Self Improvement E/Books

I enjoy reading self improvement books or listening to them as e-books. I actually gather encouragement from and refer back to them from time to time.
I have three that just recently arrived in the mail.

The Power of Self-Coaching – The five essential steps to creating the life you want by Joseph J. Luciani Ph.D
Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers – The acclaimed guide to stress, stress-related diseases and coping by Robert M. Sapolsky
The Courage to Be Yourself: A Woman's Guide to Emotional Strength and Self-Esteem By Sue Patton Thoele
I listened to an e-book last year that I liked a lot. It was called ‘Monday Again?!’ I can’t remember the author’s name. It was a male….
As A Man Thinketh by James Allen (e-book)

I wouldn’t consider myself a depressed or stressed out person at all. I love where it seems my life is heading. But I do have to deal with an overloaded calendar sometimes. This is Final Exams Week (I'm studying to be a scientist...'nuff said) and these types of e/books remind me to slow down, just do what I can and everything I’m able to accomplish is just fine since that was my best.

Mystery novels, creative writings, non-fiction books and fantasy tales are all excellent and I own those too but I think it’s nice to also get things on personal development.

What about you? ^_^

ROFL - somehow I didn't notice it before :D

Obviously I'm a big fan of Zebras ;)

I don't know if they really qualify as Self Improvement, but I do enjoy reading books that are sort of studies of the human condition.

I really liked:
Mistakes were made (but not by me)
Crucial Conversations
The Five Love Languages

... I could probably look up the authors, but I probably should get back to being productive! :smilielol5:

I didn't see this thread before either.

I love self-help books. I find them really helpful especially when i am emerging from a bout of depression. They get your focussed and its a good time to read them because you are receptive to new ideas. At least i find myself like that then.

I never read any sort of self-help book or self development book before i started therapy. Oh except one when i was really young which i quite liked.
It was called Erroneous Zones and was quite famous.

The book that made me decided to start therapy was the all time classic "The Road Less Travelled"

My most recent favourite self help book was Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway which has a BRILLIANT first chapter. And lots of other good ideas.

Eat Pray Love motivated me to take up meditation again. And i really enjoyed it because she's a very good writer.

I also find various sorts of biography and travel stories to be self-developing. The Biography of Charles Darwin is one of my all time favourites. The Biography of Anne Sexton didn't really help me with myself because we don't share anything in common but it was fascinating.

I love cycling travel books by Dervla Murphy - made me want to go to Madagascar though i didn't make it due to depression and having a bad year. , Anne Mustoe's A Bike Ride, motivated me to take up cycle touring.

Think and Grow Rich was a wonderful money making motivation book and it helped me with my business.

A friend has just given me a round the world sailing book. I've already done half a circumnavigation so It probably won't motivate me to do anything but i wonder if it hasn't affected my friend and caused her to start a new dream.

Reading is good but I don't read much anymore since i got my internet habit.

Update: I'm on the President's List ^_^

I'm currently reading 'The Courage to be Yourself'.

I'm also trying to decide which e-reader I want. Nook, Kindle, Pocketbook Pro or something else... I don't know.

Can't say for sure - a friend of mine at work just gave in and got an IPad and called it good.

I've held off from deciding!
