Hey everybody, hope you're all okay and are doing well on your weight loss.

Right, the thing is, I go to the gym twice a week, a 2 mile run every Saturday morning and I do 200 sit ups each night. I'd say I'm fairly fit, and I've never really had a big problem with my stomach. However, after doing 200 sit ups every night (not including 3 weeks when I was on holiday) since June, and my regular visits to the gym (although I only recently started going twice, used to be once) my stomach just seems to be... there. I'm pretty sure there's no fat (it doesn't wobble) and my stomach muscles are strong.

So is there any reason for my stomach to sort of... curve? Should I just continue to do my sit ups, maybe I haven't given it enough time? Or do use reckon it's probably my body shape, and unless I do extreme toning, it will remain this way? Answers will be appreciated! :)

Also, feel free to share your own wonders/stories/theories.

I have the same kinda thing on my stomach and I was told on this forum the other day that with women lots of sit ups creates a "pooch". Seeing as you say theres no fat, its the muscle just being toned that way. I am not sure how to get a flat stomach without doing sit ups but maybe you should lessen the amount of sit ups you do each night? I do 25-50 now as I don't want my stomach to be over toned.

How much is it sticking out? Keep in mind that muscles that have been worked are filled with blood and become bigger, so maybe that's part of it? Also, maybe the crunching action causes a bit more fluid to move into the area temporarily.

Thank you for your replies.
Becca15, I have cut down to 150 sit ups... I thought I'd do it gradually, not sure if it'll make the slightest difference but it just seemed the smarter idea! Perhaps your theory is correct.
Tomble, I didn't actually know what you told me so thank you for the facts, it is sticking out a little bit below the belly button. The thing is, it goes completely flat after it which makes the curve stand out even more!
Any more theories on why this is occuring?
Hope you're all doing well on your weightloss! :)

I still have no muscle in my tummy area but I have always had that what you describe: an outward curve on the lower belly (at the mo it is actually more like an outwards curve on the whole belly!) and then like a line and complete flatness beyond the line!
When I was smaller and I was looking enviously at the people with flat bellies my camp guard told me: it is just as normal for your belly to curve outwards as it is for theirs to curve inwards, there is nothing wrong with it!
I somehow really liked this from her, it was a sweet comment and it has helped me when I think my belly is yuck!
Ok I know no help, but I just wanted to add my two pence!
Love, Mila
