Hello!
Ok, so I promise I am serious this time
I am a 28 year old married mom to a 19 month old baby girl. Starting this fall I will be going to school full time but only 2 days on campus. I have finally tipped the scales at 300 lbs for way to long now and I need to lose it!!
I went to my free assessment at my newly joined gym feeling more disheartened then before. I know that the point is to sell me their programs but he made it sound like I couldn't do it without them.
So, I googled and found this board.. hopefully saving myself $500 -$3,000 and a lifetime of being fat.
My biggest issue is overeating... like BAD I just feel constantly hungry all the time.
I hope to become a solid member but I'll spend the next few days/weeks lurking
Thanks!

Heya and welcome! :) I'm a big lurker on these boards, too.

The folks who were selling you the Without Us You'll Fail line *know* you can do this without them. Hence the hard sell, right? But I hope you don't let their emotionally manipulative sales pitch put you off joining a gym if it turns out you eventually want to.

You're going to do great, and (speaking as a fellow lurker) I know you'll find loads of information on these boards to help you learn about and change your overeating habit.

See you on the boards! :)

Being an over-eater is okay as long as you're eating the right stuff. For example, if you have a binge on cake it's going to make you pile on the pounds, stuffing full of salad isn't going to hurt you at all. Try swapping the food you normally eat for healthy versions and have things like low-cal jelly cups, nuts and salad in for when you are starving! You should make a diary to update your progress!

THANK YOU Sunflower for validating what I was already hoping was true. I've been SOOOO hungry since I've started working out... and not just the "I just want to feel full" feeling but hunger. I've been trying to only eat healthy items... like I hate two huge bowls of salad with Low-cal dressing and an assortment of veggies... I've been trying to feed myself the way I feed my daughter.. but I just don't have the love of fruit like she does.... but I am trying.

I recently bought a fat burner powder from GNC that's suppose to help with the working out and it's a meal. For some reason I can't get myself to eat breakfast, so I thought I would try drinking it.

One thing that has been helping me is writing down everything I eat. You can go to websites like livestrong.com and they have calorie counters there you can use "AS A GUIDELINE" it will help!

For me at 5"9 255 currently it says I can eat up to 2600 calories a day. Granted I don't know how I ever ate that much in the past, most likely because it was lots of fast food/deep fried garbage. I've cut out all soda(easier then I thought) all deep fried food, much of my red meat intake is gone.

Overall I am eating between 1500-1900 calories a day and I feel pretty good right now. I feel that this is the most important step. getting your food cravings undercontrol. I was personally the type to eat when I was bored, sad, angry etc. I would just eat because there was nothing to do.

Now that I eat regularly 3 times a day and drinka lot of water(water can help curve hunger cravings, sometimes thats all your body is asking for) and in the 4 1/2 weeks I've been doing this I've dropped down nearly 10 pounds!

Welcome to the board and I hope you continue learning and reading on these forums. They have helped a lot in the short time I've been browsing.
