Should I be eating more?

Hey all,

I had a quesion about nutrition. I have been working out and eating right for a couple months now and the weight has been coming off. Last week I started cycling 2 nights a week. I ride about 30 miles in 2 hours and according to my hr monitor I am burning approx 1300 calories. My daily caloric intake is 1500-2000. Should I eat extra on the days I ride?

what are your current stats? height/weight/age

I'm of the personal belief that more calories are better than fewer calories, while still keeping up a 1 percent of total body weight loss a week...

The reason being, if your weight loss stalls at the midway point, if you're consuming fewer calories, you don't get much play room to adjust them downwards...

and you want this to be a lifestyle change -not a short term diet if youexpect the weight to stay off so the rest of your life c alorie intake should be a little higher to be manageable..

A range I tend to shoot for, with moderate exercise is 10 - 12 calories per pound...

I am 6'1" 245 lbs and 29 y/o

As far as the 10- 12 calories pp, Is that of your current weight, or goal weight?

and there really is no one size fits all approach - everyones body is different and responds to different things...

Keeping yourself satisfied nutritionally is what leads to long term results... and that generally involves eating more... and enjoying what you are eating.

I currently am 245 lbs. Iam am eating 5-6 balanced meals a day 6 days a week with a "free" dat once a week. I never feel too hungry. I just wanted to see if I should increase caloric intake on the days when I burn so many calories.

Thanks,
Mike

since you are pretty active during the day I would go over 1500 calories a day for sure. If you don't go to gym or do any exercise except sit at work all day like me 1500 should sound like a safe number. Just my opinion.
