Sex Drive and Weight Loss

I still have a long way to go, but the progress so far has in fact increased my sex drive. I find myself interested a lot more often... And the actual act has improved as well. My bf and I are both dieting and just seem to fit together better... Various positions/movements are a lot easier and there's more energy. I also seem to climax pretty much every time we have sex, which hasn't always been the case... But it's a combination of him having better stamina and me having more drive. Works out great for everyone!!

My sex drive has never been as low as it is now that I've gained so much weight. With other relationships I was always ready to be intimate. But now I just don't have the energy. My body can't move how I want it to. So I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing a change... if there is one. LOL

i don't know for me.. My hormones have been all over the place with being pregnant, breastfeeding, changing diet and exercise, getting different types of contraception, and stressful times.

I definitely know that when i am in the process of GAINING weight, I feel terrible and will not go near my hubby at all! Also, increased confidence when I'm losing leads to BETTER sex, but I'm not sure if it leads to MORE sex.

At the moment, I just don't have time to think about it as much. I wish I was a stay-at-home mum and had time!

update...

So, after a serious (really insane and inappropriate at times) rise in sex drive at the beginning I am now sort of at a stable weight (I am planning on dropping ten more pounds though), but I'm at a plateau, I have balanced out a bit.

I noticed that everytime I tighten the reigns on food again (meaning being very careful and strict) my drive goes through the roof...Which is happening now because I am back to my dieting schedule from before (I have friends here for a month and have been enjoying them, so not being too crazy with the diet...life comes first:cool:)

Maybe I am trying to replace food with sex? I have always had a very high drive, so imagine how ridiculous it is when it spikes...fun times, but still a bit distracting, during work, for example....

Anyway, I am not complaining, it is just a noticeable change and I find it interesting...

I have never had a problem with my sex drive. Most of the time I think my hubby wishes that my sex drive was lower:rolleyes:. But, it does increase as a loose weight... my poor hubby!

LOL Wish the ladies that have a high sex drive could talk to my wife. She has none.

Weightloss has not affected my sex drive. However, when I started weight training it went through the roof. Wish I could decrease it. Make life much better all around.

I'm in a long distance relationship and as I've just started my program, he's just started waiting tables. So our (damn) phone sex life is non-existent at the moment. I'm not hooking myself up either, because right now I'm so sore and drained from all the exercise that it just doesn't sound appealing.

However, I'm seeing him at the end of October. But then, I should have adjusted to exercising so much.

I'm also using the "sexercises" from Tracey Mallett's Sexy in 6 book. They include exercises to do with a partner (as well as solo exercises to help with stamina and better orgasms) and Dan's already been forewarned that he's going to be helping me "work out."

As for his reaction - ah, what can I say? I'm a sucker for younger men.

Interesting topic, and I had to throw in my $0.02. It seems that the reactions are all over the board. Here is my take on it. In my case, the libido portion has never been questioned, nor has my wife's. We both have extremely high drives. I can honestly say that we have been married for 21 years HAPPILY ;)

Where the issue used to be was when I weighed close to 400 lbs. It was a question of stamina, breathing ability, flexibility , etc.

I guess then that the answer is, no, the drive hasn't changed, but the ability to make use of it has :D And yes, it can be an aerobic activity if it lasts long enough (and the kids are out of the house for a while) ;)

I would of normally said yes.. The last time was over 3 weelks ago and im not even wanting it really. My sex drive has always been through the roof...but lately I find myself wanting to just go workout instead...that cant be a good thing...

This is an interesting thread. I think "the drive" is dependent upon many and sundry factors. For myself, however, I do notice that my increased self-esteem and increased energy make me even er...you know... more than usual! Poor DH. He has never had a strong drive, and I'm sure it is a bother to him that mine is so...umm...healthy...:hurray: hee hee

Sex drive alone--increased when I'm heavier. Moderate decrease the smaller I get. Don't know the whys or what fors. Never lacked confidence in the bedroom no matter what size I am, but I think that's part of getting older and feeling good about and knowing who you are beyond weight...probably a function of confidence too, but by that point it's confidence in..umm..skills:coolgleamA:

Maybe because I have psoriasis too, the weight really never made me self conscious. It was my psoriasis that did and still does. It may go away and it may not. Kinda sucks that I still won't be wearing sleeveless and shorts even when I'm in good shape because of it.

sorry, answer though is...decreases just a little bit the smaller I get, but not enough for my so to notice a difference.

I have never noticed an increased sex drive when I lose weight. On the flip side, I have always found it ironic that when I get pregnant is always when I have just gained a bunch of weight or in the process of gaining. While losing or maintaining a weight I never get pregnant, but the minute I jump 30 lbs. up then it happens.

Amazing how different we all are. I generally get pregnant when I lose weight, not gain. My first child happened after a 20lb weight loss when my other half and I gave up trying to have a child. 2 months and 20 lbs later and I was pregnant and this was after 17 mos. of trying prior to that and watching my weight go up thanks to a few months of mild fertility drugs and stress from the whole process.

I know that the confidence, looking better naked, being light etc...helps. But I have a friend who was losing weight and felt no desire - almost like she got her "rush" from exercise. So I am curious as to whether people have felt that they have sex on the mind more, for example. Not just the actual physical act being more pleasant. Has anyone felt that they are changing or thinking about it more?

Thanks for all of these responses. I feel like this is an entertaining topic and that we will get some fun posts. ;)

xoxo

I think that's what it is for me. Exercise...well I actually enjoy it and it offers me a release of sorts for stress so I have less desire to find that release in sex or even food.

I've been accused on my training walks of being a hormonaly charged boy crazy teenager... :)

and I think Steve might say I'm a little obsessed :) really I'm harmless... :D I've always been like this..

Do I think about sex more - oh god yes, but that's primarily because it's been ... counts on fingers... moves to toes.... 17 months since I got any... I NEED SEX!!!

Oh cripes did I say that out loud? :D

No really, my desire to get laid hass nothing to do with losing weight, I still look like crap so it's not a confidence thing -it's entirelly about deprivation...

You know...this is a post I can agree with.:rotflmao:

You are both very fortunate. This is an area I think couples sometimes discount at the onset. With this and several other things going on, my marriage is and has been done. We are roommates now who just work towards individual goals.

BTW, I was the one with the drive. I told him a few years back that if I didn't initiate we'd never have sex. I finally put that to the test and that was exactly the case. That kind of sealed the deal for me finally.

It sucks too because my problem doesn't seem to be the normal occurance in many marriages. Usually the other way around..just my luck to be the misfit. :blush5:

ANyway, enough of my woes. You and your wife are very very fortunate to be so evenly matched.

same here hun. I feel for you... You are not a misfit but I also feel that way sometimes. : ( I think its worse when a women isnt haveing sex when she wants it because it makes us feel ugly, self conscious and less than best. Guys just think oh shes tired.. I still have fun with my hubby just not much going on in the bedroom : ( It happens like once a month if that...

weight loss and sex drive

:patriot::smash:
Hi all!

I am starting this thread to discuss sex drive and weight loss. Has anyone noticed a rise or fall of their sex drives with the changes in eating/weight/exercise? I looked all over the forum and did not find anything related to the sex drive and think this is an interesting topic to bring up. I am noticing difference for sure, but was not sure if it was just because I feel better about my body or because of something medical.

I looked it up online and found this interesting little article dealing with the subject:

Better Sex: What's Weight Got to Do with It?

Let me know your thoughts and experiences. I am interested in hearing about the experience of others and your possible reasons...
