Should I be worried?

Im 21y old, 6'2 and 325lbs. I used to be close to 340lbs. I cut back on my calorie intake to 1600-1800 per day. It used to be close to 4000 per day. The last few days though ive noticed that my weight has not been dropping like it used to. Ive been stuck around 325lbs-330lbs. I don't know why... WTF??

Well you might have hit a plateau. Depending on how heavy you are, a lot of weight can come off at first then you hit a wall. You could start exercising if you haven't been or switch up the exercise a little. I wouldn't suggest cutting down lower on calories at your height and weight. It's not anything to worry about. Give it a few more days in any case. Good luck.

Few days? For serious? :) With all respect to the previous poster, a "few days" is NOT a plateau. Heck, a week or more isn't a plateau yet.

Most people consider themselves lucky to lose 1-3 lbs PER WEEK. Just breathe here - and give your body some time. You may have lost weight quickly at first, but you're not going to lose weight every single day w/out fail for the entire time you lose. :) Really you're not and if you set yourself up to think you have to lose that way, you're going to be really disappointed.

But while I've got your attention ... :)

At 325 lbs, you should be eating around 2600 calories a day in order to lose weight at a sustainable, healthy rate. You need to make sure you're getting in a good amount of protein - at least 150g per day - and a nice balance of complex carbs and healthy fats.

Eating a proper balance of nutrients and calories will certainly maximize your weight loss and make sure that you don't stall out due to eating too few calories.

At your current weight, a healthy rate of loss for you is about 3 lbs per week. Set your expectations according to that, and you'll do well.

I was crying about not losing any over a month. Are you measuring yourself? During the month that I lost nothing, I lost 12+ inches all over my body. I shouldn't really talk since I'm the queen of impatience but, give it time.

Really sounds like your body is starting to go into starvation mode. You are not eating enough cals per day. Just remember good healthy cals.

To be honst at the size you probably burn 3,500 or so calories sitting on the couch so there is certainly a calorie deficit if your only consuming 1,800 calories a day. I would suggest you keep track of EVERYTHING you consume. Add every calorie avoid most salad dressings and especially mayo since they can really throw off your calorie count. If your exercising you may build a bit of muscle as well especially if your doing a lot of walking/jogging at that weight your leg muscles have to work hard. I would know about that one, hate running but when your that heavy and run you put on a lot of muscle weight in your legs. I use to weigh 395 pounds so I know how much it sucks.

Honestly I don't listen to my self most of the time and I freak if I don't lose weight for a few days but it always comes off eventually.:) I was stuck at 310 pounds for 2-3 months I believe it was, its extremely discouraging but im 296.6 now... If I can do it any one can... as undisciplined, lazy and impatient as I am.

Well my activity level before I started all this was almost non existent. But I have been doing some body weight exercises & I live in a 2 story house so Ive been running up and down the stairs a few times a day. I also count every calorie I eat and to be honest, it seems hard to even meet 1800 calories a day! I mean the foods I eat now are healthy and don't have many calories in them.

I drink lots of water too when I eat too. I try to space my meals out so I eat something once every 3 hours. I don't feel hungry. I have no idea how I could eat 2600 calories a day eating just healthy foods. I don't know... I'm totally inexperienced when it comes to this weight loss thing. BAH ill figure it out =/

Are you getting enough protein? Healthy fats? Both of those things will add calories to your diet in a healthy way.

What do you normally eat? If you list what you're eating on a regular basis, I can probably make some suggestions.

Oh god.. I know im going to get flamed for this but here it goes!

Ok so im a 21y MALE. I hardly know how to cook good food. So what do I do? Go to the store and buy those frozen meal things. The ones like "Healthy Choice" or "Smart Ones" or "Lean Cuisine". Ill also eat a banana or an apple. I try to stay away from starchy foods like bread, cereals, rice, pasta and potatoes. Ive only been drinking WATER. Maybe every once in a while ill have a glass of sweet tea :). Last night I made some Chicken Breast Tenderloins. I love chicken and I know chicken is a good thing to eat. No skin of course. Thats about what ive been eating...

You ought to look up nutrition facts, and the benefits of various foods.

Cabbage and Apples have good fat-burning qualities (Apples have pectin, which is also very good to help your galbladder in digesting the fats.) Forget what cabbage has, lol. You can make some really good cabbage soup and eat it all through out the day for a couple days of the week, using chicken stock, lotsa veggies and stuf. It flushes the bad stuff out of you too. I did it for a while, and once in a while I still make it.

Also a good thing for your body (Though it might make you feel icky at first) is to make breakfast your biggest meal. Maybe even eat dinner as your breakfast. I did this too, and it sped up my weight loss. Also, this should be obvious but if you drink colas and tea or coffee, don't use sugar, but a substitute. (It was so hard for me to give up cola, but coke zero and pepsi max taste fine considering they're diet.)
