Serious exercise question

I have a serious question about exercising. Is it healthy to exercise then rest then exercise again. For example if I were to exercise 30mins or an 1hr 6 times during the day on a tredmill then stop to rest then get on again then rest, is this healthy? Or if I were to do the same except sleep for at least 4 hours then exercise 30mins or an 1hr then sleep for at least 4 hours again then get up and do this same thing 6 times a day? Would this kill me?

no, that is horrible. Sound like you are in a hurry to shed some pounds, but you would be so worn out and tired by the second day you wouldn't get out of bed. Do it in moderation, an hour a day would even be a stretch, especially if you are just starting out. Being healthy and shedding some fat takes time man, just be patient.

most likely if you did this on a regular basis. you would be seriously taxing your system. Marathon runners only run a big run once a week or every two because it is very hard on the body. You would probably find yourself sick in bed after a week or two of this

You will lose most of your lean muscle tissue going this route and will end up looking horrible in the long run. Create a sound diet and training routine and you will see great results.

Well I haven't been tired yet and it's been 4 days since I started doing this. I think I am paranoid about it, but I don't want to kill myself either :(

How do you find time to spend 6 hours working out or alternating w/ 4 hour sleep sessions? That seems a bit crazy to me. Anyways it doesn't sound safe to be spending that much time working out.

I am currently losing fat at an incredible rate simply by doing 30 mins a day 6 days a week alternating between upper and lower body.

15 mins eliptical trainer at level 12 (out of 16, may vary) burning 350 cals
15 mins of chosen body part weights and toning programme. I keep this as intensive as possible by removing gaps, i.e. shoulder press 10 reps, biceps 10 reps, back to shoulder etc. It's important that if you do alternate like this you must use different muscles so you don't strain one muscle.

I tell you what, this intensive 30 min programme (excuse the spelling, i'm english ;) is much more effective than doing 1 hour of cardio and you lose none of your lean body mass :D Also it means you are more likely to do it because you only have to pump the cardio for 15 mins at a time. It's important that you don't take too many long breaks after the cardio, however, because you need to get the heart benifit from the weights and toning part as well.

Hope this helps.

Experts, please correct me if I'm wrong :)

(just a newbie myself)

For it to qualify as resistance training, it has to stress the type II fiber.

What you're advocating is cardio for the arms or legs or what ever body part.

Resistance training will preserve LBM. Cardio, in excess, will eat it up.

I'm not talking cardio for arms and legs, I'm doing 10 reps of a weight that is as much as i can handle, then 10 reps of a different muscle group of as much as i can handle then back to the first, it's definately resistance training but it also gives a slight cardio benifit because the heart rate is kept up there by not taking long for breaks.

haha, did it work? Feel awful each morning, or feel alright?

Tone it down, take a day or two off, and then start back up.
I've been on a biiiiiiiiiig cut (let me emphasize big) for a year and to be honest I got burnt out. School picked up this past three weeks and I havn't seen the gym. But it will all be back to normal come wednesday when my semester is complete....looking very much forward to it!!
