Ok, I am 35 and 6'5. I was at my heaviest 8/2/09 I went to the Dr and weighed 386. I was put on fentermine and started working out again. 1st time in 15 years probably. I was lifting weights and doing cardio. Went back to the dr. 9-2-09 and was 362. I have increased my work out so it looks like this. 15 min cardio 140-150 heart rate. Work out 2 body parts 4 sets of 8-10 and 4 machines. Also crunches. as many as I can till I stop, and then I do 20 min cardio. alternate treadmill and elliptical. as of yesterday I weighed 343. 9-24-2009. I changed my diet a lot. No sodas at all. 100% water all the time. probably drink close to a gallon a day. I use to dring that much in coke.. UGH.. I also eat protien. Chicken, chicken, chicken. some fruits, veggies, some cheese, (one meal a week I might eat a burger or something) Baked potatoes 1 per week maybe. I really cut back on my calories coming in. I am looking at getting some protien drinks for inbetween but really I am usually not hungry. I work out on Monday mornings. Mostly cardio - Monday evenings (work out as stated above). Tuesday mornings. mostly cardio. Thursday evenings (as above), Friday mornings (mostly cardio) Sat and sunday as stated above.. regular workout. 7 times per week. I have gone from a size 54 to a size 44. a 4-5xxx shirt to a 3x shirt.. So I can tell a differance... However my stomach remains my sorespot.. I was looking for suggestions as to what I can do to get more cut in my stomach and sides.. I am building muscle.. bicepts, tricepts, chest, sholders, etc.. stomach is HUGE! lol... any help would be greatly appreciated..

Congrats on the huge progress you've made so far!!! I just started this week and it's really exciting reading about how well others are doing! :)

Unfortunately, I don't believe there's much you can do about targeting specific regions when losing weight. :( But don't let that discourage you, don't forget that you're in this for the long haul and as long as you keep doing what you're doing, it'll come off in due time. :)

Well done on your weight loss so far.

You cannot target any specific areas. You just have to hope that if you exercise to preserve muscle while eating at a deficit to lose fat - some of it will come off your worst areas. There was no predicting where the weight was going to come off the next bit of me. I lost loads of weight off the top of me left leg before anything came off the top of my right leg. I had one fat leg and one comparitively skinny leg for a while. It all evened out in the end though...

We can however exercise in order to tighten up muscles - so strengthening your tummy muscles may help your appearance.

As has been said - since we are doing this as a new way of life and not a short term fix "diet" all your big fat areas will slim down in time.

Good luck.
