Should anyone feel hungry?

I've always hear that if you are on a "diet" or whatever, if you ever feel hunger pangs you shouldn't be on that particular diet. Or that you just aren't eating enough.

Is that always going to be true? Because what if a person is used to eating a hell of a lot all the time, then when they start a new diet, they just aren't used to eating less then say 2,000 calories a day?

Does that make any sense? Thanks in advance. I apologize if this is in the wrong part of the forum. :Angel_anim:

i can only give you my completely unprofessional opinon. i think its quite difficult to stick with a healthy eating plan if you feel hungry too much. if someone is eating 3000 calories a day and decides they need to lose weight, i wouldn't say they need to drop down to 1500 right away. they can cut down gradually to let their body adjust. now, there is no reason we can't feel a little bit hungry. i'm not saying that at all. but if the person feels like they are starving half the time i would worry they are not going to stick with it.

I think it's good to feel hungry before you eat because if you feel hungry then you know you should be eating, I dont think it's good to feel hungry a lot, because then you're probably not eating enough. I dont know though lol, paul mckenna or whatever he's called says eat when your hungry, he makes quite a lot of sense really :p

If you feel hungry, just eat something low calorie, like grapes, wich fill you up for a small amount of calories

It's impossible to NOT be hungry. Your body naturally makes you feel hungry as a way to tell you that it needs something; nourishment, nutrients, calories, protein, etc.

There's no way to cure hunger from ever occuring.

Personally, when I changed my eating habits to fewer calories and more veggies I did find that I was hungry more often. I learned that healthy food gets digested a lot faster than the junk I was eating before. I certainly wouldn't ignore hunger pains though- you can fill up on good stuff without going oveboard on the calories. Ignore hunger enough times and you'll really mess up your body.

I started a diet recently, and something it said made a lot of sense. A lot of the time when you feel hungry, you are actually thirsty. Get yourself a big cup of ice cold water and drink it and see if you are still hungry afterwards. Not only that, water has no calories, but is a good way to take the edge off of hunger so that if you decide you do want something to eat, you do eat less. So far that seems to be working for me. Of course, I am not a professional, just saying from personal experience.
