO for some extra motivation I thought I'd have a clean diary with new goals etc.

For those of you I haven't met before I'm Anna and I'm overweight! :waving:

My main goal for losing weight is to make my chances of getting pregnant better. We've been trying for about 3.5 years now, and have done 2 rounds of IVF (on top of all the other things you try), I've decided that I'll lose a bit of weight before we have the next assisted go. (obviously we still enjoy trying every month:hurray:). I think the IVF drugs, and associated moods with not being succesful made it difficult for me to lose weight, but now I'm into it!
I've copied these goals from the Valentines challenge. I'm really after a continuous loss over the next few months without losing focus. I'm not too worried about the scales as long as they keep going slowly down.

starting weight 219lbs (99.7kg)
current weight 210lbs (95.7kg)
goal weight for v day 180lbs (83kg)
goal weight forever 170lbs (77kg)

I just did some measurements as well so that I can keep track. (Its in cms sorry to the imperialists :ack2:)

Calves L 44.5cm R 45cm
thigh (above knee)L53.5cm R52.5cm
upper thigh L67cm R 68cm
Bum 117cm
Waist 94cm
boobs 103cm (with bra on)
upper arm (at bicep) L33.5cm R 35cm

Anyways hope some of you can make the journey with me :)

Anna

Ugh, is there ANYTHING worse than trying to be active and healthy when you're sick? I think not.

Feel better, girl!

Yeah I've been doing my easy walking... but feel a bit lazy. I did 10 min of my home cct today, but had to stop (my poor lungs told me to), another couple of days and I should be all good I think.

Hey Jess and Soco thanks for the thoughts.

Sorry Jewel I don't know much about vegetinariism... there is an area in the nutrition part of the website I think? Good luck with your journey :)

Lisa - my hubby has only done the workout once so far... hopefully he'll have another go soon :)

Lol yeah it would be great to have the support daily but it's always nice every now and then for them to seem interested. My hubby went for a jog with me once and afterwards was talking about how he could see himself doing it daily with me and then the next day the excuses started again.
Feel better soon Anna - get lots of rest and water, water, water!!

I'm finally feeling better. My lungs are still a bit puffy, but I can definately get back into the proper exercise. I feel like its been a hard week, and I'm a bit tired and de-motivated. I really want to keep getting fitter (and losing weight), but I today I feel like it would be nice if it just happened magically. Blah.

I thought up a fitness goal to achieve by xmas. I'm going to do 40 lengths of the 25 m pool by xmas. At the moment I'm doing about 22 so I'll increase by 4 lengths each time I go. So I need to go at least 5 times which is 2x a week. Feels like a good goal (and a bit different for me:))

I'm also going to try and get to 50 min when I do my cct, I'm up to 30 min(before I got sick), so if I add 2-3 min each time, I'll get there by the end of the year. Tomorrow I'll do 33 min (after walking the dog).

My exercise plan for this week.

Mon walk 40min cct 33min
Tues walk 60min swim 26 lengths, and aquajog 20min
Wed walk 40min cct 35min
Thu walk60min
Fri swim 30lengths and aquajog 20min
Sat easy walk for fun in afternoon
Sun walk/run intervals ?long

Food is 1500cals per day, I've dropped it back down, because I haven't been losing. I will eat a little extra on days that I exercise hard.

Hey! just hunted down your diary so i can stalk you better :D
Keep up the good work! we have similar start points and goals, only you are slight ahead of me!

It was 180, i regained 55 or so, but all good, ill get there again. At least i know i can do it now :D
