Hi everyone! I'm the Peach here trying to lose the last half of 71 pounds. I've been on this weight loss journey for a year now, and it's starting to slow down a lot. I've lost about 44 pounds so far, and I have another 27 to go, but I've been stuck in a plateau for the past few weeks. Perhaps a new support group would help. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!

Hi Peach...

welcome to the site...

spend some time reading around the forum and start yourself a diary... congrats on your success so far and much success getting the rest of the way

Thanks for the welcome, all!

wow!!! your almost there!!! what are you doing to lose weight i wonder???
I stick to a low-cal eating plan, which I've been doing for so long that it's practically second nature now. I also do Shaun T's Hip Hop Abs 6 days a week for a month and then a week of Turbo Jam, and then I start all over. It's possible that my weight loss has slowed because my calorie deficit may be a little too low. I always consume at least 1200 calories a day, but with my exercise, I may have to consume more. These days, I lose about 1 - 2 pounds a month, which is just painfully slow for me.

have you thought that maybe your body has become too used to your exercise program and now its not burning as much because it isnt being challenged the same way that it was when you were at the beginning of your change???

Hi.....

When's the last time you took a break?

A break from dieting and exercise?

Oh not at all. My workouts are very much a challenge, as evident by my constant sore muscles lol. I've had three other plateaus since I started losing weight and it's always a problem with low calorie deficits.

I don't take breaks since I started last year. But I was thinking of taking a week long break from exercise in about two weeks to let my muscles recover.

1. You shouldn't be constantly sore.

2. Muscle soreness is not a sign of workout efficacy.

3. You should be taking more breaks than one week per year.

4. This is probably the most important and relevant to your current issue.... I'd suggest not only taking a break from the workouts, but also the diet. Bump your cals up to maintenance for a week or so.

i like to be at least i little bit sore the next day just soo i feel like i've done something... but also i dont exercise the same group of muscles everyday...

I mean, if it makes you feel better....

But what I'm saying is, being sore does not mean you had a good workout. Often is the case that if you're continually sore, you're doing too much.

correct me if im wrong which i probably am ...LOL... but isnt soreness like muscle fibers breaking and then your supposed to give them enough time to heal... and thats how you build muscle??? soo if your sore all the time your muscles arent being given the chance to heal properly???

What you feel in DOMS just the body's adaptation to something unfamiliar, and is likely more to do with connective tissues than the muscle itself.
