Ok, I know I have issues with weight loss and I am not the only one. This is not a personal forum for me so anyone can join in. I have been using the rice diet to lose weight but it is hard for me because I cant exercise due to physical limitation. I have gone from 181 2 yrs ago to 147 now and am only 4'10" so I have about 30 pounds left to get to my goal weight. If you have had any success losing weight please share your secrets with the rest of us. Please make sure they are healthy.:jump:

Simple. Eat Less, Exercise more (whatever activity you would like)

Drink a gallon or more of water a day, (Icy Water)
Eat Spicy foods (They tend to burn more calories when you eat them)
Eat 6-7 small meals a day. (Eat at regular intervals.)
Do 15 min cardio before going to bed.
Eat 50% protein 35% Carbs 15% Fat
Have a multivitamin
Eat slowly.
Include two fruits or vegetables in every meal or snackDon't eat on automatic pilot (i.e. tasting while cooking, noshing from the serving bowl.)
Try an herbal supplement to help curb your appetite and give you more energy
Go for the less processed food
Watch your fat intake.
Go easy on salt.
Change from table butter to cholesterol free butter.
Baking, not frying.
Use a non stick frying pan.

weightloss

Ok, I have been dieting for years so of course I have tried all the suggestions that doctors have with the water, the counting calories, everything. I cannot exercise, not will not exercise, cannot. I have discopathy in my lowback and neck and a birth defect in my lumbar spine all of which periodically cause me intense pain. I was exercising fine for about 5 months then I am down for the count for another 5 and this is my life cycle. So the basic principle of the rice diet is as follows along with some examples:

Day One: Basic Rice Diet
? Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner: 2 Starches, 2 Fruits
Days Two through Seven: Lacto-Vegetarian Rice Diet
? Breakfast: 1 Starch, 1 Non-fat Dairy, 1 Fruit
? Lunch and Dinner: 3 Starches, 3 Vegetables, 1 Fruit
Basic rules of thumb on serving sizes:
? 1 Starch = 1 slice bread, 1/3 cup cooked rice or beans, or 1/2 cup cooked pasta
? 1 Fruit = 1 medium sized fruit, 1/2 banana, or 1 cup cut fruit
? 1 Vegetable = 1 cup uncooked or 1/2 cup cooked
? 1 Dairy = 1 cup milk, 1 cup yogurt, or 1/2 cup cottage cheese.

Day 1:
Cleansing Day:

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner:
2 starches, 2 Fruits
2 slices of bread, 2 cups of cut fruit
Day 2-6:
Breakfast:
1 dairy, 1 fruit, 1 starch
1 cup of milk, 1 cup of cut fruit, 1/3 cup of rice
Lunch and Dinner:
3 veggies, 3 starches, 1 fruit
1 ½ cups of cooked broccoli, 1 cup cut fruit, 2 pieces bread and 1/3 cup riceDay 7:
Breakfast:
1 dairy, 1 starch, 1 fruit
1 cup milk, 1 cup cut fruit, 1/3 cup of rice
Lunch:
3 veggies, 3 starches, 1 fruit
1 ½ cups of cooked broccoli, 1 cup cut fruit, 2 pieces bread and 1/3 cup rice
Dinner:
3 veggies, 3 oz. protein, 3 starches, 1 fruit
3 cup uncooked broccoli, 3 oz chicken breast, 2 slices bread and 1/3 cup of rice, 1 cup of cut fruit

NOTE: Use brown long grain rice for more nutrients and less sodium and calories. I add cinnamon and splenda (instead of sugar) and a chopped up banana and I use this for a whole meal, believe it or not it is quite filling. I also make a bulk batch of rice on Sunday then use that througout the week since it takes 30 minutes to cook it. I buy Uncle Bens in the see through bag, it is the most nutritious.
Of course still keep drinking your water.

Now I do the cleansing day everyday. That is not recommended for those who do not have a medical education nor for those with medical problems. Usually Duke University, the inventors of the rice diet, want only medically supervised patients to follow the cleansing diet for at least 1/2 the time they are using the diet then to follow the rest of it after they have completed their detox. For instance, detox for 2 weeks then use the rest of the diet for the other 2.

I have found that special food diets just make my tummy sick. Counting calories is the only thing that works for me. But it must be done right. I find that I have to measure every meal. I just saw the special on the man in mexico that could only lay on his back. He lost 500 pounds counting calories, even though he can only lay on his back. Makes me feel small for complaining about my 30 lbs.

ok for me things have been going like this

I went shopping a bought a few things
-I cant believe its no butter or any other butter replacement
-Diet Soda (this started a few years ago)
-Reduced fat peanut butter
-Reduced fat salad dressing
-and a few other things

I brought these things home saying this is going to be bad Im going to feel denied and sad.

But not true after a few days trying these things I have never turned back. going on 4 months now.

When I was young I drank a TON of soda a ton. then I switched to diet and after that I couldnt go back to regular soda it tasted to sweet. Then eventuall I went from diet soda to ice tea to a ton of water. I havent drank soda in months now.

Its the same with butter. I used to put butter on my bagels in the morning when I switched over to I cant believe its not butter or smart balance now I cant touch real butter it doesnt taste good to me anymore.

So try these things and stick with them it was like this for me I would always get a craving for something salty or sweet I would have to have it but not anymore cause I told myself that i wont die if I dont get it. I got those feelings out of my system.

So stick with it guys and eventually it will click

The secret to weight loss is not a rice diet, its not a high/low carb diet, its not high protein diet, its not fad diets, and its not any liquid diet and its not about cleansing diets! The proper and ONLY way to healthy fat loss is a PROPER diet and if possible, some exercise. Now in this case I understand that exercise is out of the question, but it's still possible...Ignore all those "cant eat this, cant eat that"...or all the liquid cleansers that take fat from one place to another and due to some miracle breakdown makes you lose fat...forget all of that.....What you need to focus on, is calories, calories, calories.....A calorie is a calorie, it can either come from fat, carbs, or protein.....FATS in food does NOT make you fat....CARBS do not make you fat..Protein does not make you fat! Eating too many CALORIES than your body needs, make you fat! Start with the basics, the basics go a long ways....Count your calories, avoid fried foods, and any snack that you may have, should be worked into your daily allowed calorie intake....Do not EXCLUDE any food groups from your diet, just watch what you eat, eat greens, eat lean meats and use Fitday.com to keep up with your caloric intake, it's truely a nice program. Good luck to you and be patient, it'll be worth it in the end.
