Scared out of my mind

There's a vitamin store near me in the next town over I'll go there tomorrow and get some.
Don't buy things at a dedicated vitamin store - it's such a waste of money, IMO.

You can get EAS and Body Fortress at any grocery store, Target, even WalMart (although I'm not a big WalMart fan).

Or you can order it online in bulk and get it even cheaper.

Thanks core elements and kara for your encouraging words-you guys are great!!

I"m so glad that you've had this lightbulb moment. In a lot of ways it will make this easier for you. Not easy ... but easier

lol-you’re right, I definitely don’t foresee things being easy. Yesterday although it was a good day overall I still didn’t get enough protein in. its frustrating me to no end that the foods I eat don’t have enough protein. Looks like I'm not even going to make it through the week-protein shake *sigh* you have won.

Hi S4H and thanks for stopping by – lol I admit sometimes I go a little overboard with the emoticons-but how else can I convey my enthusiasm?!?! there is box though that you can select if you want to disable smilies when you submit a reply-I haven’t tried it before so I don’t know if it will apply for the entire forum or only for that thread. How are your sugar cravings? Have you tried the dates yet?

Menu
Breakfast- 2 pancakes and honey, boiled egg
lunch-yogurt, fruit filled cookie
snack- banana, apple and pb
dinner-whole wheat pita, leftover baked veggies, watermelon

workout-d2w1 c25k

Today has been good so far-but my arm is killing from being at the driving range so i didnt go to the gym. It was suppose to be circuit day but i know im too sore to do anything. So anyway im thinking im just going to take today off

so i did some reading about protein intake and is it really .8g/kg???!

menu
breakfast-yogurt, apple
lunch-garden salad, yogurt, hemp hearts, flaxseed
snack-pb and an apple
dinner- rice, green beans, watermelon

Nightrunnerrrrrr!!!!! Thank you for your words, they made me smile :)

I love the emotes personally, I use them any time possible!

Its a good change to be eating for health rather than purely weightloss, you can do it :) We all have bumps, even the "veterans" :D it will work for you!

I dont know if anyone's seen it, but there's an episode of House where they're trying to diagnose this personal trainer girl who used to be fat then "worked hard" to get thin, they discovered she had a gastric bypass instead and was lying when she was telling people how she got thin and they diagnosed her with something where she needs the extra fats, so when she was overweight she was self medicating basically and not crashing but the "healthier" (aka skinnier) her wasn't getting enough of the nutrients/fats. house said the treatment was to get rid of the bypass so she could just simply solve it by her eating habits or they could try some meds that weren't guaranteed to work. and she chose the meds. And I found it funny at the end where he mentions how people say they're doing it to be healthy but they're really not, she was healthy when she was a bit overweight, but she'd rather be skinny then healthy.

It's sad I'm relating real life to house, but I thought it was a good moral. Lots of people would rather just be skinny then healthy! I'm proud of you for wanting to be healthy :)

I hope you're doing well on c25k! And I hope you're enjoying it :)

Keep at it, we'll all get there eventually and in our own time! but you WILL get there!! :D

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Thanks Antyoch-so far this outlook is working for me. i pray it lasts though :)

You make a very valid point re:House and thanks for bringing it up. It's so easy to fall into the trap of looking for a quick fix for weight loss and completely disregarding any health implications that may result.

c25k is going great, thanks for asking!! I just finished week 1 today and am looking forward to week 2-lol actually its a love hate thing-im kind of nervous but cant wait to see if ive improved :)

Classes start next weeeeeek!:hurray: im so pumped! the earliest class i have starts at 11:30!!!!! you know what that means!!!! MORNING WORKOUT!!!!! WOOOOOT!

Well done for finishing week 1.. thats great. I haven't even managed to download it yet oops.

It's fun starting a new year. What are you studying. It'll be motivating to be able to work out your weekly study/exercise plan. What are you doing for your last holiday weekend?

YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR!! Congratulations on finishing week one of the c25k program. While I have been talking and thinking about it, you have actually done it. Way to go!! So happy for you. I just found the MP3 version of Ullery's podcast, which I have put on my phone, so me gonna be running from tomorrow (fri) as well. So i am gonna be coming to you for advise on stretching etc. This is really great. You, me, Antyoch and hopefully Anna--we can all do this together.

Starting school- you must be sooo excited. What part of the US are you in? I miss the fall in the east coast so much sometimes. I may be going back to the US for Christmas, but not sure coz I may have to go to Pakistan during that time instead (yikes!). Good luck with all the preparations, night runner. And yay for morning workouts- it looks like you have the perfect schedule this semester.

More later...

Anna-I'm completing my last year as a Child Studies major. It’s kind of bittersweet. I love being in school but its past time I finished my undergrad.

We’re going to have some friends over for dinner Saturday night. Kind of worried since its weigh in day. I’m thinking of moving it to Sunday so that I'm not tempted to totally let go sat night. If all else fails it will just end up being a free day and ill have to work extra hard Sunday and Monday. But yeah saturday is going to be a real test to my new "i want to be a healthy person" outlook.

Well done for finishing week 1.. thats great. I haven't even managed to download it yet oops.

Thanks!!If you weren’t doing such an awesome job with your runs id totally be all over you for not starting c25k but you’re on top of your game so keep it up!!

Thanks Juni!! Sunday cant come soon enough for week 2 of c25k. I’m giving myself 3 days off because I want to go to step on sat. I'm so excited for you to start c25k! Let me know how it goes! I could use some tips on stretching myself. I always have to talk myself into doing it :p Yeah yeah!! We are all going to be c25k graduates! Cant wait!!

I cant even put into words how excited I am for classes to be starting. I'm a total geek I know! Its just that this is technically my second year of univ again since taking time off to work and I feel like I cant get enough. I also love the univ atmosphere with all the students milling around – the campus literally comes to life after a quite summer. I’m in Ontario Canada , and the fall season here is beautiful as well. It would be my favourite season if I knew that it didn’t mean winter was around the corner. Thanks for your well wishes and all the best with your GRE prep as well!!

Hi nightrunner, just reading through your diary a little and was wondering how tall are you? Sorry if you already mentioned it and I missed it. I ask because I am around the same weight 166. I graduated from University 3 years ago now and find it so much easier to manage my weight now that I'm into a routine and working everyday. It was so hard for me to lose weight when my roommates would always be eating and were never worried about weight gain or needing to exercise. Good for you putting yourself first! I wish you all the luck and will be checking back to see how your Sept.5 weigh in goes. Keep it up!

Hey CG and thanks for stopping by!

I don’t believe I mentioned it before but I'm 5’8. What did you study at univ? You’re lucky to be working. I dread being done, but making money is always a plus-that’s assuming I find a job though eh :p

I totally hear you about being around people who always eat and have nothing to show for it. Its frustrating as heck too when they keep telling you to eat when you are trying to watch your portion sizes!

Thanks for your well wishes and I’ll stop by your dairy soon

I got my degree in Business Commerce with a double major in Marketing and HR. I have a job that pays great, has great benefits, and good hours but the work is really boring - doing office admin stuff behind a desk all day. That's why I don't have a computer at home because I'm so sick of it by the end of the day! Yeah finding a job isn't fun - interviews and waiting can be stressful...but not as bad as writing an exam! I always thought I would go back and do my masters but thinking about studying makes me sick now. I was really bad at procrastinating!

Hey nightrunner!

i totally know what you mean by what you said about campus buzzing when the year starts! Here at UCD, the campus is very quiet during the summer, I kind of like it because it's easier to bike around. LOL. less bike accidents? But man, when the students start pouring back into this college town, I feel the energy!!! I love it!

Where are you taking all these exercise classes?! Gosh, girl you're exercise routine is INSPIRING!

Ehh... I like the quite summer and being able to find a parking spot. I love fall but I don't really like all the people running around on campus.... at least it will only last for a few weeks before ppl stop going to class & then it'll be at least a little easier to find a parking spot :)
Enjoy your night saturday! but you're right it might be a good idea to postpone weighing until sunday :) either way you should enjoy your night and have a good time!

Girl-Crappy how a job totally takes the fun away from something that would normally be enjoyable. Makes me wonder if I can get over my chocolate obsession by working at a chocolate factory. I have yet to meet someone who hasn’t been a procrastinator. lol-its like it’s a part of who we are. Even now knowing that I can’t pull all-nighters like I used to, I’ll still leave much of a paper unfinished until the night before it’s due. Yeah…regardless of the best intentions, it’s inevitable. I will procrastinate.

Eymediaoutlet-Hi!! Lol yeah I would imagine biking around would be easier and less frustrating when there are less people around campus. I was considering getting a bike when I meet my weight goal but now I'm thinking ill get it if I get into a grad program. That way I can bike to school. It’s about a 20 min car ride (using back roads) and would be great because the roads are relatively quiet and the scenery is really beautiful.

Splish-It’s hilarious that you mentioned how its easier to find parking in the middle of a semester than it is at the beginning. I came to that realization last fall when I was car pooling and didn’t really have to worry about parking. During the winter semester though I was driving alone and was actually looking forward to when people would start skipping-but that time never came!!! I was like – what the hell people?!?! NOW you decide to be studious?! Then I realized it was likely that more people drove than took the bus or walked or biked since everything was covered in snow…still I wasn’t impressed. Thanks for your well wishes! I'm thinking I'm going to pre-portion size everything I plan to eat. Hopefully that will derail me from being tempted to overeat…

ok im back..lol-I'm kind of bored. I dont start work for another 3 hours.

Today has been good so far.

breakfast-3 pancakes, honey, yogurt, hemp and flaxseed

workout-60 mins bike + circuit

hmmm what else...

oh eymediaoutlet i forgot to mention in my previous post...my gym membership is with goodlife and they have a bunch of classes that run throughout the day. I admit their classes are great but some of them are really high impact and now that I’m running consistently I’m trying to minimize anything that will put too much stress on my shins. So I’m sticking to step once a week and the occasional strength training class when i get bored of circuit. They have a pilates and yoga class in the evenings on mondays and wednesdays. Its been a while since I’ve done yoga but I have yet to make it to a pilates class. Anything that requires core strength scares me because I know that that is definitely something I’m going to struggle with..

Thanks, but your workout routines were pretty amazing too! I know you will get right back into it! You know how it is -after taking a break, it's always the first workout that’s hardest. Once that is out of the way then you find a rhythm and keep at it :)

I totally agree with this. I also find this true with eating healthy. Once I don't have bad food in my system for a few days I don't crave it anymore. As soon as my lips get the taste of chocolate or chips, I crave it constantly. Oh and grease! Once I ate something greasy my body tells me it wants more. Then I have to start from the beginning again and get rid of all those cravings.

Yoga's great! I always recommend it to clients to balance out intensity with something more nurturing - plus it aides in the ability to make the mind-body connection - something a lot people lack on the gym floor. Most instructors notice new students and will help you ease into the class.

nice point core elements-i never really looked at it that way. kinda bad timing for me though :( yoga is on wednesday nights and thats the only day of the week where ill have a night class :smash: the gym class schedule is changing sept 13th though so maybe they'll change it....hopefully!

hahahaha cg-that describes be perfectly. lol a couple of weeks ago i had a doughnut binge and thats exactly how it started. First i told myself i would just have a lick of the icing that had melted onto the bottom of the box. Then i swear it was like my tongue came to life!! I walked away from the kitchen hoping to distract myself from eating a doughnut but the taste was lingering in my mouth-and it was too damn good. so i said okay ill have half a doughnut - yeah who am i kidding right?? lol *sigh* i ended up eating two doughnuts :blush5: you bring up a good point though-its good to satisfy cravings in small doses so that if you are ever presented with large servings of goodies you arent tempted to over indulge

so! *happy dance* i lost those 4 lbs again + 1 ...yaay! I think im going to stick to weighing only once a week or every 2 weeks. Its so much better for me mentally-maybe when im a little bit more confident about my understanding of how my body works ill be able to weigh in more frequently and weather any temporary weight gain without feeling like its the end of the world - definately something to work towards!

i didnt get a chance to update my menu for yesterday so here it is...
breakfast-3 pancakes, honey, yogurt, hemp, flaxseed
lunch-1 cup speghetti and meat sauce
snack-yogurt with peach and mango jam
dinner-zucchini/beef burger and an apple

breakfast today-4 pancakes and honey
annnd im off to step! yeah yeah!

....hope you're all having a great start to the long weekend!!

Congratz on the pounds lost nightrunner :D You should definitely be happy :D

And congratz on your first week of c25k :D :D

I hope they move your yoga class so you can go!

Keep up the good work! You're doing great and good luck with school :D

Yay. Great loss! Well done. Its hard to keep on track when everthing is changing (ie starting school), but you're on to it.

I hear you on the weighing thing. It's hard to now when to do it son that its motivaional rather than depressing !

Have a great Sunday
