Hi,

yesterday this girl contacted me via msn and said that if i sign up for a free acai trial she will pay me $10. It would cost me $4.99 for shipping.

So why would she pay me $10 if i sign up with free trial and pay $4.99?

I asked if she would be willing to pay up front and she said yes.

Should i do it?

thanks:)

No...

What do you think that Acai is going to do?

it's not a miracle product no matter what the spammers will tell you

and she'll probably want a credit card and you'll be billed again and again.

Use some common sense...

my mom tried that junk and those people ended up charging 170 dollars out of her bank account...
=T the bank is refunding her because its a known scam! please dont fall for it!

There's been a lot of that spam for Acai lately. I'm skeptical of it. I don't really believe in "get thin quick" schemes. Exercise and common-sense dieting is the only real way.

Isn't there some kind of legal action that can be taken?

yeah i would think there is.. but who knows.

Thanks for an advice guys. But ive seen it work. My sister used them and lost quite a lot of weight. I quess its same with every supplement that you need to combine them with healthy diet and exercise.

Anymore when I hear "Acai" I automatically think about the stolen pictures from weight loss communities. To me, they're guilty by association. There are a lot of things out there that say "combined with diet and exercise" on them. You'll get the same results from eating healthy and exercising. Those things are like a placebo effect.

In part...

NOBODY IS GOING TO GIVE YOU SOMETHING FOR FREE !

* There is no Santa Claus
* There is no Easter Bunny
* There is no Tooth Fairy
* There is NO FREE ACAI BERRY

Sorry to have to be the one to burst your bubble. I'm sure you've hear people tell you " If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is", right? Well, listen to them. There is no such thing as FREE ACAI BERRY

“Free Trial Offers” for Acai Berry are NOT FREE!
In fact they will cost you more than 4 TIMES AS MUCH as it should cost per bottle. In these scams, the charge per bottle is usually around $80. Twice as much as quality freeze-dried acai berry should cost. But they send you crappy drum dried Acai Berry, which cost about 1/2 as much to produce. So you end up paying about 4 times more per bottle than you should.

You will be signed up for a subscription
Yes, they say they just charge you for shipping. If that were so, it wouldn’t be bad. But in reality, they just want your credit card number and will bill you every month for a subscription you didn’t sign up for. They bury the fine print in their terms and conditions.

You will spend hours trying to cancel this subscription
There will either be noone to contact to return the crappy product, or they will say you have to call their customer service number to get return authorization. When you do, you are put on hold and shuffled between different people until you give up. Don’t believe me? Before you purchase, call or email them and say you did not sign up for a subscription and please stop sending the product. You will get the runaround

The Acai they ship you will be a very cheap, extremely inferior product

They don’t expect you to be happy with the product. They don’t care, so they make even more money by shipping you crap. Acai Berry supplements must be freeze dried, or else they lose most of the nutrients and antioxidents. These scammers use cheap, heat processed Acai that cost 1/2 as much.

etc. etc.

Go further down that page and read the 70 comments or so from people that got duped by that Acai Berry scam.

Is this a serious question?

Hell no, you shouldn't do it.

Consumers warned of acai berry Internet scams

Mon. Mar. 23 2009 11:55 AM ET

If you've spent any time online, you've probably seen them: the ads for diet products made with the trendy berry açai. But you may want to think twice about signing up for one of these diets.

The consumer advocacy group, the Center for Science in the Public Interest, is warning that not only are the diets questionable, many are offered through an online scam.

The article goes on to point out...

The Better Business Bureau in the U.S. released a statement this January warning consumers to be wary of website offering acai berry-related weight loss products, saying it has received "thousands" of complaints from consumers.

In many cases, when customers try to contact the company and cancel their subscriptions, they are forced to sit for more than an hour on hold. Additionally, some consumers have complained of unauthorized charges on their credit card or bank accounts for products they did not order.

Several customers reported they were eventually forced to close bank accounts and cancel credit cards to stop the charges.

Worth reading before getting involved with this worthless swill...

thanks for posting that doc and spreading the news. unfortunately a co-worker of mine also ordered this acai berry that was supposed to be a "free trial" and he got charged about 200$ (why he gave them his credit card number for a free trial is mind boggling to me but anyway thats beside the point) they would also continue shipping him the product and charging his account, and he could not get a hold of anyone to cancel it. he eventually had to cancel his credit card. also, they have stolen before and after pictures FROM THIS COMMUNITY for their ads to use as "success stories"

I hope your friend disputed the charges so he can get his money back.

yeah i havent talked to him in a little bit but this happened quite recently and i think hes still fighting with them. i hope he gets it all straightened out. its just sad to see that people can be so gullible and think a berry powder will solve their weight problems

The best part about all this, the studies are starting to come out that there is no truth to the fat burning magic claims.

I think the good thing is these people will be found if operating within US jurisdiction and prosecuted. The scam was too blatant and widespread. They really should have controlled themselves. The majority of people would have cancelled late anyway. They still could have made a killing. Its not like their operation costs are high.

NO. Beside the questionable efficacy of Acai. You should have to pay to get paid. Tis a scam of some sort - or just a worthless deal.:smash:

It always blows my mind that we spend money on so many useless studies when anyone with a bit of common sense could come up with the same result. Every single ad for every single weight-loss-magic-voodoo serum says the exact same thing:

yeah i would think there is.. but who knows.

Exactly, diet and exercise. So what the hell is the point of the supplement? To take your money. /end
