Seeking Advice (Newbie)

Hello,

I'm new to the forums :) and I was wondering if I could get some advice.
About 7-8 months ago before I moved I weighed about 250lbs
I'm currently 25, 5'10, 177lbs and my target weight is about 140-150lbs.

I walk 3-6 miles every day (outside) and workout 6 days a week ranging from 1-2 hours each day with usually 2 weight lifting days and 4 cardio focused days.

Since I've recently moved I've been on a small food budget limiting my diet to the following...

Kashi cereal and fat free soy milk for breakfast
Pure protein bar for lunch
Grilled Chicken breast (skinless) and veggies for dinner
Fruits to snack on in between if needed, usually bananas, apples .etc
and only Water, Orange juice and Diet Green tea for beverages.

No bread, No junk food, no pasta, nothing fried .etc
Which equals out to about 1100-1200 calories per day.

I've lost about 30lbs on this diet and workout routine, I usually feel fine but I do lack energy from time to time depending on how hard I push my workout sessions.
My previous diet was about half my current diet (500-600 calories per day) which caused me to lose a lot of weight but didn't make me feel healthy at all.

This one feels more balanced and I've noticed improvements in my health and overall physique but I was wondering...

1. Is my diet bad for my health?
2. Should I worry about gaining a slow metabolism? since I'd really dislike gaining back the weight after working so hard to take it off.
3. Should I be exercising more?
4. Will I be able to hit my target weight?

Thanks for your time,

P.S: I hope I'm posting this in the right place :)

I am not a nutrition expert, but to me it doesn't look like you are eating very healthy. (strictly my opinion based on my limited knowledge of nutrition). You also don't list amounts so it is hard to accurately judge if it is ok or not.

Is this diet and exercise regime something that you can live on forever? If not, then you will have to change it so that you are creating healthy eating and workout habits so that you can maintain the weight loss that you are achieving. Think of the weight loss portion of your journey as training for living in your new body - this is the time that you get to replace bad habits with new good ones!

Your workout seems good but I would like to know more - for example what exercises are you doing on each day, what intensity....if you could track your eating for a week (the journals on here are an awesome place to do that) then others could have a look at a more rounded day in the life to give advice. I have found the journal section to be very healthy!

With more information, hopefully members of this forum can be more helpful! :)

Congrats on the weight loss so far!!!
