As of right now, I am thinking 2000 Calories a day or lower is good. I am probably going to cut back to 1 sandwich after today because I am feeling full now after one. Before, I was still hungry. I would have rather eaten two sandwiches instead of something worse. So, after today 1 sandwich and with a little less meat/cheese on them as well. So instead of a 500 cal sandwich, It will be around 250/300.

I am also probably going to limit the Klondikes to 1 every few days. This curbs my sugar craving. Just until I no longer need/want sugar regularly. Then I will mainly use them as "treats" for myself. Once a week?

All things considered, its going well. I am feeling better, happier and healthy. Yes, I feel healthy. Some might think I am crazy for saying that after only a few days but going from take out, McDonalds, Hardeeze, Wendy's, Burger Death, Outback, Olive Garden, Bullets, Famous Dave's and everything else that only requires "driving through" to more delicious, natural food, there is a big difference. You don't feel as "weighed down" if that makes sense?

Anyways - so far so good. Open to suggestions and Ideas. Asked around and had one person tell me to stick to calorie intake around 1200-1500 I think?

Hey sup, the sandwhiches you are eating..they on white bread or whole grain? Should really buy some whole grain bread if your not eating it. and on the label make sure it says made with 100% whole wheat flour not just wheat flour make sure it says WHOLE. =]. Pepperridge farm makes good ones.

and the person who said 1,200-1,500 cal intake is right. I'm having trouble staying in that limit. I eat about 700 or 600..thats only half...600 below the starvation mode limit. So im trying to eat 400 cals per meal (3 meals a day)

1200-1600 for your current size is entirely too low... 2000 is also going to be low but don't add back in the extra calories overnight.. if you search this site for harris benedict formula you'll find several threads that will give you an idea of the number of calories you should be getting in a day... not reducing too low is what gives long term success...

the only comment I'd have on your meals is that a random guess would give them an awful lot of sodium - turkey breast (the stuff from the deli counter) is chock full of sodium as are frozen dinners... and I'm not seeing a lot of fiber in your diet either....

but you're off to a good start..

Yup, it is 100% Whole Wheat bread. Only 50cals per slice. I looked at the pepridge farm bread (I agree, it is excellent), but I read in the ingredients it contains High Frutosce Corn Syrup. That stuff is in everything. I am staying away from it and going for a more "natural" diet. If I can.

Sodum in the rice is high yes. I am going to guess and say sodium is bad? Isn't that kinda like salt? Turkey is bad now? Lol. Oh man. What would I do without turkey!!! I am going to search for the forumla you mentioned. There is some discrepency on what my total calories should be.

Thanks! :)

sodium = salt

there's sodium in a lot of foods naturally, so it's not all bad for you - but like anyhting else in excess -it's not good for you.

turkey is good -it's protein - however processed turkey, like that found in deli meats - can be quite high in sodium (depending onthe brand purchased)

sodium contributes to high blood pressure (for those afflicted with that -which is why I pay attention to it) it also causes water retention...

there are some breads that don't havre HFCS in it - generally the mass produced breads do, but the smaller bakery breads are free of it -just spend alittle time adn read labels.

After your tips and some research, I have found that if I want to maintain my weight, I need to eat at least 3500 calories a day.

So, I think I am right about where I need to be, 2000 cal and under. No less than 1500.

Breakfast:1 Cup of Oatmeal (packet) - 130, Banana - 100, Aquafina Water.

Ok, I decided to not keep up with my calorie count anymore. I have a general idea of what I am at each day and don't have the time/desire to enter it here everyday.

I have ordered a scale and it should be here tomorrow. I gave up walking outside as it is nearly 98 degrees here and humid as hell. Makes it unsafe and hard to breathe. So, I decided on using the treadmill - disregarding the weight limit because I really want to lose this weight.

So, I started off a few days ago at 15 minutes (half a mile) for the day. A few days later, I am up to 1 mile (24 minutes). I plan to double that to, two miles a day, approx. 1 hour a day. If this seems fast to anyone, please let me know. I feel great and have no problems.

I have already seen a change in my face and stomache. So its going great. My portions are much smaller during the day but they are now also, more frequent and more spread out instead of one huge meal (dinner). I eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and dessert.

For anyone having trouble - the only advice I can offer your, and by no means am I an expert, You have to want it. You have to PUSH yourself everyday and remind yourself why you are doing this. Otherwise, you will never change. Hope everyone is doing great themselves.

Just stopping by to say hello and to let you know that you are doing a great job!

I really like your advice...it is so very true....YOU have to want it, and push yourself! Exactly how I felt at the gym today, when I wanted to stop...lol I just said "I want to do this!" I've noticed its all mental for me...I need to set myself mentally to push myself....

You're on the right track....I wish you lots of sucess!

I'm too heavy for the treadmill too ..sometimes I just sneak onto my mothers while she is gone for the day, but I like going outside more ..
I actually walk in really hot weather .. I have to jump into the shower after and just relax .. it is really hard in the heat ...
but ... I have to do it ...

but you are right ..it is mental...
and sugar cravings are icky ..
I am pre-diabetic ...so I would binge at night for sugar ..because I wouldn't eat enough during the day ..now I am balancing my meals out and am down from 300 ..when started to 295 ... not bad! I am liking the pattern I am forming ...

best wishes to you
the treadmill is an excellent way for you to work out ...
keep trecking
always

Wanted to thank you both for the kind words. Hope you two are doing just as good if not better :)

I think I am going to stick with 1 mile a day for a little bit so I don't adjust my body too fast in regards to plateus. I can still feel my body strugling with 1 mile so until I feel that its a breeze, I will stick there.

My scale comes in tomorrow!! Excited to see how much I weigh so I can get a starting point.

Hey SirK! It sounds like you are off to a good start! If I might chime in, I have found "good haven" bread to be delicious... I'm not sure if it's something just my local grocery store has, but I know they bake it on-site. It's not just wheat, but also seeds and very small nuts. My sister hates the texture of it, but personally, I love it! You get "good" fats, and also fibre from all the seeds and unprocessed bits.

As for walking... don't push yourself too hard to start! You've got the right idea to stop at a point where you are tired at the end but not completely exhausted, and move it up as your body adjusts. "No pain no gain" is a fast ticket to injury

Haha, lookit me giving advice like a pro while I'm still a newbie. It's just stuff I've picked up over time, hopefully it'll help :)

Well - I got my scale in today. Approx. 7 months ago I weighed 420. Today, I weighed in at a whopping 447. No wonder I have no engery. Its a wonder I am still alive and to think only a year and half ago I weighed 380.

447! Man - that just sucks. Oh well, I will work harder now because I have a goal/deadline and I need to get it done! I guess now that if I can see the weight going down, its even better motivation.

After seeing what I really weighed, it was more motivation to get on the treadmill. That I did.

Another mile down! Only 500+ more to go.

those miles will just tick away :) where are you headed on walk? :D

Wherever the music takes me :)

My main thing is when I am doing this is I tell myself I am doing it for me, my health and to show all those *%$#@rs that yeah, I might look better than you now! Mainly, I do it for me :) I want to feel better.

maleficent - you are really nice. Always responding to my posts. I need to find out where your journal/diary is and check things out. There are so many hours in the day. :(

it's the one entitled world of psychosis :) and it's way to whiney and annoying for anyone to ever want to read :)

Well, you "seem" nice. That better? :D I will check out your thread tonight when things calm down.

Looks like you are really on your way!
